Mitch Jay's Reviews

I’ve been gaming since a very young age and although I can’t remember my very first game, I fondly remember enjoying Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and being giddy with joy once I beat Dr. Robotnik. My all-time favourite game is a tie between Persona 4 Golden and Final Fantasy IX. As you may have noticed, I have a love for JRPG’s although I dabble in all genres. My favourite genres are fighters, visual novels and, of course, JRPG’s. I currently work with Rice Digital, NEO Magazine, Manga UK, Anime Limited, PCGamesN, PlayStation LifeStyle, J-Novel Club and Japan Curiosity. I was previously an Editor at PS4 Attitude. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 far surpasses its predecessor and does an excellent job in capturing what makes Dragon Ball what it is whilst providing plenty of gameplay options to keep you coming back long after the story. Dimps will have a hard time topping this one with, presumably, Xenoverse 3 but I really like the direction that the Xenoverse series has taken and hope that it continues. If you’re a fan then you won’t want to miss out and even if you aren’t very familiar with the series, Xenoverse 2 makes for a great starting point.

Ariandel is a gorgeous land and it’s a shame that there isn’t a whole lot to really explore, but it’s an enjoyable romp that lasts for a few hours and should please those who are itching for more Dark Souls. One of the strongest games of 2016 has just gotten better.

Exist Archive is a game that deserves more people giving it a go. Thankfully, getting each of the endings isn’t a huge hassle but if you’re entire unsure, feel free to use a guide as it is a pretty lengthy game that you might not want to play again in a hurry!

.hack//G.U. Last Recode is worth your time, especially as you get four games for the price of one with this collection, and each title is a strong effort. It'll keep you occupied, especially during a period where there aren't many new JRPGs out. For everyone's sake though, we can just refer to this collection as Last Recode rather than .hack//G.U. Last Recode, right?
