Should you buy Resident Evil 4 again? If portable Resident Evil 4 is something you are even mildly wanting, then yes. If you have never owned Resident Evil 4 before, then yes. If water is something you can't live without, then yes. See what I'm trying to say here? Sure, there is nothing new added to the game, but does it really need anything new? This may be the eleventh time that Resident Evil 4 has been re-released, but that's fine. The game still holds up great today and plays perfectly on Nintendo's console, albeit without motion controls.

10 / 10.0 - Death Stranding
Jul 22, 2020

f you are a fan of Kojima’s work, most people will probably know of him because of the Metal Gear series, then you should know what to expect when it comes to story elements in Death Stranding. Knowing that Hideo Kojima is such a huge fan of cinema, it is no surprise that he would want to have a lush storyline full of twists and turns. In some ways, replaying Death Stranding on PC was more enjoyable as I knew exactly what was going on at every given moment. Most of Kojima’s work has that element about it though. You can expect that most cut scenes are quite lengthy though, with one cutscene lasting approximately 2 hours!

Once again, Mario and his friends Princess Peach, Toad, and (THE BEST BROTHER) Luigi are enjoying themselves when they spot a strange tube that looks like it is in ill repair. Mario and Luigi fix the pipe and low and behold a faery comes out and warns the group that series baddie Bowser is holding her people hostage. Of course, after warning the group of what is going on, Bowser appears and steals the faery. The dynamic group then jumps into the tube and thus that is the beginning of this adventure.

Diablo III is one of those games that seems to come out on every platform, but there is a damn good reason for it. Even after almost 7 years, it still holds up as one of the best dungeon crawlers we have seen to date. The graphics are great, the music is great, the overall experience of Diablo III: Eternal Collection still gives me eternal joy. It’s rejuvenated my hype for the day when Blizzard Entertainment finally announces Diablo 4.

9.5 / 10.0 - Resident Evil 2
Jan 26, 2019

Capcom has delivered not only an amazing remake of Resident Evil 2, its an even scarier game than the original. The Visuals look absolutely stunning on all platforms, the audio amplifies the tension and the atmosphere, and the overall recreation of the classic game fills you with both awe and dread as you experience the same, yet different, game we all love. Newcomers to the game will love trying to solve all of the puzzles as they strive to stay alive, whereas veterans of the franchise will have a reason to jump back in and experience it all over again. This is clearly one of the best remakes we’ve seen on current gen hardware and raises the bar for likewise titles moving forward; It’s a worthy contender for Game of the Year – not bad for a 20-year-old game which was released in January! Bravo Capcom, Bravo.

9.5 / 10.0 - Cuphead
Aug 2, 2020

The story of Cuphead is admittedly not going to change your life, but the fact is that the game isn’t about having a Final Fantasy-esque plot, it’s a boss rush! One day Cuphead and Mugman enter the Devil’s Casino and after amassing a fortune, the Devil offers them a bet that was too hard to resist, double their money or forfeit their souls. Little did our heroes know that in the end, the house ALWAYS wins, even if by nefarious means, so of course the Devil wins, but he gives Cuphead and Mugman a deal. If they can chase down other debtors who are on the run from the Devil and collect their souls instead, he’ll consider their debt paid off.

9 / 10.0 - The Messenger
Mar 25, 2019

The Messenger is without a doubt a game that gamers should not pass up on. I very much enjoyed every aspect of the game from the hilarious banter between the Messenger and the shopkeeper to the platforming and the boss fights. I cannot see any one aspect of the game I did not enjoy. If this is the first game made by Sabotage Studio, then I would say that they have a bright future ahead of them in the games industry.

9 / 10.0 - Rage in Peace
Nov 8, 2018

The fact that Rage in Peace is Rolling Glory Jam’s first game they have created is truly unbelievable. You can literally feel the passion that every member of the team has for the game as you play this wonderful indie title. Sure, it has its moments, which feel cheap, when the difficulty gets to a point where you have to either focus really hard to conquer that section or just walk away and take a break. However, wanting to know how the story concludes is what pushed me through those tough parts, and I am glad it did. I plan on keeping an eye on this studio in the future!

I can’t stress enough how much fun Friday the 13th: The Game Ultimate Slasher Edition is. Each round you play online is unique from the last one, offering hours of replayability and exciting experiences. I don’t know how many times I would sit down to play the game and find myself saying “Ok, just one more round” multiple times as my wife would yell at me to go to bed – “Oh, I’m sorry dear, I’m just decapitating counsellors because they suck!!”. The Nintendo Switch version of the game is great as it has all the DLC and you can play it on the go.

Let us talk about the racing itself. It’s fast, hella fast! Your car can get up to high 700 mph fast!! Even Sonic can’t hold a candle to that. The beauty of Grip is that the race can go in many directions, as there is no one direct path to make it through a course. With the ability to your vehicle up virtually any walls and onto the ceiling, you can find yourself in the middle of a race and see someone above you, or on the wall beside you. This is a refreshing way to race in a time where most racing games are cut and dry.

Some games don’t really age too well, even after a touch up from the developers; Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered isn’t one of these – it’s a timeless classic which has only got even more beautiful and enchanting with age. Don’t let this brilliant remaster go into your backlog.

8.5 / 10.0 - Super Blood Hockey
Apr 30, 2019

I went into Super Blood Hockey thinking it was just a homage to Nintendo’s ‘Ice Hockey’ but I quickly realised that it was much more than that! It was as if the developer took the classic title and used it as a starting point to create a much bigger and bloodier game than I could ever imagine. I love the progression you get via completing the various challenges to unlock all the special options and the Franchise Mode was something that I simply did not see coming. Come for the hockey and stay for all the shenanigans!

The Castlevania Anniversary Collection is a fine assortment of games, presented in a way that I hope more developers mimic when compiling collections of classic games. The bonus book that is included with the game is probably one of the neatest digital books I have ever seen. The only issues I had with the game was the very little work put into porting the games themselves, as they came off as simple ROMs within an emulator. Regardless of how they’ve been placed upon modern systems, the games are just as hard as they used to be and they’re sure to challenge old and new gamers, even with save states. Relive this classic franchise today and pick up both this and the Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood collections today.

The amount of levels in the games is pretty nice, but if you feel like you want to take the game to the next level, you can also make your own skate park or go online and play a custom made park by someone else. I found it to be crazy that the game has not been out in the wild very long but there are some incredibly fun (and detailed) parks already available made by people with much more creativity than myself.

8.5 / 10.0 - Call of Cthulhu

The RPG element pulls from the tabletop side version of the game with character sheets and skill checks. With the different encounters you have with people, you will have dialogue choices that will change the flow of the story.

8.5 / 10.0 - Bravely Default 2
Mar 7, 2021

I want to be blunt with you, if you are not conditioned to what we old-timers call “The Grind” then Bravely Default 2 might not be for you. In between chapters, you will NEED to go off the beaten path in search of treasures and enemies to fight if you want to have any chance in hell beating the bosses at the end of every dungeon.
