8 / 10.0 - Void Bastards
Jun 5, 2019

Void Bastards is based on a neat concept inspired by many things, especially System Shock 2. Too bad it's a bit too monotonous.

8 / 10.0 - Metro Redux
Mar 6, 2020

The ports of Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light Redux on Switch are really surprising from a technical point of view. The gloomy and overwhelming feeling of the scenarios conflicts with the portability of the Nintendo console, but this should be considered as an invitation to play after dark...

Song of Horror doesn't hide its sources of inspiration, the milestones of the survival horror genre. It finds some elegant ways to pay them homage, sometimes succeeding very well, especially with the creepy atmosphere and music, some other times slipping clumsily (like in the case of some of the puzzle design, way too cryptic).

8 / 10.0 - Thymesia
Aug 17, 2022

Behind its souls-like mask, Thymesia hides a gameplay surprisingly dynamic, engaging and full of fun challenges. Even if it cannot really punch above its weight and reach the high levels of some of the greatest (due in large part to a story that doesn't really shine), this OverBorder Studio game shouldn't be overlooked, especially by the fans of the genre.

Amnesia: The Bunker manages to be a challenging and unsettling experience without falling into the easy temptation of jumpscares or holding the player's hand too much. Whether you memorized the previous chapters or decided to give the Amnesia saga a chance for the first time, this game proves to be a new success achieved by Frictional Games and a satisfying experience for all survival horror lovers.

while True: learn() is a nice puzzle game that manages to be both funny and educational.

Jan 27, 2020

The game experience with Journey to the Savage Planet has been more than positive: if you love first person platformers, sci-fi and you are not really made for seriousness, you will certainly find "Grob" for your teeth...

7.7 / 10.0 - Lucid Dream
Nov 12, 2018

Despite some flaws, Lucid Dream certainly deserves a chance because of its wonderful surreal setting – entirely hand drawn – and the events that revolve around the little, "Alice-like" protagonist.

7.5 / 10.0 - Rad
Aug 19, 2019

A nice roguelike by Double Fine Productions, even if it's a bit shallow.

7.3 / 10.0 - Just Cause 4
Dec 3, 2018

The latest adventure of Rico Rodriguez, with its good dose of adrenaline and over-the-top action, forces our hero to embark on a real impossible mission to dismantle the dangerous Project Illapa. Despite the lack of variety and the exaggerated length of the campaign, Just Cause 4 still manages to push the boundaries of players' imagination, dragging them once again into a world of destruction, explosions and pure chaos.

7.2 / 10.0 - Call of Cthulhu
Oct 30, 2018

On one hand, Call of Cthulhu is able to drag the player into an adventure with a dark and oppressive atmosphere, in which nobody really seems to be on our side, and curiosity can turn out to be our worst enemy. On the other hand, the little care given to some aspects of the game and the implementation of certain mechanics transform this game into a missed opportunity to celebrate the works of H.P. Lovecraft.

7.1 / 10.0 - World War Z
Apr 23, 2019

Uninspired and with a bunch of issues, this fast paced shooter can fill the void left in the hearts of Left 4 Dead fans.

7 / 10.0 - Beyond Blue
Jun 11, 2020

The main problem of Beyond Blue is that, in the end, it doesn't do enough to fulfill its main task: to inspire curiosity about the beautiful Blue world of the ocean and make you want to watch all the documentaries of the same name.

7 / 10.0 - Kirby Fighters 2
Oct 5, 2020

Kirby Fighters 2 can be a nice introduction to fighting games, especially for children. But don't get deceived: the first levels might be easy to beat, but the later ones will prove challenging even for those familiar with the genre.

7 / 10.0 - Twin Mirror
Dec 3, 2020

Twin Mirror is a good adventure, albeit with its flaws. Even without infusing its new IP with the same depth of character development shown in past works, DONTNOD still managed to create a well done self-contained story and enrich it with interesting additional mechanics. But despite all this, Twin Mirror's story feels like it could have used a few more hours.

6.8 / 10.0 - Layers of Fear 2
May 24, 2019

Layers of Fear 2 retains many of the features of its predecessor while varying the setting greatly. Wandering in solitude on the Icarus in search of the truth is undoubtedly a claustrophobic experience, however, the continuous use of the more classic clichés of the horror genre makes the final result too predictable and inevitably much less terrifying than expected.

Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones has an interesting art direction and a good Lovecraftian inspiration, but seems to be split in half between its nice all-around RPG mechanics and a slow and not very engaging turn-based strategic combat.

Follia: Dear Father is simple but intriguing survival horror made by small Italian software house. As many other indie titles, it is full of nice ideas but crippled by lots of imperfections. Its VR nature makes it hard to be enjoyed from a normal screen.

6.8 / 10.0 - Hellpoint
Aug 3, 2020

Hellpoint is a recommended game, even if not for everyone. If you are not a soulslike fan, spending about twenty hours in a less refined game than a "Souls-Borne" is certainly not a wise choice. If, on the other hand, you are a big fan of the genre, give it a chance as long as you are willing to ignore small but numerous bugs.

6.6 / 10.0 - Anthem
Feb 23, 2019

Anthem is a hymn to laziness, where a great potential is held back by strong repetitiveness, the absence of some basic features and the artificially increased level of difficulty. Moreover, BioWare and Electronic Arts made an incomplete product, a mere idea of a full game with the promise that each patch will bring us closer to what we might call a final product. Still, is it possible to have fun with a group of friends and spend some pleasant time exploring or fighting? Sure, but the experience will quickly turn into an infinite loop devoid of any goal.
