WWE 2K20 features a lot of modes and a full WWE roster but that's all you get in the game. If you want to enjoy the game, you have to get along with numerous technical issues, forget about any online feature, and get used to the awkward narration of MyPlayer.
The game is clunky and frustrating. It provides some fun in estimating firing ranges for your tanks, but it makes that fun really hard to get to and loads it with the burdens of no tutorial, subpar UI, and frustrating movement mechanics. Whatever you'd come to this game looking for, it's probably done better somewhere else.
In the end, while fast paced and good for a fitting end to a bad day at work, Sacred 3's gameplay simply lacks everything that makes a great ARPG: Loot, leveling, questing, and a basic (and well-written) story.
Clam man got a smile or two out of me in places, but at best it's a semi-interactive read along that tries to be a bit out there but falls flat.
I actually volunteered to play Syberia 3 after watching the trailers. I even went so far as to play for a few hours on PlayStation 4 to see if the experience would be different. Sadly, it was not. It seemed like a game with such promise and that it would somehow be something more than what it ultimately became. To say that I am disappointed is to understate things greatly. Let’s hope that Microids lets the Syberia IP go, or at least wait a good long while before making another one that is worthy of the first two games because Syberia 3 isn’t it.
At the end of the day, Swords of Gargantua is a dull affair overall. Sure, when it's working flawlessly it can be enjoyable, but the sword play just doesn't feel accurate enough overall to make it stand out among the great VR wave combat games like Space Pirate Trainer, Raw Data and others. There are plenty of things to unlock in Gargantua, and if you have a friend who owns both the game and a VR set up it can be fun to fight alongside them. However, in the end, the core hook of Swords of Gargantua - the sword play - just doesn't feel up to snuff.
Vigor is a looter-shooter experience that presents a strong form in its post-looting part, but when it comes to action moments, the game lacks required challenge due to its unbalanced design. Vigor will worth playing if the developer attempts to add more new content to the game.
As much as I wanted to love Bombshell, and in some ways do despite its flaws, I cannot recommend the game in its current state.
All in all, Van Helsing III isn't a bad game exactly, but it's not a great game either and in some ways, it's a disappointing end to what has otherwise been a good series in the ARPG genre. For my money, the series reached its zenith at the second and should have closed the door then.
Vikings is an OK game but it’s nothing special given its potential based on setting. For a certain type of combo action fighting with arcade-style speed type of person, it may be perfectly fine. For an ARPG fan who was looking for the next great game, it’s just not there yet.
Not a title for the faint-hearted or for anyone who may already be depressed. However, if you're looking for an experience that will yield an understanding of those who suffer from debilitating depression -- and that is a worthy goal -- then Actual Sunlight may be the right choice.
As with their previous work on Dreamfall Chapters, developers have provided players with a breathtaking, interesting world to explore that is set in a historical era and location that is little seen in games today. Wandering through the world is a visual and aural treat that is somewhat let down by two divergent mysteries that are never adequately explored or resolved.
That said, however, Another Lost Phone: Laura’s Story is an interesting, topical game that touches on some important issues with regard to our connected world and the impact it can have on young people. If you go into it knowing that you need to really be on top of the UI thing, you’ll find a good story that you’ll find yourself pondering over long after the game is finished.
All in all, if you’re a fan of open world exploration and complex combat, ELEX may be the game for you, though I would add the caveat that you may want to see how things improve over the coming months. There’s already a plan for a Day 1 patch that may take care of some of the game’s most glaring issues.
Neverwinter is worth a visit by anyone who is a fan of both MMOs and of action-RPGs. Despite some glaring issues, including the lacklustre PvP and the Zen Market, the game is wildly fun and is a worthwhile detour on one's journey through the MMO space today. It remains to be seen what Cryptic does with the feedback it has received from the players during the past month, but Neverwinter is one to keep an eye on as time goes by. As the title says, Neverwinter is an Astral Diamond in the Rough.
There is no question that Van Helsing II is head and shoulders above its predecessor in terms of game play and in the replayability factor that the additional two classes bring to the game. It's a solid entry into the aRPG market and one that fans of the genre are sure to enjoy. It's a fantastic bargain and quite a lot of fun to play.
Yaga on PC is a fun romp through an underused setting. Slavic lore is fascinating and the game hands it to you by the bucket. However, while the story is fun, the setting is fantastic, and the graphics are terrific, Yaga's gameplay suffers from mediocrity despite some interesting-ish mechanics.
The Surge 2 feels more like a heavy update for the original game with minor gameplay changes, new world and settings, and well-designed bosses. It still delivers an enjoyable hardcore experience, thanks to the balanced and smoothly working combat system, but you need to get along with a superficial story and dated graphics.
Although there were some cringy-dialogue options and I feel as if I spoiled the entire mystery by asking the curator for advice, I enjoyed my time playing through the story and trying to escape with as many – or as few – survivors as possible.
When all is said and done, Brut@l is a decent hack’n’slash game with better-than-average combat and a totally wicked graphic style. While not on par with classic ARPGs like Diablo II or Titan Quest, it’s still a lot of fun and worth the $14.99 (11.99 through the 16th) price tag.
