Since its announcement, Massive and Ubisoft have said all the right things about The Division 2, from a wealth of content to a robust endgame. For once, it's refreshing to see the reality be more than mere words as The Division 2 sets a new standard for the genre. This is the high bar "games as a service" should aspire to.

8.3 / 10.0 - Transference
Sep 6, 2018

Plucking inspiration from several unsettling sources of entertainment, Transference delivers a creepy, cerebral virtual reality tour through a broken family dynamic that is unimpeded by taxing puzzles and relishes in immersing players in haunted house of tragedy.

8.8 / 10.0 - Far Cry: New Dawn
Aug 25, 2018

Though Far Cry: New Dawn treads similar ground as its predecessor, this direct sequel signals the franchises is stretching its wings by introducing RPG mechanics and easily replayable content. This is still a game packed with zany characters, bizarre moments, and fast-paced fun.

7 / 10.0 - Anthem
Jun 17, 2018

In a matter of weeks Anthem has marveled with its engaging action and technical incompetence. As a power fantasy, the game achieves many co-op thrills but the highs are often spread too thin over questionable design choices. BioWare's pedigree feels suppressed by a game that needed much more time in the oven.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas is an entertaining blend of planet-hopping adventure and spaceship customization built on the back of the dormant toys-to-life genre. The level of care and detail put into making this unique slice of space isn't burdened by somewhat repetitive gameplay and exploitative systems.

MXGP Pro is functional enough to fulfill the cravings for players who want this kind of game, yet it serves as another example that developer Milestone needs to give more time and care to its franchises.

MotoGP 18 is the official game of the sport yet despite an extensive career mode and an overhauled engine, developer Milestone has only iterated rather than innovated.

Though abandoning the episodic format, Hitman 2 continues the incredible promise of the 2016 reboot by giving players the exquisite task of cleverly eliminating targets in densely creative sandboxes on the quest to become the world's premiere bald assassin.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a celebration of the series' highlights, transforming the open world genre with its breathtaking scenery, meaningful choices, and exhausting amount of detail that rewards players every step of the way. Ubisoft Quebec's brave quest to make an RPG results in the best entry in Assassin's Creed's historic treks through time.

8.2 / 10.0 - The Mage's Tale
Feb 25, 2017

The path towards competent and engaging virtual reality games is littered with the corpses of tech demos and half-baked products. The Mage's Tale fires on many cylinders and becomes one of those mythic "must haves" not because it is simply decent but because it proves that VR has magic in it.

The HD version of Onimusha: Warlords is reminiscent of the wave of remasters that hit the PS3/360 era, which served as a passable way to introduce players to popular games from the previous generation. Rather than taking the route of the stellar Resident Evil HD Remaster, Capcom has put out a version of Onimusha that is easily accessible to a current audience and seems to act as a way to gauge player interest for the future of the franchise.

7 / 10.0 - Riddled Corpses EX
Jan 23, 2017

Riddled Corpses EX has enough indie charm to land without a thud in the niche twin-stick shooter space. An enjoyable foundation allows tense gameplay to occasionally shine but a repetitive loop that leans towards heavy grinding slows down what could have been 16-bit gem.
