Mythic Ocean isn’t about putting limits on the player for the sake of progression. Instead, it encourages you to dive deep into its story and rewards you with a world full of life, color, music, and meaning that is sure to stay with you for years to come.
You will not find a better bargain for your buck as far as story-rich horror games go. Inscryption is a meager $20 on Steam, and I honestly wish they would have charged more for it. I would have paid far more for it. It hasn’t won several awards for nothing! With that being said, I do appreciate the pricing because it makes the game available to more of their audience that might not have been able to afford it. If you’re at all hesitant, don’t be. Just do it. Take the leap, and play Inscryptionfor yourself.
Would I recommend Alwa’s Legacy? Yes, a hundred times over, yes. It is fun from the very beginning to end, and invites you to explore the contents of its world without hand-holding or a curfew to pull you down.
I would highly suggest giving this game a try for its story alone. Coupled with pleasant music and a distinctive art style, it is well worth the price of $10.99 on Steam. I enjoyed playing the game so much that I would even go as far to say that it was really worth double that. Though I did miss that feeling of player freedom, I did feel that there was enough there to keep me engaged in what was going on from a narrative point of view. Luckily, or not so luckily, you play an old witch who has made a pact with an ancient, black goat that's fond of eating grimoire pages and expects you to do something about the fairytale world's woes. What ensues is hours of hilariously creative dialogue and story, framed by colorful characters, relaxing music, and an enjoyable crafting system. There are always more spells to cast and mushrooms to pick for those that know where to look. Wytchwood is one of those rare gems that supports its rich story with a very successful crafting and gathering system that rewards creative and conniving crones. Collect all the souls and maybe, just maybe, you can enjoy that nap in your rocking chair without fairytale creatures knocking down your door for help. Who are we kidding? There's always another villain.
If you have played Heavy Rain before, I haven't. So I can't quite recommend to you whether or not to purchase this game because of any differences it may have had between console and PC.
