Sonic Mania Plus makes me feel like I’ve played Sonic games all my life. I feel as though I’m being welcomed home with open arms despite me never having a strong connection to the series. Representing the very best that old-school platformers have to offer, Sonic Mania Plus is a wonderful experience for both newcomers and longtime fans.
Element is elegant in its simplicity; both its visual design and quick strategy concept are engaging hooks, and it provides a healthy challenge for those seeking it.
Play Wandersong. You deserve to play such a wonderful game about music, friendship, and how heroism can be found in any good deed - no matter how small.
SoulCalibur VI has this noob seeking out more fighting games to try - something I’d never thought imaginable prior to reviewing this game.
11-11: Memories Retold tells a deeply touching human tale of war. Of one man seeking a grand adventure and heroism. Of another man attempting to reunite his fractured family. Of the many who lost their lives serving their respective countries.
Crackdown 3 feels like a dated open-world game with little depth beyond its zippy traversal mechanics. It’s slick visuals and fun platforming moments mask repetitive combat and a severe lack of Terry Crews beyond the opening cinematic.
Although imperfect in many ways, I still consider The Occupation to be a totally worthwhile experience and a great display of ambitious game design. The investigative components and political thriller narrative are highly engaging in spite of its clunky packaging.
Phoenix Wright Trilogy showcases three of the most accessible and fun visual novels available. Featuring witty writing and a delightful cast of characters, the Ace Attorney series captures a great blend of light and dark shades in its storytelling.
My Friend Pedro excels at making you feel extremely good at being violent. Its slow-mo gunplay is among the best in any game. However, the disappointing delivery of its utterly bananas premise and a lack of variety dulls the thrill during longer play sessions.
If you haven’t played either Bayonetta or Vanquish, now’s the best time. Despite the visuals showing their age at times, both games play brilliantly on an Xbox One X. Most importantly, the action is just as thrilling now as it was back in 2010.
Games don’t come much more grandiose than Persona 5 Royal. While occasionally straining under the sheer scale of its many gameplay and story elements, Royal’s many improvements plus grounded characters, addictive combat and flamboyant presentation are overwhelmingly endearing traits.
