The sum is a fun but rough RPG, far more akin to classic RPGs than other games. It’s quick pace means you could easily blast a couple of hours out with Netflix on, and I haven’t had a good game to do that with in quite a while. Think of this like an older house: The foundations are rock solid, just the paint is rough and the kitchen needs remodelling.

8 / 10 - BattleTech
May 14, 2018

If you can ignore the possibility of rerolling missions and accept what you’re given BattleTech is definitely a success on par with other tactical games in the genre. You get satisfaction in your victories, frustration in your failures, and sweet relief when you barely manage to escape alive. It brings back the magic and wonder of playing XCOM combined with the technicality of games such as EU4.

8 / 10 - Lake Ridden
May 9, 2018

Lake Ridden is an enjoyable experience. Despite the lack of fleshing out the story is a fulfilling one; the puzzles are unique and interesting despite the rather strange solutions and iffy helps system; and the manor house and its surrounding buildings brilliantly designed and sensibly reused.

3 / 10 - Beast Quest
May 6, 2018

It’s hard to figure out whether Beast Quest was unfinished, underfunded or just accepted at this level of quality. If it was ported form mobile, as I suspect it was, than many of these errors become clear as by-products of a poor transfer. But even for strong fans of the series I would advise you not to bother. There are plenty of better adventure games to give yourself.

The Silver Case, besides being weird as hell, is a solid visual novel game. The story works well despite its division into three campaigns and if you can struggle through the puzzles you’ll find an enjoyable experience for any Suda51 fan. Just be prepared for crazy.

But this doesn’t detract from the game’s good qualities, and soon you’ll be beating your way through all manner of foes and enjoying yourself immensely. That is what Penny Punching Princess does well, making you enjoy your small jaunts with it. It is definitely a game I will be recommending on Switch, and one I think anybody who buys it will have an enjoyable time with and get their money’s worth.

Overall, Yakuza 6 is a strong continuation of the series so far. Personally the arcade feel has be lessened, but the graphical enhancements, extreme amount of content, and stunning story mean that I’m still wholly in love with it. If you took my recommendation to play both Zero and Kiwami, then take my recommendation and play this one.

I find it hard to say much more about Chaos on Deponia. It definitely worth playing. It ticks all the boxes for those looking for something which harkens back to the old LucasArts adventures. It ticks all the boxes for those looking for a fun new adventure game. And it ticks all the boxes for those looking to sink into point-and-click style adventures. It is an all-round good experience, one you should expect for Daedelic.

Overall Sowing the Wind continues an interesting story as well as it can: By smoothing down rough edges and not bringing new issues to the table. Much like volume one you’re in for the long haul. But if you have made it this far that won’t put you off.

If you like the previous 4 games I will have to trust your recommendation as I do not know how this game relates to the others. But this is not a game I will be recommending to anyone. This is not a series worth new investment. It is at best incomplete and at worst an embarrassment of a game in its current state. Tohou Kobuto V: Burst Battle is an unnecessary game, a game which is not worth getting.

If you haven't given Spintires a chance then this is the time to do so. It's nice to see them shovel more content in rather than just plugging the game on to consoles. You'll have a good experience regardless of which format you grab it. Sim fans and casual players should find several good hours of fun in this.

4 / 10 - Demon Gaze II
Dec 22, 2017

Demon Gaze 2 is probably a nice time on the Vita. On the PS4 it is very much not so. It is the video game equivalent of eating junk food when you’re not hungry. If I run out of other games I will play it again. But for now I’m putting it down and picking another orphan of the PS Vita exodus.

9 / 10 - Attentat 1942
Dec 21, 2017

The game is very thin in the sense that there is little else to it. But the mystery is compelling, and I enjoyed the simple-start-to-complex-finish of the story. Everything is done with polish and style. The real actors play their parts well and realistically: Grandma is stern and annoyed when you ask for stuff from her, and everyone acts like the situation is one of seriousness even if they speak to you like a parent to a child.

All in all, if I had not been given Night of Azure 2 I would not have sought it out. It is not a positive example of a Japanese game in any sense. I would say give it a try if you have nothing else and disposable coin but because I have both this is not something I would recommend.

In the end, Megaton Rainfall exceeded all my expectations, while a few more options would be appreciated for controllers, the gameplay itself is solid and gives plenty of replay value. Even getting it for the ability to fly like a superhero in VR is a solid reason.

If you aren’t a fan of visual novels or RPG’s then half of this game will be tolerance waiting for fun, which is how no good game should be. This game isn’t for me, but fans of the previous iterations or fans of both genres will find enjoyment on this game.

No doubt this game is a good idea. Hunting illnesses in a body definitely appeals, but all the execution does is ruin that idea, miss-stepping over basic FPS rules and laws and ending up with something that misses the mark entirely.

The story dives in a few places too. Characters sudden appearance and sudden disappearance just seems to be to fill holes in the story, and the introduction of new characters is done with some haste and feels janky. It seems like they had a solid beginning, but missed out time on the ending, focusing more on just connecting it to the next chapter than giving a fulfilling set of reasons to take you there.

10 / 10 - SUPERHOT (VR)

SUPER HOT is a fantastic game, and one that is hiding secretly as a fantastic FPS mixed with a puzzle game, getting to the end will get you a feeling that other games just do not give you these days.

8 / 10 - Vaporum

Vaporum catches attention easily. We like steampunk, it’s cool, and ever since Bioshock brought steampunk back people have been trying to encapsulate that style.
