So this is game that had some lofty ideas of what it could have been and delivered a broken slodge of a simulator, devoid of anything that can be considered worthy of its utterly disgraceful price-tag. It’s clear the developers did what they could with a seemingly small budget and little time but this just isn’t good enough.

The only way you're going to get anything out of this turgid experience is if you're the CEO of Nerf.

3 / 10 - Protocol
Jun 7, 2021

An absolute cluster of poorly written dialogue, terrible technical misses and infuriating puzzle mechanics, Protocol is a dreadful experience that will test your patience along with your capacity to put up with absolute trash to see a somewhat satisfying ending to a story you’re barely paying attention too. You deserve better.

Soulless and boring, Street Power Football offers nothing back for its ridiculous asking price. Vote with your wallet and leave this one on the shelf.

It’s all a bit crap then, but to be honest there are laughs to be had. I can’t recommend you go out there and buy this game. In a July like this there are so many actually good games to go out and try and that you can’t be spending money on turgid nonsensical garbage like Guts & Glory.

There's an interesting choice near the end which could see some major ramifications between the group moving forward, and a strong final 'boss' sequence was entertaining and visually, finally brought a bit of excitement to proceedings, but it wasn't enough to save whatever the previous 80 minutes were before it. The story progression was next to none and the location was really dull, making Jailhouse Block a huge misfire.

Crime Boss: Rockay City is exactly what we thought it would be. A turgid waste of a solid central idea with a cast stacked with actors who sound like they’d rather be anywhere else or are just purely hateful. There’s a little delight in falling into b-movie nostalgia, but it’s few and far between. There’s very little here to recommend because very little of it works, if anything at all. Well, the title is fun to say at least.

New Tales from the Borderlands is a sequel that seemingly forgets everything that made the original so special and shoehorns in a story that simply doesn’t keep you engaged. Whilst it’s visually lovely and feels like it’s a Borderlands experience, it’s all style and no substance. Without heart or humour, this feels like a cash-in, and for a sequel to one of the greatest narrative games of all time? That’s just not good enough.

It had a chance, and with plenty of nods that will please fans The Edge of Reality should have been the ultimate Doctor Who gaming experience. Instead, dull puzzles and a surprisingly flat atmosphere – along with a dreadful use of the Weeping Angels – leaves The Edge of Reality somewhere that should have remained undiscovered.

4 / 10 - Tamarin
Sep 10, 2020

One of the more disappointing games of the year, Tamarin is pretty to look at but dead behind the eyes, offering very little to win over fans of Rare’s golden age.

This bus journey offers little thrills and a whole lot of frustration. Much like a normal bus journey then, I suppose.

Aside from the vastly eclectic endings, the gameplay just isn’t enough to sustain it through several attempts to find them all. The gameplay never deviates from avoiding vision cones and knocking some people out if necessary. And as the game is encouraging you to experience it over and over again, it really needed a compelling reason to work your way to another ending. The premise and the endings are the clear standouts. It’s the bit in-between that makes it feel like The Church in The Darkness is a squandered opportunity.

4 / 10 - Solar Flux
Dec 19, 2018

Physics based games are never my strong point, but I always like to give them a go to see if there’s one that will break the cycle for me and allow me to get better at them. Unfortunately Solar Flux offers very little in terms of complexity or excitement. Once I beat the game for review purposes I never went back to it, and there’s just too much available right now on Switch to really consider why I would want too.

It’s a kart racer, that’s it. Nothing more, nothing less and let’s be honest, these characters deserve far, far better than this.

As I was forcing myself to play through this game for the sake of the review my partner was watching on and having a right old laugh at me attempting to rip out teeth, quite literally. We’ve played the game together several times and came to a very strange conclusion that the game is far more fun to watch someone play than it is to play yourself.

So Battlezone Gold Edition is a disappointment, and the more you play through the more it’s apparent that VR is probably where this belongs. It’s a shame, I mentioned up top I was interested to see if this was still as fun as it was when you’re actually sat in the middle of a tank with enemies surrounding you at every turn. I wondered if the experience could translate to our traditional realities. It isn’t. And it doesn’t.

It's only the first episode and in my experience TellTale series always get better and better as the series moves on, though I'm strained to remember a series which started as rocky at this one. I'm gonna jump into Episode 2 and hope that the story and series will get somewhere that brings back the spirit of the first season, because right now it's nowhere to be found.

Lightfall is assuredly Destiny 2’s weakest effort at providing something new for its enormous player base. Whilst the setting is exciting to look at, there’s very little here to convince lapsed players to return and has already proven frustrating for the hardcore. If you’re brand new, don’t even bother. Perhaps it’s time tor Bungie to finally move on.

Featuring a gorgeous soundtrack and sumptuous visuals, A Musical Story certainly has everything going for it, but the experience as a whole feels as hollow as an acoustic guitar that was played once and never picked up again. Once it’s done, it’s done. And you won’t feel the need to return.

Let’s Sing 2022 offers next to nothing new from last years iteration, save a pretty decent playlist of songs to sing. You have to wonder what’s next for the franchise, if they’re already bored of adding modes. Save your money, this song has already been sung.
