It should be very accessible to people who do not play a lot of games, even though I felt that by the end that the game had run out of steam and felt a bit too abstract for its own good. While the Switch version performs fine enough, the controls did feel like a drag when using a gamepad, which caused me to play the game in handheld mode with touch screen controls. A Little to the Left has a clear and unique identity among other puzzle games and while it won't last you an entire weekend there is enough here for those looking for a new type of puzzling challenge.

7 / 10.0 - LEGO Bricktales
Oct 11, 2022

While the normal LEGO games are all about action and cooperation, Bricktales's focus on creativity and puzzle solving makes it feel more grounded than the fantastical LEGO Star Wars and Marvel games. This is a game anyone with an understanding of the toy can pick up and enjoy. While a more mature single player will probably not stick around too long, this is one that families will definitely appreciate on whatever platform they choose to play.

7 / 10.0 - Youropa
Oct 8, 2022

However it must be said that this playtime feels extended by a sluggish pace that makes exploration and even some of the puzzle solving feel exhausting at times. The game runs good enough on Switch and for those who like trying their hand at creating games or levels of their own, Youropa has plenty to offer here. But if you're looking for something with its own personality or a story that will keep you engaged while solving these puzzles, you're going to have to pull some other strings.

7 / 10.0 - TOEM
Sep 13, 2021

Still, in some cases I'd argue that the journey is the destination. When it comes to TOEM the journey can be a little tedious and sometimes even a bit repetitive. But if you're looking for a slow paced game to relax over a weekend there's still a lot of charm and enjoyment to be found here.

7 / 10.0 - Alveole
Sep 1, 2021

But as the Switch has no internal achievement system, I don't think players here will derive much enjoyment from Alveole's core gameplay. However, if you're looking for something to drift away with and maybe get some of your thoughts in order, I think Alveole could be a meditative experience that may present you with some new insights or relief. That particular wheel may keep on spinning long after the experience is over.

7 / 10.0 - Say No! More
Apr 9, 2021

The levels are pretty repetitive and lack a lot of player agency. While the style, atmosphere, themes and story are very good I don't think I will return to Say No! More in the future. Not because I think I shouldn't say no more, if anything this game made me realize that I do say yes too many times in my life, but because like a good self-help book, the real change begins when you're finished reading the story.

It's a better Wii Fit, in the sense that Fitness Boxing 2 trims the fat (ha!) that were the slow exercises and loading times. But much like Wii Fit, I cannot guarantee that it will maintain your interest for long or present enough new features over time. At the very least, you won't have to stow away a balance board in a closet somewhere after punching out.

7 / 10.0 - Fight Crab
Sep 20, 2020

If you are looking for a deep fighting game, I guess you might be able to find it here, since it does have a style all its own. Personally, however, I can't wait to play this at parties in the future and have my friends duke it out as gigantic crustaceans. You might not play Fight Crab every day, but if you're looking for a unique and slightly odd multiplayer pick, I think you might have a blast with this one.

7 / 10.0 - Dodo Peak
Jul 31, 2020

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this Switch version and there is still enjoyment to be had. But after you've completed the 50 or so levels, there is very little to go back to. Much like the dodos themselves, there is a reason this type of gameplay has gone extinct on non-mobile platforms.

7 / 10.0 -
Feb 6, 2020

The puzzles are great and involve a lot of mechanics that introduce a good deal of variety and some clever uses of the power-shooting tool. One of the challenges of a puzzle game is providing a reason to replay, and unfortunately everything the game has to offer can be seen in your first playthrough. A good number of nice twists in the story will keep you engaged, but it doesn't quite reach the heights it seems to be aiming for.

Leaving the door open for future Mara adventures, I think that these characters really lend themselves to different genres and experiences. Even if I didn't pick up on many of the callbacks to Summer in Mara, I could tell that the developers really like these characters and this world they've created. Perhaps it's time to explore the RTS or RPG genre in Mara?.

7.5 / 10.0 - Have a Nice Death
Apr 4, 2023

Its unique style and theming definitely set it apart, although that really can't be said for the characters you meet along the way. On Switch, it is a fine experience, but do keep in mind that loading times will be a constant issue while traveling through Death Inc. I think it is good that there's a roguelike out there that forgoes the paperwork and just gets stuff done. What more can you ask for from a bureaucracy?.

7.5 / 10.0 - Lost in Random
Sep 25, 2021

Each time you make some good progress, the game throws in a combat scenario that just takes all the wind out of your sails. It made me actively want to play the game in slower chunks, just not to get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of these combat segments. Lost in Random definitely can hold its own against other titles and feels like a premium experience, but on it's way there the balance between randomness and thought out design may have gotten a bit lost.

7.5 / 10.0 - Umurangi Generation
Jun 14, 2021

It's still enjoyable to play on Switch, but you do have to deal with compromises in both handheld and docked mode. However, look past these issues and you'll find a unique indie photography game that stands on its own and tackles a story that goes beyond the basic photographer-experience. It's definitely a game that should be preserved for future generations.

7.5 / 10.0 - Haven
Feb 4, 2021

Something that isn't there to satisfy people that ship in-game characters or gives them additional stats, but two characters that live together and struggle together. They each have a complete personality and to see that flourish, to see them flourish together, is something I have rarely if ever experienced in a game. Haven is not perfect, certainly not on Switch, but I would follow these characters to the edge of space and beyond.

It's been a long time since I’ve played a great licensed game, but Spongebob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated is a joy to play.

With its cheeky cutscenes, action-platforming gameplay and side-quests that see you exploring all nooks and crannies of the world, the culmination makes for a fun game to play over a weekend. While I don't expect it to have the lasting impact that its inspiration has had, I am optimistic that Dopply continues to be inspired by games that others have rejected. So, let's hope that Arzette 2 might take after Zelda's Adventure. I'm definitely excited to see where this series can go.

The co-op, whether local or online is an absolute must and improves the experience by a mile. While you won't get too much out of the story and characters, the additional level packs add on top of the good serving of puzzles you'll encounter. I have to admit that after my time with Escape Academy, some actual escape rooms will have a hard time living up to this experience.

8 / 10.0 - Rytmos
Mar 23, 2023

However, what made this game truly a standout was that it not just used music as a way to enhance gameplay, but to actually teach me more about the music used. It felt as if the developers really wanted to share their love of music from all over the world with me. I could've never told you how African jazz sounded before playing this game, and I am really glad I discovered a genre like this thanks to Rytmos. The Switch version stutters occasionally and isn't a perfect port, but if you're looking for an easy to understand puzzle game that will get you through a few hours, this is absolutely one you should turn up the volume for.

8 / 10.0 - Foretales
Sep 16, 2022

Where stealing sometimes was the right answer in order to bribe guards and avoid a confrontation. While the switch version has a few gripes when it comes to the visual fidelity and the interface, I was very pleasantly surprised by the end product. If you like card games and want to play a narrative driven game with a refreshing approach, Foretales may just be exactly what you are looking for.
