If you're a Dragon Ball fan and want to explore the story again in a more immersive way, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is sure to please. Some gameplay moments may show its slowness and become a bit repetitive after a while, but the experience is, in general, quite fun and complete for fans of the series.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl honor the roots of the source material and elevate it in many ways. Marking a very welcome return to top-down aesthetics, the remakes rescue some of what made Pokémon special a few years ago. Problems that can already be considered structural in the series continue to exist, but hinder them in a less glaring way than in other more recent titles. It's worth remembering Sinnoh on Nintendo Switch and trying to catch all the little monsters again.

Ooblets makes a good effort in innovating on the numerous and currently highly popular farm sim genre, creating an interesting mix of genres in the process. The result is a game that doesn't dive deep into any of its elements but presents all of them in a light and dynamic fashion. Even if it's bound to a repetitive cycle of gathering missions in a world that can be adorable to some [players], the title offers a lot of content for the collectionists.

Baten Kaitos I & II Remaster arrives as the ideal way to experience these two classics in 2023. After almost two decades trapped in the Nintendo GameCube, it is finally possible to experience all the strangeness and creativity that this dormant franchise has to offer. Both titles show their age at times, in addition to having their own specific flaws, but it is undeniable that this collection brings the right improvements for RPG fans and the curious to enjoy these adventures anywhere with the Switch.

Despite some problems, it is not difficult to have fun and spend several hours exploring the world of Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. If you like this kind of game, but you've played Stardew Valley a thousand times, can't take Animal Crossing: New Horizons anymore, or just played the original or miss a good old Harvest Moon, go ahead without fear. There is a lot to do, more than I expected at the beginning, actually.

Ageless is a beautiful tale about empathy and purpose, with an ambience as simple as its message and full of puzzles that can be quite complicated. The game has several positive aspects, and it manages to develop its own identity to create an experience that deserves to be explored. However, there are also several stones in the way: gameplay can be repetitive, tiring and simply flawed and frustrating.

Nowhere Prophet is a large project by a small team that resulted in a different, innovative, intriguing and well-done job. There is no glaring flaw in what the game proposes, but there are undoubtedly points that could be better polished. Additionally, the genre itself, the large amount of text to read and rules to learn, the severe difficulty and the high learning curve make the game a niche game that will go unnoticed by many people. Fans of different card games and / or roguelikes, however, may like it a lot.

Old-fashioned role-playing fans, Harry Potter and other magical school environments fans, and enthusiasts for retro games in general will certainly appreciate Ikenfell. Unfortunately, some points prevent the title from becoming really unmissable or extremely memorable. The biggest problems are the structure of the narrative and the unbalanced challenge of the confrontations, but the overall package appeals to several points, such as its visuals, soundtrack, striking story and unique battle system.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is a really unique game. The end result may not have reached a certain level of exceptional quality, but the attempt to do something new has certainly reached its goal. As much as the central mechanics are bound to become tiring, it manages to blend two very different genres with mastery, and this is something very worthy of respect. If you like farm simulators, action platforms or simply indies who are not afraid to invent their own formula, Sakuna is a good option.

Myitopia is certainly a peculiar game. The simplicity of its systems and the constant repetition of its gameplay could easily make it just boring and tiring. However, the charisma and heart of the game manage to turn this formula into an addictive experience at times — if consumed in moderation, of course. If you forget about the roleplaying side a bit and accept Miitopia as a slower, more uncomplicated simulation pastime, it's easy to have a good laugh and have a lot of fun.

It's a shame that Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars has failed to reach its true potential. Kimihiko Fujisaka's art is impeccable, Keiichi Okabe's soundtrack is phenomenal and the ideas in general are very good, but they fall into a cycle of simplicity and repetition that ends up overshadowing some true genius moments. Despite the problems, this is a good short-lived RPG on Switch and probably the best option for anyone looking to play something using just the touchscreen.

For those who expected more than a Happy Home Designer sequel in DLC form, unfortunately Happy Home Paradise doesn't offer much more than that. In my case, the decoration is not the point that attracts me the most in Animal Crossing, so the process tends to get a little repetitive and tiring over time. I know a lot of people, however, who do not get tired of decorating and prefer to spend their time with the game frequently changing the look of their house and island. If you fit into the latter group, you will enjoy the expansion.

Tunic is just as much of a charming and creative game as it is difficult and frustrating. It's easy to imagine its cute visuals and similarities to Zelda will attract a public who wouldn't be inclined to explore everything it has to offer. This is an adventure that demands sharp reflexes and a good dose of patience, masking a tough and tiresome experience with its adorable shell. The performance on Switch could have been better but it will hardly cause more players to abandon it as much as the title's high challenge.

CONVERGENCE: A League of Legends Story is a Metroidvania that fails to leave its unique identity and goes far from becoming an unmissable experience, but it would be wrong to say that the title is not quite pleasant for what it is. With an interesting cast of characters, a vibrant and different aesthetic and a series of moments in which the gameplay is quite creative and competent, it is not that difficult to recommend the title for someone looking for a new game of the genre for their collection. Performance issues on the Switch and a certain amount of thematic repetition during gameplay can get in the way, but they are not strong enough reasons to prevent most players from testing this adventure.

Despite the flaws, ITTA is a title that stands out in a way. The graphics and fluid animations, for example, show zeal and delicacy while pleasing the eyes. Along with the intriguing narrative and the almost abstract sound part, the title manages to create a melancholy and introspective atmosphere that can be palpable. It is a pity that everything ends so quickly: it is possible to complete ITTA in about three to four hours without problems, and there is not much to do afterwards.

Nostalgic fans of the genre are likely to be entertained enough, but it's hard to say that Dogurai is a must for most players. There is something different and intriguing here in this first release from Hungry Bear Games, but it all ends too quickly. Even though the duration is a direct reference to the source material (platform classics from the 8-bit era), this shouldn't be a limitation - several NES games and the original Game Boy were gigantic and full of content. I look forward to seeing what the studio is planning for the future, the potential is there.

Re: Zero - Starting Life in Another World - The Prophecy of the Throne delivers exactly what can be expected from a visual novel with light elements of tactical and adventure games, and not the other way around. The visual novel also ends up limiting its audience by not explaining Re: Zero's events very well before the game's plot begins, and fails to hide certain events from the visual realm, but Re: zero fans will certainly appreciate this alternative view of the third arc of history, which is quite faithful to the tone and spirit of the original work.

Cris Tales impresses for a number of aspects, such as its amazing hand-drawn look, its colorful scenes rich in small details, its expressive characters and the ambition of its mechanics. Hoa comes and goes like a spring breeze: pleasant and comforting. But maybe you'll forget about the experience before long. If the meaning of life is the path rather than the final destination, perhaps there is a lesson here. However, as beautiful and uplifting as the journey is, in a video game, sometimes we need a little more. If you were attracted by the look of the title, it's worth giving it a try, but remember to enjoy the small moments and not expect too much at the end.

Revita is a competent title, with pleasant audiovisual qualities and a huge potential for fans of roguelikes and/or twin stick shooters. Unfortunately, small problems in several aspects end up hindering its ability to become a truly unmissable title among several indies with similar proposals. Players willing to accept the somewhat truncated pacing of the gameplay, as well as combat not as refined as it could be, will probably be able to have a lot of fun in this roguelike with a good premise and an accessible difficulty level.
