2.5 / 10.0 - Goat Simulator

I totally understand the creators wanting to ride the success of the hype they got on social media, I mean, how often does that happen? But really this feels like a waste of time, let alone money.

A bad, bad game. Oh it's true, it's damn true!

Jarring storylines, silent protagonists, and actual glitches that freeze the game.

Honestly, I would wait for this one on sale if you wanted to buy it. It’s priced the same as other major titles but, in my opinion, ain’t worth it.

5 / 10.0 - Powerstar Golf
Dec 17, 2013

I've reflected this in the score. If you LOVE golf games, feel free to bump that number up as high as you like, but for me it sits in the middle of our score band, nothing bad about it, but nothing great either.

6 / 10.0 - Hardware: Rivals
Feb 3, 2016

I'm old enough that I can say I've been playing games like this since they first started coming out. So after a few days of playing I give it a passing grade but not by much. I mean, it's always fun to drive around and blow up things, that's why these games keep being made. So while Hardware Rivals is fun for a while it still has a lot of annoyances to overcome.

7 / 10.0 - Beyond Eyes
Sep 8, 2015

Overall I think the creators reached too far with Beyond Eyes. Even the name feels wrong attached to this game. It needed more challenges or a more intimate sense of gameplay. It's a hard task recreating within a visual medium the feeling of being newly blind. Close your eyes, even in a familiar space, and then walk around. Now think how you'd make that into a game. I think Beyond Eyes takes a good stab at it, but ultimately comes up short.

7.1 / 10.0 - Thief

Thief isn't terrible, it's just not as good as other games, so in a way I want to say leave Thief for a while; come back to it when it's on sale, wait for it to be a steal.

7.5 / 10.0 - Shadow of the Beast

Overall Shadow of the Beast a pretty good platformer with nothing much to hate about it. It's a good time killer.

While the gameplay was OK, there were just too many things in the campaign mode that bugged me. Multiplayer is much better, however, with a solid mission-based experience and smooth interaction.

Despite the new power of the PS4, the town is essentially (if you'll excuse the pun) dead. NPCs stand or sit in the same place constantly, their faces devoid of emotion. The only one who actually looks alive is the man with seven glowing bullet holes in him.

The games are probably a bit too young to be considered retro or nostalgic, (Infinite is only three years old), but they do bring with them a lot of fond memories. If you’ve never played them before, the series feels fresh and new. As a set the games compliment each other and, while not a trilogy, the stories are intertwined – even if only by a common idea. This collection may become a must have for new console owners.

Overall, DR3 is fun game with awesome amounts of zombie smashing but it also has a bunch of annoying things which distract from the aforementioned smashing.

8 / 10.0 - Tengami
Jan 22, 2015

I feel also that Tengami is a game that would be better played on a tablet, to give you a sense of actually turning the pages, of discovering what's inside this magical book. At certain times, if you go exploring, you can find the edge of the book.

Overall though, it's a fun new game mode. And for Killzone - it's an interesting experience working as a squad, rather than a group of individuals. There is no question that you'll need to work together to win the game.

8 / 10.0 - The Evil Within
Oct 13, 2014

In this sense The Evil Within becomes less of a game and more of a haunted house ride, where you just roll with the changes and wait for the scares.

Overall, this is a pretty good game. There was a lot of what seemed like Resident Evil in-jokes and nods to previous games that went over my head, but nothing that was required to understand the story. It was a fairly enjoyable romp through a monster killing field with a decent storyline. And really, want more do you want from Resident Evil?
