Those seeking an instantly accessible arcade-action thrill are going to find it with We Are Doomed. Like many arcade games before it, however, that thrill does wear off quickly.
Swimsanity! offers a fun blast of online or local versus play. Its game modes aren't terribly original, but they work well in the underwater setting. Unfortunately, the fun doesn't carry over to the game's adventure mode or the single-player options.
Considering their amazing catalog, I'm not sure why Atari keeps trying to make 1972's Pong relevant for modern gamers. Pong Quest is a clever, valiant run at it, aided by solid controls and some decent multiplayer life. But it's still just Pong, and the game is at its best when they help you forget that.
You're not going to get much replay value out of Breathing Fear, but that's expected at its asking price of $5.00. It's best enjoyed in one prolonged gaming session, so it's more effective as a slightly unsettling way to kill a couple hours on a road trip…hopefully to an abandoned house in the middle of the woods on a very dark night. Remember to pack your batteries and alcohol.
Bee Simulator's flying mechanics will frustrate younger gamers, and its grade-school level presentation will turn away adults. If you're able to find some happy ground between the two of them, however, it's a thoughtful, educational, and fun way to live out the life of a bee.
If you really like the open-world, GTA-style games and haven't grown tired of really old graphics technology, there is some fun to be had with Shakedown: Hawaii. Otherwise, you might want to look for a more robust game to squeeze some more life out of you Nintendo 3DS.
The Alliance Alive is a slightly above-average game that's dwarfed by the myriad JRPGs already available for and coming to the Switch. It can serve as a decent filler between them, but there's nothing in this HD remaster to make it a better option than its original 3DS release. Save yourself some cash and go that route if you can…just be sure to rotate those save files.
Shmup fans are going to find a passable game in here. The unique visuals and ability to choose your missions do help to set Escape From the Universe apart from the competition. The gameplay, however, doesn't, and the general repetition and need to grind for credits make this a game that most will be fine to avoid.

As it stands, although it's fairly priced, Puzzle Wall simply needs more content. It's a fun way to kill some time at a children's party, but it won't be long before they're done with it and on to better games.
My son and I had some fun playing through, and you can bet the next time I get together with my college friends we'll be firing it up for some quick laughs. But if you haven't played Heavy Barrel before it's best to just avoid it and stick with a game that's woven a little more intricately into your past.
Jumping Joe & Friends is well developed and fun, but by its very nature is not the type of game you'll play with any degree of frequency. It's more like those board games you find stashed away on the upper shelf of the closet and think, “Hey, I remember this! This was fun!” But then you get it down and play a few rounds and soon remember why it had been up on that shelf for so long.
Jotun: Valhalla Edition is a game of moments. It's like an album with a handful of brilliant songs surrounded by filler material you'd rather just skip. That's not to say it's not worth playing, especially at the attractive price of $14.99. The great moments make it worth it, but the gameplay between those moments can try your patience. As such, it'll just take some serious dedication to play it all the way through.
Another World was a great game to play when it was released. I know, because I was there with my Macintosh LC II. But what made it stand out then actually gets in the way now. It has some fun puzzle events and interesting twists and turns along the way, but is better played for historical and nostalgic purposes than for pure entertainment. Of course, history may be enough for some gamers; you can find a decidedly different point-of-view in Trevor Gould's review of Another World for Wii U and 3DS. I suggest you wait for Flashback—a similar game from Delphine Software that is getting a physical release for Nintendo Switch at the end of the month.
NeoSprint updates the '70s arcade racer with the modern features you'd expect from Atari: multiple racing modes, numerous tracks, a track builder, etc. Unfortunately, it locks most of the content behind the single-player campaign mode, and it doesn't include online multiplayer. The fun is there, you just have to work to get to it.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a good game. Although billed as a spiritual successor to the Suikoden games, you don't need to have played them to enjoy this JRPG adventure. You do need some patience, however, as performance issues and its "traditional" ways continue to trip up the Switch version.
Musashi vs. Cthulhu is as basic as an action game can be; combat is reduced entirely to aiming and timing your sword strikes. This makes it easy to get into and fun to play, but that fun likely won't hold for those who aren't interested in score-chasing or leaderboards.
Ikki Unite adds a Vampire Survivors spin to a 1985 game you've probably never even heard of. It works, but only if you're able to take advantage of the online multiplayer. On your own, it's just repetitive nonsense.
The Legend of Legacy HD Remastered for Switch does a decent job of modernizing the visuals of the 2015 3DS game, but the important issues from the original still remain. Its lack of story and the difficulty spikes with its unique combat system make it hard to recommend to anyone other than the most fervent of JRPG fans.
Grime Definitive Edition is a fascinating action-platforming experience that I can't recommend experiencing on the Switch. Its unique visual and narrative presentations will compel genre fans to the end, but the game would surely be better enjoyed without Switch performance problems dragging it down.
