Overwatch could very well come to dominate the hero shooter genre. There's plenty of room for improvement around the edges, but the core is strong enough to make this another huge hit for Blizzard.
Sonic Mania is a wonderful blend of classic Sonic and new ideas, and should serve as an example of the great things that can happen when game companies embrace fan creators. There's no reason Sonic Mania shouldn't be followed by multiple sequels that continue its remixing magic.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is a powerful game that tells a relevant story. It doesn't innovate much in terms of gameplay, but everything else about the game is executed at an impressively high level.
Dead Cells takes the best gameplay elements from Metroidvania and rogue-lite games and combines them into something that sinks its hooks into you and won't let go.
Echo Arena sets a new high bar for competitive multiplayer VR, and feels like a major step forward for virtual reality.
Infamous: Second Son is a fun, funny, and positively gorgeous game. The actual gameplay could have benefited from a bit more variety, but the game does the job well enough to be an obvious purchase for anyone with a PS4.
A no-brainer purchase for fans of both Minecraft and Telltale. Those who prefer Telltale's more complex and mature works may find this title a bit lacking, but the exciting story, quality writing, and talented voice cast make this a hard game to dislike.
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is a worthy addition to the Dishonored franchise. It doesn't eclipse any of the core games, but it's well worth your time and money if you're a fan of the series.
If you've spent years craving the old Fallout formula, The Outer Worlds will hit the spot.
Kentucky Route Zero tells a story unlike anything else you'll find in gaming. It uses a point and click adventure format that's pretty basic, but hits high notes with its dialogue, themes, and music.
If you've already played one or both of the titles included in The Handsome Collection this package might not be for you, unless the chance to play split-screen is too tempting to pass up. If you've never given the Borderlands series a try and are eager to test it out, The Handsome Collection is a great way to dive in.
Fans who contributed money hoping Pillars of Eternity would feel like a return to the era of Baldur's Gate-style RPGs will not be disappointed. Gamers who never played those Black Isle games may be frustrated by some of the "classic" gameplay elements, but Pillars offers a lot to like for those who want tactics and story in their RPGs.
Mixing a unique setting with classic strategic and board game elements, Armello is easy to recommend.
Donut County's gameplay doesn't offer much of a challenge, but the mechanics work as an engaging core for a game that delivers so many charming characters and genuine laughs.
Episode 4 makes Story Mode as a whole easy to recommend, and it will leave you itching to find out what the writers have planned for the final chapter.
No Man's Sky is all about the pure joy of exploration. It will be a polarizing game that will prove unsatisfying for some gamers, but it offers a vibrant, Zen-like experience others will treasure.
Dragon Quest Heroes II takes everything people love about Musou games and ramps up the fun factor. If the core gameplay elements don't interest you this game won't change your mind, but if large-scale action RPGs appeal to you even a little bit you'll likely have a blast with this one.
Sid Meier's Starships may not be exactly what fans were expecting as a follow-up to Beyond Earth, but viewed as a low-cost strategy title which can run on both older machines or iPad devices, it's a well-polished and addictive experience.
If you can accept the role that randomness plays in the overall game, Blood Bowl II offers a great deal of turn-based strategic fun.
Engaging and addictive action RPG gameplay makes Dragon Quest Heroes worth a look even for gamers who aren't fans of Dragon Quest or Dynasty Warriors.
