7.5 / 10.0 - Pepper Grinder
Apr 19, 2024

Pepper Grinder isn't an indie that's going to shake up the industry; it's more of a cute little game that shows us that there's a lot of ground to be rediscovered in the genre. Its core mechanics are incredibly fun, so it's a shame that in the end you're left with the feeling that it could have been more.

Princess Peach: Showtime! does some good things, but in the end it falls short. This platformer is full of good ideas, but the problem is that they remain just that: ideas. It's as if its developers had put together a bunch of proofs of concept in a single game without worrying about the most important thing: that they form a fun product and turn out to be more than the sum of all its parts.

9 / 10.0 - Unicorn Overlord
Mar 8, 2024

Unicorn Overlord is a must-have that fans of strategy games can't pass up. It's a game packed with complex systems that interact to keep you thinking about the best ways to maximize each unit in your squads. Perhaps this makes it a game that may be unsuitable for first time players, but its different difficulty levels do a good job of keeping newcomers from getting overwhelmed by so many systems and allowing veterans to dive right into the strategy.

9 / 10.0 - Persona 3 Reload
Jan 30, 2024

Persona 3 Reload is a fantastic remake that treats with extreme care a JRPG masterpiece to deliver a modern version that respects its original version. ATLUS understood perfectly what adjustments had to be made for Persona 3 to reach the standards that came to the franchise thanks to Persona 5, but without making the mistake of leaning too much towards what the 2016 game delivered.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a product that proves how special video games can be when they're trying to be just that: gaming. While some studios are busier turning their releases into virtual storefronts and others are running unsustainable budgets in hopes of finally getting Hollywood approval, RGG Studios simply sought to pamper their fans by making the most of the possibilities in front of them.

The Last of Us: Part II Remastered is a re-release that delivers the best and most complete version of this game. While the graphical changes do little to impress, the extra content is valuable for those hungry for more of Naughty Dog's grim universe. That said, it feels solely like it exists purely for commercial continuity, to capitalize on the hype of the HBO series and give another sales boost to Naughty Dog's video game

They say old habits die hard, and that's precisely what stains Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. We have a game that knows how to capitalize on the franchise it's based on to deliver a product that does enough to distinguish itself from other releases. Despite having several moments of quality and clever design, the overall quality suffers due to outdated mission design, as well as a dull, hollow, and timid story that shows a lot but says very little.

7.5 / 10.0 - Persona 5 Tactica
Nov 16, 2023

Persona 5 Tactica is a spin-off that delivers without more. It's entertaining and fans of Persona 5 will be happy to spend a few more hours with the Phantom Thieves. Unfortunately, it lacks the impact needed to be one of those side projects that become an arm of the main franchise. Nor does it carry enough weight to become one of the best games of its genre. It is simply an entertaining title and little more.

9 / 10.0 - Super Mario RPG
Nov 15, 2023

ArtePiazza understood what elements needed to be improved to deliver a remake that went beyond better graphics. This is Super Mario RPG for a new era and a new audience, with improvements that bring it closer to modern standards. It's hard to say that the remake will replace the gem that is the original, but it's another jewel that deserves to sit alongside it.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is a game that arrives more as a luxury than a necessity. Just when it seemed that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and SEGA had completely handed over the baton to Ichiban Kasuga, they pampered us with an installment that pays tribute to everything that made the series great and treats Kazuma Kiryu and the legacy he has within his universe as well as in the real world with immense respect. Yes, we'll see Kiryu again in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, but he may never star in another installment. If so, it would be a phenomenal goodbye for the Dojima Dragon. Thank you for everything, Kiryu.

We have spent more than a decade without a classic-style Mario Bros. that truly made us feel magic, that reminded us why the plumber is the king of platformers. Fortunately, the wait for these sensations is over and Super Mario Wonder arrives as one of the best games of the year and as one of the most magical installments of the entire franchise.

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged is an entertaining game, but it has a long way to go before it can compete against the big names of the genre. It is evident that Milestone thought of it as a casual arcade racing game that you can enjoy in challenges with your friends to spend a time full of laughter and chaotic fun. Unfortunately, this good foundation suffers from a completely soulless and generic track design that you'll quickly forget.

I also don't mean that Assassin's Creed Mirage is a failed attempt. It is a game with quality in several sections and with which players who have been hooked on the series for years will enjoy. It's also for those who miss the series, but prefer to avoid the overwhelming amount of content from the most recent trilogy. However, you will find yourself with a bittersweet drink if you expect it to be the game that manages to revive all those old glories of times that, let's face it, will never return.

The apple didn't fall far from the tree with Detective Pikachu Returns. It's a game that stands out for its charisma, but can be guilty of being too simple, something quite similar to what happened to the Nintendo 3DS entry.

Phantom Liberty is a quality experience worth experiencing. It has that dark narrative with complex characters and high quality side content that we've come to expect from CD Projekt RED. That said, it also makes some mistakes that allow us to realize that it's a game as flawed, raw and gripping as life in Night City.

9 / 10.0 - Sea of Stars
Sep 5, 2023

Sea of Stars might not quite reach the legendary status of classics like Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy VI, but it's undeniably a stunning game that every genre lover should dive into. It's an adventure that's pure joy because it gets what makes JRPGs so darn captivating for decades. What really matters about Sea of Stars is that it's nailed that magical vibe from a bygone era that might never come back. Let Sea of Stars cast its spell on you, and let those waves of nostalgia wash right over you. You won't regret it

8.5 / 10.0 - Pikmin 4
Jul 19, 2023

Pikmin 4 captures the essence of the franchise, even if it doesn't redefine the gaming landscape. While it doesn't revolutionize gaming, it delivers the familiar real-time strategic gameplay and introduces interesting changes. The open philosophy in level design and beautiful atmosphere will immerse players in a miniature world. Though it may be too easy and lacks an intriguing story, Pikmin 4 is a solid addition to the series.

Land of the Morning Light delivers a captivating and enchanting adventure, making it an essential expansion for Black Desert Online veterans. While it doesn't address all long-standing issues, it offers compelling content, immersive storytelling, and intense boss battles. It also serves as a great entry point for newcomers seeking a smaller and accessible experience. Overall, it's a must-play MMO expansion that immerses players in the folklore of South Korea.

9.5 / 10.0 - Chained Echoes
Apr 25, 2023

Chained Echoes is fantastic. Not only does it capture what made 90s JRPGs special, but it elevates and modernizes it to deliver an unforgettable experience. With an engaging narrative, attractive characters, a well-built world, and a combat system full of good ideas, it has become one of the best JRPGs I've played in over a decade. Chained Echoes didn't copy old JRPGs, it understood them to create something that lives up to their legacy.
