Unfortunately, the gameplay itself never rose above mediocrity and the time I spent in battle, I was just mindless mashing buttons to try and get to the next story beat. Throw in the fact that my character was usually under leveled because of my lack of wanting to kill off NPCs and the games combat was never fun and usually borderline maddening.

If you have kids that like to build or draw in their free time, Super Mario Maker 2 is an excellent addition to their screen time. When they aren't around, you'll be equally enthralled with the game especially if you have a history with the Mario franchise. Small gripes like building levels on the TV pale in comparison to the overall enjoyment you'll get from this game's enormous amount of content. Super Mario Maker 2 is a must play game and will go down as one of the best games released for the Nintendo Switch.

Age hasn't slowed Torchlight 2 down and being able to play on the consoles is just the shot of adrenaline the series needed to get us excited for the future release of Torchlight Frontiers.

While it's certainly not instant classic status like Alan Wake was for me, it's close. The creepy environment, totally out there storyline, and fun combat give it a unique presence in a world of AAA games that love to repeat the same mechanics and story year after year.

It's an amazing expansions and what vanilla Destiny 2 should have been. You'll rarely ever run out of things to do and the changes to all of the systems are so well tuned that it's a much more cohesive game that tries to return to it's hobby roots. It will have it's detractors who won't be happy about anything the game does and some areas like the raid will remain impossible for anyone but the most hardcore Destiny players, but overall it's a solid addition to an already really good base game. It comes highly recommended from us here at The Dadcade.

At the end of the day, is Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey a good game? Yes, it most certainly is. If you have enjoyed the games in the past and followed the stories over the years, you know what you are getting here and it’s exactly what you would want. I do wish some of the side quests and grinding were trimmed down and the game focused more on the main story beats, but as it stands, it’s still a fantastic game and a worthy addition to the series.

Overall though, Far Cry 5 is a great experience. I could list out issues with the game and it's story, but at the end of the day there is one question that needs to be asked, was it fun? My answer to that is a resounding yes

Essential - Luigi's Mansion 3
Nov 13, 2019

Luigi's Mansion 3 easily sits alongside Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild as must own Switch titles. It's a great time to be a Nintendo fan when the company is producing hits like these on a system that isn't trying to break new ground with weird gimmicks. Luigi's Mansion 3 is a return to form for the series and the type of game I want to see more of on the system. It's a very "Nintendo" Nintendo game if that makes sense. Incredible gameplay, a funny light-hearted story, and colorful graphics that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas is a solid space shooter that excels when it let's you unload on enemy ships in space. The ground combat is perfectly serviceable, but the game truly shines when you're flying through the stars and traveling between planets. You wouldn't be remiss if you got vibes of No Man's Sky from some of the space exploration and your ability to go from space to a planet's surface in one transition. The toys to life aspect is available if you want to go that route, but it's by no means required since this is completely playable digitally. This holiday season, consider picking up Starlink if you're in the market for a solid space shooter with a decent sci-fi story.

2.5 / 5.0 - A Knight's Quest
Oct 18, 2019

There is a good game under the surface here and you can tell a lot of hard work went into creating this game. It's just unfortunate the technical issues and odd design choices put a damper on the experience quite the way it does. With a very crowded 2019 Q4 and 2020 Q1, I can't see A Knight's Quest taking up much of your gaming time with what is being offered.
