Testament: The Order of High Human is definitely an ambitious game. However, being ambitious didn't serve it well – it's obvious that the scope of this game was beyond what a small studio like Fairyship Games was capable of, and the result is a mediocre action RPG that fails to impress.

7 / 10.0 - Stray Blade
Apr 21, 2023

While Stray Blade occasionally shows glimpses of the care and effort Point Blank obviously put into it, the end result winds up not too convincing, mostly due to a general lack of polish and balance.

If I had to define Crossfire: Legion in one word, I'd use "competent". If I could use more than one word, I'd say "competent, but overall lacking in personality." While it's not a bad game by any means, it also never really shines, it never surprises, and it doesn't leave a mark. It doesn't help that, despite a good variety of multiplayer game modes, the population has already dropped to a few dozen players. Still a decent choice if you're itching for more RTS gameplay, but don't expect to be blown away.

Atelier Sophie 2 follows in the same vein of its predecessors, refining the general formula while mantaining it pretty much intact. It's still a good comfort game, but it could use some work when it comes to combat and story.

Outriders Worldslayer follows in the same vein of Outriders, quite literally: one year later, both its strenghts (tight gameplay, loot management) and flaws (poor enemy variety, lackluster boss design, weak plot) have stayed exactly the same. Very likely you'll enjoy this expansion if you liked the base game, but if you didn't this won't make you change your mind.

While Lords of the Fallen has a good foundation, what is built upon it often leaves a sour taste, and not all of it can be boiled down to personal preference. Poor optimization, wonky hitboxes, poor enemy variety and a frustrating lock system are only some of the issues we encountered. This is the kind of game that could become great, but it needs patches and updates to get there.

7.5 / 10.0 - PAYDAY 3
Sep 23, 2023

In theory, Payday 3 offers an engaging gameplay loop, and trying to achieve a perfect Stealth heist is both challenging and fun to attempt. However, what Starbreeze's new game does well is mired down in poor gunplay, lackluster optimization, excessive grind and always online requirements.

7.5 / 10.0 - The Valiant
Oct 18, 2022

The Valiant is a decent enough game. It most likely won't amaze you, especially if you've played other small-scale RTS games before, but its campaign is the right amount . And if you've liked Dawn of War 2 in the past, you'll feel right at home.

7.5 / 10.0 - Moonscars
Oct 4, 2022

Moonscars is a souslike (although 'lite' would better describe it) with a very evocative visual style and well-written characters. The gameplay is also good, but it suffers from a certain lack of enemy variety and a poor balance of character options, especially egregious when it comes to special weapons. Still, it's not a bad game by any means, but the competition is fierce in the 2D metroidvania / soulslike genre and standing out is not an easy feat.

7.5 / 10.0 - Scathe
Aug 31, 2022

Scathe is definitely not flawless. The bosses aren't great, optimization could use some work, and the music, while good, lacks variety. But traversing the infernal labirint and slaughtering dozens of demons is good fun, the guns feel satysfying to use, and the game definitely knows how to keep you on your toes.

8 / 10.0 - Evil West
Nov 22, 2022

Evil West isn't a bad game, but it's certainly a disappointment. Jesse Rentier is a fun character to play, but unfortunately the encounter design doesn't always let his full capabilities shine, and the boss battles are downright awful. Still worth playing if you're looking for a decent singleplayer (or coop!) action with over-the-top characters, but perhaps wait for a sale.

The Great War: Western Front aims to be a faithful reconstruction of the many battles the France, Britain and Germany fought more than a hundred years ago, and of the context surrounding them. It definitely succeds at that, thanks to a very good soundtrack and to videos, posters and quotes from the period. Gameplay wise, however, the result is a game that is more catered towards a niche of players.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands introduces a new setting and some welcome new mechanics to the classic Borderlands formula, but overall the game feels like a step back from Borderlands 3 both in terms of size and gameplay, and the story feels like it's borrowing a bit too much from Assault on Dragon Keep. Andy Samberg is a delight, though.

7.8 / 10.0 - LONE RUIN
Jan 11, 2023

Lone Ruin is an action roguelike with an intense gameplay loop, the kind of game that you want to keep coming back to. A shame that, even for an indie game, it's not particularly rich content-wise.

7.8 / 10.0 - Martha is Dead
Feb 24, 2022

While a terrible murder is what sets the events of Martha is Dead in motion, the real focus of the game is Giulia's psyche and how it was affected by past and present thraumas. LKA's new adventure might not be suited for everyone due to the brutality of certain scenes, but it is certainly courageous and competent.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a valid cooperative shooter, one where you can just drop in and shoot stuff with glee, or put your coordination and teamplay to the test if you're looking for a challenge. There are friendly AIs, but they aren't great and solo play only works at the lower difficulties. Finally, while the game is competent and fun, it also shows its low budget.

Terminator: Dark Fate Defiance is overall a good modern-style RTS (so no resource gathering or base building) with a presentation that, considering budget restraints, can be very satisfying despite some drops in framerate. However, be warned that the campaign can be fairly frustrating even at medium difficulty.

Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is a good metroidvania, that fully shows the 10+ year experience Guilherme 'rdein' has developed in crafting this genre of games. However, while it doesn't have any flaws worthy of notice, it also lacks that "wow" factor. It's just a good, honest game, but that is already something to be proud of.

8 / 10.0 - Lunacid
Nov 7, 2023

Lunacid is certainly an intriguing action rpg with plenty of old-school charm, but audiences more used to modern games might find some of its quirks – and its balance that heavily favors magic builds – a bit annoying.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is a solid boomer shooter whose service honors the Emperor, and will certainly be very welcome by those who have been waiting for a 40k FPS since Fire Warrior. However, while it doesn't have any significant flaw it also never really excels.
