Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn is a misfire in just about every way. The gameplay is dull and simplistic, the art and sound design are low quality, and the story is not only unfunny, but also surprisingly offensive. In other words, it's exactly what you would expect a Shaq Fu sequel to be like.

Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back is about as good as a Bubsy game can be. Unfortunately for this sloppy, cheap and noisy platformer, that's an unfathomably low bar to clear.

Cartoon Network: Battle Crashers is the worst type of licensed dreck, soullessly designed with absolutely none of the charm or creativity of the shows it depicts.

28 / 100 - Protocol
May 22, 2021

Protocol is a tortuous experience that combines clumsy, awful gameplay with an abysmal script. I would much rather fail the protocol, and be nuked, then have to play through this again.

30 / 100 - Hello Neighbor
Dec 18, 2017

Frequently more frustrating than frightening, Hello Neighbor is a disaster from top to bottom. There's a nugget of a good idea here, but between the irrational puzzle design and inconsistent AI, the finished product isn't up to snuff.

Generation Zero holds plenty of promise, but its current state makes it impossible to recommend. From the painful inventory management to the lifeless open world to the haphazard multiplayer, there's little positive to be found here.

Aggressively unpleasant and a chore to play, Milanoir is a bloody dud of a tale. A slick visual style is the only positive to take away from this lousy slog of a game.

Sunk by lacklustre gameplay, cliched storytelling and technical hiccups, Submerged is one of the biggest missed opportunities in recent memory.

I suppose I should have realized Alekhine's Gun was going to have quality concern issues following its numerous delays. I just wasn't aware of how severe these problems would be, as the stale gameplay and dated graphics barely put it on level with games from the last console generation.

34 / 100 - Randall
Jun 21, 2017

The metroidvania-lover in me wished Randall turned out to be more enjoyable. There are some interesting ideas here, like the use of mind control, but the good of that is buried under a litany of technical problems and just general sloppy design. Like the titular hero, I found myself frequently battling headaches during my time with the game.

36 / 100 - WWE 2K20
Nov 3, 2019

WWE 2K20 is a complete debacle, and in the running for the worst entry in the series to date. Outside of the solid 2K Showcase and plethora of match options, this is a downgrade in almost every way. The visuals are repulsive, there are glitches everywhere you look, and the gameplay has been significantly compromised.

40 / 100 - Blair Witch
Sep 7, 2019

Blair Witch, much like the rest of the franchise, is a disappointment. It's not scary, it's rarely interesting and it's not particularly fun to play. It has a solid look, but is lacking in just about every other department. I say this begrudgingly, but you're better off watching the films.

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes can be engaging and stylish when it wants to be. However, it rarely wants to be either of those things, and is instead content to be a bland, boring slog that never gets out of first gear.

There are some clever ideas to be found within the world of Gods Will Fall, but they can't make up for the fact that it often feels like a tedious slog.

There's some small-town charm to be found in Twin Mirror, but an undercooked mystery and lack of interesting characters make the trip to Basswood a rather boring one.

A fresh coat of paint can't disguise the fact that SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is just a remake of an unremarkable platformer that hasn't exactly aged well.

A mostly lackluster collection of minigames, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is fine enough for a general audience. However, the Switch's potent line-up of multiplayer titles makes this offering worth ignoring.

Although it may be a very bad Contra entry, Rogue Corps isn't a total wash. The upgrade system provides decent customization, and the gameplay is serviceable, but far from extraordinary. It's just not what you want from the long-buried franchise.

The Hong Kong Massacre is a classic case of style over substance. The beauty of the title's slow-motion bullet ballet is just a fancy cover for its frustrating, un-evolving gameplay.

Not even nostalgia can save Saban's Mighty Morphin: Power Rangers from feeling like a mediocre and rushed licensed screw-up.
