Those players looking for a brand new Cities: Skylines 2 game will be disappointed that this is just another expansion being released to add to the long list of additional expansions already out. However, I’m not one of those people. After playing the expansion, I think that Cities: Skylines Plazas & Promenades and the two creator packs are some of the best additions (along with Airports, Industries and Mass Transit DLC) that Colossal Order has made for the game. I love that I can add more walkability to my cities, make large and small pedestrian areas or cover the entire city with pedestrian streets if I want to. If you are a Cities: Skylines player like myself who finds great enjoyment in beautifying your city, you’re going to love Plazas & Promenades as much as I do.
The Spirit and the Mouse is an adventure game that will warm the cockles of your heart and leave you with warm fuzzy feelings. You can see the love the devs have put into the game; Lila is a perfect mouse. She can even squeak at the press of a button. It’s a game about kindness and helping others, something we could all do with remembering in this crazy world we inhabit.
LEGO Bricktales is suitable for all ages to play; children and adults alike will love being able to play with LEGO bricks in the game. The story is charming; I really enjoyed it. In addition, each diorama is unique; brightly coloured and full of LEGO bricks. The puzzles are very enjoyable and challenging. The game encourages you to be creative, especially in the sandbox mode. I like the freedom the game offers in the puzzles, as there isn’t just one way to solve a puzzle. It’s great fun thinking outside the box and finding your own solution to the puzzles.
The Battle of Polytopia is not too simple, however, the system makes decision-making interesting and meaningful. The Battle of Polytopia would make an excellent starting ground for players who want to get into the 4X strategy before taking on other games in the genre similar to Civilization and such. The game is suitable for all ages and is family-friendly, a great starting ground to teach youngsters the skills of strategy gaming.
Victoria 3 is a deep, engaging, grand strategy game to get lost in. It is pretty clear that Paradox Development Studios have put a lot of care and attention into the game to make it accessible for new players to try. It’s a slow and well-structured game that rewards patience for players who like to see their long-term planning playout. However, I don’t think it is a game for all strategic players to enjoy; the micromanagement will put many players off the game. But players like myself who love the game’s deepness and strategy will be rewarded with hours of enjoyment.
Dolmenjord – Viking Islands is a cute, wholesome puzzle game. Once again, a quality title from Mens Sana Interactive. It is enjoyable to play with gorgeous artwork to look at; what’s not to like? I’d recommend Dolmenjord – Viking Islands to any puzzle-loving fans
The world of Draconia’s floating islands is a beautiful setting for an open-ended adventure. An adventure where hunting for treasure and monsters can become equally addictive. Dragon Quest Treasures is an absolute delight to play, where you can take your time and discover all corners of Draconia without pressure. There is an amazing amount of quests to complete, accompanied by a recognisable cast of lovable characters. Hunting for shiny, sparking treasure is such fun and full of surprises.
Overall, I enjoyed playing Twistingo: Bird Paradise Collector’s Edition. The puzzles are suitable for any age, and the game is beautiful to look at while playing. Twistingo: Bird Paradise Collector’s Edition has a good variety of puzzles to keep any puzzle fan busy for hours on end. I can’t find any reason to give Twistingo: Bird Paradise a lower score than…
Overall, I really enjoyed playing Rytmos. While I cannot play a musical instrument in real life, I don’t think that matters when playing Rytmos. The developers have made the game so that it is educational, entertaining and, most of all, fun. Puzzle fans should enjoy this musical trip worldwide; you never know, you might even learn something new.
Terra Nil is a game that will make you aware of how important the balance of nature is. And how each living thing on the earth connects to each other. It doesn’t lecture, but its gameplay does make you think about the environment. It is a well-thought-out restoration game with relaxing gameplay, gorgeous visuals, and a nice challenge.
GrimGrimoire OnceMore is a mix of a visual novel broken up by RTS battles. I went into GrimGrimoire OnceMore without knowing whether I would like the game or not! You see, the visual novel’s gameplay style isn’t my thing. However, I fell in love with the game, but it is not a title for everyone. Though if you’re in the mood for a clever strategy game that is fun and features battles and beautiful artwork and scenes, and a good story, then GrimGrimoire OnceMore definitely is recommended.
Once again, Nintendo has proved why they, as a company, are still around and producing fantastic video games. The Legend of Zelda has always been a wonderful game series, and Tears of the Kingdom is no exception; Nintendo smashed this one out of the park. I love it, and everything that Nintendo has changed, updated, and improved on from BOTW is evident in their six years of Tears of the Kingdom development. If you only ever play one video game, it should be The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This game is magnificent, gorgeous and outstanding. It is absolute bliss to be back in Hyrule, Tears of the Kingdom is a sublime experience. Two thumbs Up is our highest score, but it doesn’t feel like it’s high enough for Tears of the Kingdom; if I could, it would be a four thumbs up from me.
Crime O’Clock is a well-put-together game that held my attention right until the last clue was found and the case solved. I liked having Eve’s help, and I loved the humour. Additionally, being a detective is incredibly satisfying when you solve a case, and all clues and the ticks fall into place to reveal the culprit. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being a detective, and for players who like using their deduction skills, Crime O’Clock has crimes aplenty to solve.
Sea of Stars constantly finds ways to keep the story and characters interesting and surprise you with creative and fun plot twists. With over thirty hours of enjoyable gameplay, Sea of Stars might be just what you are looking for if you are a fan of RPGs. It’s definitely a Two thumbs up score from me for this gem of a game!
I’ve had a blast with My Little Universe; it is a cosy worldbuilding collect-a-thon. It urges the player to explore further and discover what is on the next hex. My Little Universe is a wholesome, relaxing game for those who want the thrill of exploring and collecting infinite resources. Suitable for all ages in the family, it also has a very addictive gameplay loop and watching Orangey go to work and swing his tools is brilliant; I wish I had his energy!
For new players and those players who enjoyed the first game, you will have as much fun, if not more, with Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic. It feels like the developers have put their heart and soul into Hidden Through Time 2, and it’s a lot more challenging than the first game. For me, out of the two games, I think this one is the best.
Cities: Skylines II has much to life up to, and you. know what? This is a fantastic start to a fabulous game. I’m excited for the future of city building. The game will take off once the modders get to work and Colossal Order pushes out the usual updates. If you buy Cities: Skylines II, you can expect unfamiliarity, familiarity, surprises and the occasional frustration. But once you settle into it, plenty of new gameplay mechanics will keep you on your toes. I love it, and I can see that Colossal Order love their game, too. I predict Cities: Skylines II will be even more successful than it’s predecessor.
All in all, Buddy and Friends on Halloween is a wholesome experience for youngsters and adults alike. I don’t have any complaints about the game, except it’s short since there are only six puzzles. However, you can have a relaxing time puzzling for less than the price of a cup of coffee. The music, jigsaws and the final images combined set the scene for a spooktacular time.
SteamWorld Build is a delightful game where you always work towards interesting goals. The combination of city building and mining work in tandem together extremely well. It’s a brilliant pairing of opposites, from the bright sunshine on the surface to popping into the mine, which is dank and dark, with the SteamWorld aesthetic tying it all together.
A Highland Song is beautiful and heartwarming; it feels like you are in the highlands of Scotland that’s immersed in the area’s culture. A’body should play this game, enjoy Moira’s thoughts, and skedaddle aff over the auld highlands. A Highland Song is a wee belter of a game and one of the best games I’ve played this year when Moira and I saw the sea.
