MLB The Show 17 is easily the series' strongest and most involved entry to date. Even now, I continue to find subtle and notable changes that further bolster my impression of this magnificent title.
Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is not a bad game, but it does feel like a big budget, B-tier game that has unfortunately been released a bit too early. With an ambitious open-world combined with rewarding sniping, it’s easy to pick up and play. But for those seeking a deeper, more refined experience you may need to look further afield as Sniper Ghost Warrior 3's lackluster combat and bland world often leave you wanting something just a little bit more.
MXGP3 is a surprisingly great game, one that caught me completely off guard before sucking me into its grimy and rewarding play style. Improved visuals, intricate customization and great physicality make for a solid racing entry from Milestone.
Unpredictable and challenging yet deeply rewarding, the range of modes and options available make for what is Codemasters' finest outing since they picked up the license.
Destiny 2 is a step in the right direction, with an exceptional story finally bringing this once dead universe to life in a fresh and vibrant way.
Project CARS 2 is a worthy successor and equally impressive contender for the 2017 racing title, given its stiff competition, Slightly Mad Studios can raise a glass and give themselves a pat on the back for a job, mostly, well done.
Forza Motorsport 7 presents itself exceptionally well. It's edgy without being in your face about it, handles like a dream, and invites you to return to collect a few more of the 700 cars on offer each time with diverse and varied gameplay. Beautiful and accessible, it is a milestone for the series and one I can see myself putting infinite hours into in the quest to be the best.
GT Sport is a bold direction for the series, one that many may feel at odds with. Having spent a substantial amount of hours with the game to this point I can say its grown on me. Players looking for the same old Gran Turismo experience will be left wanting, but if you embrace the multiplayer you will find hundreds of hours of top-class professional online racing.
Unfortunately, Star Wars Battlefront 2 is let down by the stifling progression system and a disjointed main campaign.
MLB 18: The Show sets the gold standard for baseball games and is a worthy addition to any sports fan's growing library.
Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is an accessible game with an impressive array of sporting events for all ages to enjoy. While it might not be the deep-dive some are looking for, it serves as an enjoyable title to pick up and play with friends or younger members of the household.
F1 2021 serves up the most complete and well-rounded experience to date. Annual improvements aside, Braking Point alone would be enough for me to jump in, but the fact that Codemasters have gone to this length to provide a complete package is admirable.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is a wonder, a breathtaking escape into a beautiful world beyond the confines of your home and it couldn’t have come at a better point.
It’s hard to dislike almost any part of this joyful little title. With boundless ways to play, build and paint, this is sure to be one title that remains in my library for a very long time.
Well rounded, brilliantly designed and engaging, it’s a space shooter with a lot of heart and soul that keeps you on your toes and eager for more.
GRID Legends is a safe step forward for the series. It really doesn’t feel like Codemasters have over-extended themselves by any means for this entry. With Driven to Glory serving as the highlight of the experience, there’s not much else for fans of the series.
With the best handling model on console, truly breathtaking visuals and a comprehensive and extensive campaign to boot, this is the series' finest outing yet. Anyone with a mild interest in racing should add Gran Turismo 7 to their library.
There is so much to dive into in this entry. Studio San Diego have done the community good overall and MLB The Show 22 is the finest offering to date.
MotoGP 22 is a passable step forward for MotoGP fans, with ‘Nine: Season 2009’ being the absolute highlight of the package and almost reason enough to pick it up. Most longstanding fans of the series will undoubtedly fork out for this one, but I am not sure I can recommend it to anyone that already dabbled in the brilliant MotoGP 21.
If you’re willing to bypass the constant nagging from ads to buy currency, you will find a great selection of modes with depth and hours of enjoyment. But it is hard to ignore the glaring and bleak future the microtransactions paint for the future of the series.
