Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia is a game that combines turned-based tactical combat with troop management over a campaign map. While it has great art in its VN-style cutscenes and has a deep Lore for its world, many of its mechanics feel shallow and outdated. As such, this game can only be recommended to die-hard fans of the genre who can enjoy its repetitive and sometimes tedious gameplay in short bursts to scratch that Turned-based tactics itch

9.5 / 10.0 - Desperados III
Jun 14, 2020

Desperados III is another strong title from Mimimi Productions, and has managed to successfully revive one of the most beloved franchises. Every aspect of the game, from the character development to gameplay and graphics, has been painstakingly and meticulously designed, and the end result will without a doubt please longtime fans and newcomers alike. The developers have borrowed many of their mechanics from their previous title, Shadow Tactics, but it shows the strength of the framework they had created rather than being a testament of their negligence. All of these have turned Desperados III to one of the best Real-time Tactics games available, although its saving system could have been more reliable

As far as graphics and technical issues are concerned, XCOM: Chimera Squad is not an improvement over its predecessors, and even all the old bugs are still present in it. Instead, it is a title that prioritizes new mechanics and a simpler experience. If you are looking for an excuse to visit the world of XCOM again, or seek a simple entry point to the series, Chimera Squad can be a good choice

Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories starts with a promise to let us experience a massive disaster first hand, and challenge our sense of morality in the face of such a catastrophe. However, the game almost immediately reveals itself to be shallow and underdeveloped in almost every aspect—from game mechanics and graphics, to story and performance. Perhaps a less ambitious and more focused development could have produced a unique game, but as it is now, we cannot recommend Disaster Report 4 to anyone

The latest port of the highly acclaimed Devil May Cry 3, not only succeeds in bringing the fan-favorite title to the Nintendo Switch, but also manages to improve it. The already solid combat has only improved with the addition of the Free Style mode, and the new co-op mode for Bloody Palace will let you share the fun with a friend. Despite the stationary camera and re-used bosses, this game pleases more than it punishes. Indeed, whether you are drawn to this latest iteration of DMC3 out of a sense of nostalgia or a love for its excellent combat, you will surely enjoy this greatly re-playable game

8.5 / 10.0 - Wargroove
Feb 11, 2019

Wargroove, is an excellent reimagining of Advance Wars, a game that has defined turned-based tactics as we know it. The campaign tells a typical fantasy story we have all heard before, but it serves as a great and fun introduction to Wargroove's deep strategic gameplay. The multiplayer has well-designed maps, and extra modes like the puzzle mode to keep things interesting. The built-in editor is powerful, yet easy to use, and promises endless fresh content in both singleplayer and multiplayer. Although it has some minor issues that could cause inconveniences, they are overshadowed by the game's very enjoyable gameplay.

7.5 / 10.0 - Vampyr
Jul 3, 2018

Vampyr is a dialogue heavy ARPG, and it's these interactions that make the game truly shine. Excellent voice acting and interesting NPCs have made for a truly memorable experience. Unfortunately, Vampyr is also plagued by various bugs and a general lack of polish. While most of these problems are very minor, they are numerous enough to impede the player's experience. Should you choose to look past these issues, you would find Vampyr's dramatic world enjoyable and entertaining.

9 / 10.0 - Frostpunk
May 31, 2018

Frostpunk is both a fresh and intense experience in its genre. It is both a competent city-builder and an engaiging survivor game. Its beautiful art and music go very well with its settings and story. Your choices matter and each has its consequences, and pitch your senses of morality and reason against each other. The gameplay is challenging and fun by itself, yet new challenges are presented throughout the game to keep things fresh. The only downside is that these challenges lose their element of surprise after the first playthrough.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is an intense, and challenging experience. The battles are violent and bloody, and the weapons are fun to use with a nice feeling of impact. The characters and their classes are perfectly balanced and thus fun to play, while levels designes are atmospheric, colorful, interseting, and filled with memorable vistas. However, Lack of dedicated servers and poor voicechat user experience can ruin the otherwise enjoyable experience.

Empire Divided is a competent addition to Rome II. Although no noteworthy changes can be felt in the game's performance, its gameplay has improved considerably. The new politics system, which is Creative Assembly's response to the boring endgame, has made it so that the threat of an unexpected enemy attack is always felt in big empires. The cult system could introduce new challenges for those who appreciate the micromanagement part of the game, but its overall effect on its flow seems minimal. All of the famous 3rd century leaders present in game have interesting stories to tell, and perhaps the chaotic world of this era is the perfect opportunity to show off the improved gameplay of Total War: Rome II.
