I’d say that it’s worth picking up to conclude Spider-Man’s DLC story arc. Just don’t expect anything mind-blowing.

80 / 100 - Unruly Heroes
Jun 3, 2019

While reading this review, you’d have noticed that I’ve barely mentioned the game’s story and characters. That’s because the story and characters in Unruly Heroes are both lackluster. Also, the voice acting is amateurish and the dialogue is a bit too self-aware for its own good. Don’t expect this game’s plot to blow you away since, at best, it’s functional and inoffensive.

80 / 100 - Observation

She never seems to give any hints or suggestions and it was frustrating to get stuck on a puzzle because I didn’t have any idea of what to do or because SAM’s cursor had just missed a crucial puzzle object I needed so I didn’t realize that I could even interact with it.

76 / 100 - Outer Wilds
Oct 29, 2019

In the end, Outer Wilds is all about exploring a mysterious solar system and finding out its secrets. I had a fun time flying around in space and it’s good for the gaming industry as a whole to have an adventure game like this that’s about exploring a world without having to shoot or fight enemies. However, Outer Wilds doesn’t do a great job at guiding players. Instead, you are left aimlessly exploring until you figure out what to do next.

The run-and-gun gameplay felt great, I liked the over-the-top level design, the story was a neat throwback to a time when game stories were simple, and the bosses were memorable. I just wished the game wasn’t so frustrating to get through.

70 / 100 - BELOW
Apr 18, 2020

Below is a roguelike that excels at making players truly feel like they’re a lone adventurer on a dangerous island filled with secrets. I liked its simple, colorful art style, its music, and atmosphere, but the gameplay pushed me away.

70 / 100 - Beyond Blue
Jun 20, 2020

Beyond Blue is a relaxing, short $20 edutainment game that’ll be a fun time for gamers who are curious about the deep blue sea and its inhabitants. Just don’t go into it expecting gameplay that’s deeper than a puddle.

50 / 100 - Shenmue III

I didn’t head into Shenmue 3 with high expectations due to its budget but the game still failed to meet even those lowered expectations.

Throughout my time with the game, I thought about how money someone should spend to buy this game and I eventually decided on an amount: No more than three dollars.
