I've never been much of a fan of science fiction, let alone real-time strategy games, but 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim impresses in every possible and imaginable way. The complex plot, fragmented into 13 parts, is extremely competent, even if it can sometimes seem repetitive. The complex yet didactic combat, combined with the incredible audiovisual presentation and the excellent performance on Switch, makes this title from Vanillaware one of the best in the hybrid console library.

Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley is a beautiful game designed to convey an important message about friendship and, above all, environmental preservation and eco-sustainability. To achieve this, Raw Fury sought inspiration from the charismatic work of Tove Jansson, emulating all the charm and warmth of the Moomin series. Even with the occasional setbacks related to poor performance on the Switch, the adventure is enjoyable and accessible to all ages.

Distraint 2 is a simple and efficient adventure game with beautiful graphics and exquisite soundtrack. I venture to say that the title goes even further: it is a journey that teaches us about the importance of overcoming pain and looking for hope in the most difficult moments. Despite being a short title (approximately two hours), it is an observation on having faith, understanding our fears, insecurity and remorse, in addition to analyzing the role of greed and ambition in our life.

Overcoming obstacles to reach the truth is the main motto of Gnosia, which can be translated into the Latin expression “through the difficulties for the stars”. With quick matches that can be completed in 20 minutes or less, you can feel the tension of playing a multiplayer in single player mode. With a sci-fi ambience that abuses the theory of the multiverse, this indie is, above all, an intriguing continuous experience, sometimes a little repetitive, that promises to arrest the player from beginning to end. In addition to stimulating logical capacity, the title presents another point of view on parallel universes that can even put our own existence in check. Are loops a metaphor for life?

Corpse Party (2021) brings to the current generation the acclaimed horror game that is still a reference in the genre. Variable Barricade is a visual novel with a unique gameplay system, fragmenting its plot in a big board. Except for the common route, each route presents unique events, prioritizing Hibari's relationship with each of her suitors, where it proves that judging a book by the cover is a tremendous error. Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes manages to transport all the good points of Three Houses to the musou world, especially the setting. For those who appreciate a well-constructed story, even with occasional plot holes here and there, Persona 5 Royal is a great option in terms of dynamism and hours and hours of gameplay, with charismatic characters and a great soundtrack to pack the the shenanigans of the Phantom Thieves. Seeing a game run satisfactorily on Switch, at any time of day and without detracting from the action moments, is a huge triumph, especially when we're talking about one of the best JRPGs of all time.

Fire Emblem Engage is, without a doubt, the perfect entry for players who want to discover all the strategic potential that the franchise has to offer. The already established concepts of the series are even better with the exclusive systems of the 17th entry, making even veterans need to take a little time to study what the new mechanics add to the experience. It is true that, in terms of narrative and social interactions, Engage may fall short for some, even more so after the experience provided by Three Houses. In general, this new Fire Emblem manages to be an innovative game, but that does not give up its roots at any time.

With all the positive points of Var Commons intact, Norn9: Last Era is a package that's very rich in content, bringing explanations and perspectives that were not explored in the base game. Sea of Stars evokes nostalgia by bringing an adventure reminiscent of 20th century RPGs to modern consoles. With a meticulously crafted audiovisual package, charismatic characters and locations and lots of lore to be explored, its simplicity makes Zale and Valere's adventure a full plate for both veterans and newcomers to the genre. The Curse of Kudan may not be a long visual novel but it offers, during its approximate 10 hours of content, three different endings to the intriguing mystery that gave birth to the urban legend, also impacting its replay factor. Though the romance between the girls is the end result in the game, this element is a mere consequence of investigating the cases presented in the story. Though it has some small issues in the plot development, mainly in quite obvious choices during the deduction stages, this is an excellent visual novel for the Switch library, especially for the fans of girls love.
