While its style and music is top-notch, Spectra just doesn't have the captivating gameplay to truly shine.
If the PlayStation 4 wasn't filled with far better action games, then Onechanbara Z2: Chaos could be cautiously recommended. Sadly, there are much better games available on the system with fleshed out battle systems that put this to shame. Onechanbara Z2: Chaos isn't a terrible game, it just manages to be mediocre in almost every aspect.
While the racing action has never looked or played better, F1 2015 unfortunately disappoints in its lack of modes.
The Swindle is a game that many will end up playing for months to come. The gameplay is the perfect combination of stealth and action, and its difficulty, while brutal, is satisfying. Size Five Games, and publisher Curve Digital, have created an addictive game that needs to be played by anyone who loves a good challenge. Throw in cross-buy and cross-save compatibility, and you'll never leave your house without The Swindle in pocket.
There's a ton of content to be found in Sword Art Online Re: Hollow Fragment, but unfortunately, its portable roots hold it back.
If you want to relive your memories as a kid or just want to see how Mega Man got his start, then Mega Man Legacy Collection is an easy recommendation. The price point of $14.99 is perfect for the collection, and hopefully we'll see Digital Eclipse work on similar collections for the SNES Mega Man games in the future. The challenges are a great touch, and help round out a stellar collection of gaming classics.
I am Bread is initially a very frustrating game to play, but it makes up for it by being full of charm and character. While the controls may never become second nature, there is a lot of fun to be had in Bossa Studios' second PS4 game. While it's still a patch or two away from being an easy recommendation (fix that camera!), I am Bread is still worth a purchase if you are looking for a fun title in the vein of Surgeon Simulator.
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is one of the most unique games to come out in quite some time. In fact, the only thing keeping it from being a blast for everyone is its intense difficulty.
If you have friends to play with then Zombie Vikings will be a fun way to spend a couple days with them. Otherwise, it's a brawler with a lot of heart, but not enough variety. Zoink Games may have not struck gold with their initial outing into the brawler genre, but there is a lot of potential waiting to be fulfilled.
I never had a particularly fun time while playing the several-hour journey, but by the end, I had grown attached to Rae. Beyond Eyes, in all of its beauty and darkness, had managed to fill my eyes with tears by being one of the most emotionally gripping games I have ever played.
Only time will tell if the story manages to cash in on its intriguing premise, but right now this is an entertaining way to spend a few hours.
Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance manages to be the best game in NIS America's beloved series. Not only does it add additional complexity, it's also the most newcomer friendly entry.
While there are some rough edges, FIFA 16 stands out as the best football game in recent memory. The new dribbling mechanic adds a ton of depth to the game, and women's soccer is finally represented (even if it isn't the high point it should be). Die-hard fans will be glad to know it is as fun as ever, and there are enough hooks for even casual fans to have a ton of fun.
Overall, Extreme Exorcism doesn't have the pick up and play quality of other games in the genre and fails to captivate audiences.
While there are certainly some stumbling points, NBA 2K16 is another great entry in 2K's series. Livin' Da Dream may feature more cutscenes than Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but it's an interesting way to present a career mode. Visual Concepts is not afraid to take risks, and most of them have paid off in NBA 2K16.
Thief Town undoubtedly has a lot of promise, but it hasn't reached its true potential yet. With additional modes, levels, and weapons it could very well be challenging games like Sportsfriends and Nidhogg as definitive hits to pull out during a party. In its current state, Thief Town is still a lot of fun, just a step down from the very best that the PlayStation 4 has to offer.
Grand Ages: Medieval may have lackluster combat, but an interesting trade system manages to keep the gameplay interesting.
Ride is a great racing title from veteran studio Milestone S.r.l.. It manages to have depth for veteran players, while also being accessible to new racers. If you're sick of driving cars, and want a new challenge then Ride will offer up a fun one to master.
There's a really special game inside Elite: Dangerous for those that are willing to put up with the steep learning curve. If you're not though, it's too confusing of an experience.
Blood Bowl 2 will require patience to learn its ins and outs, but thankfully it has a great way to teach you the ropes throughout its campaign.
