3 / 10.0 - Protocol
Apr 30, 2021

Protocol is an unfocused, directionless mess of a game that tries to give too much without grasping the basics. The gameplay is frustrating, the dialogue is terrible, and the number of technical problems renders it almost unbearable to play. There are a few positives here, but they are so few and far between that they don't even come close to being worth going through this experience. Stay away from Protocol, and you will indeed have a nice day.

3.5 / 10.0 - Sonic Superstars
Nov 14, 2023

Sonic Superstars is not a good experience, nor is it an experience that I can recommend in the slightest to any player, regardless of how much of a fan they are of this iconic mascot. The levels are so poorly designed that almost the entire experience becomes frustrating to the point of wanting to tear your hair out – especially the boss battles. Only the artistic direction and one idea or another prevent this game from being a complete failure, but they don't prevent it from being one of the worst games ever in the Sonic the Hedgehog series and one of the biggest disappointments of the year.

Naruto X Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections is a game with quality, but with very little ambition. It refines some of the gameplay that comes from several previous titles, further expands the range of playable characters, and offers an original Boruto story that is better than the most optimistic of expectations. But it disappoints tremendously with the lack of love and care it puts into its rather incomplete Naruto story mode, which is nothing more than a series of copies/pastes of past games. There is quality here, but it is a somewhat frustrating celebration of one of the best manga/animes of recent times. It could perfectly be the ultimate Ultimate Ninja Storm experience, but it's just another cobblestone – and one of those poorly placed ones that causes the most distracted to trip over it.

The Teal Mask is not an indispensable addition to Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, it is a DLC that ends up being practically more of the same. If, like me, you loved the unprecedented freedom and interactivity with Pokémon in their habitats in the base game, then you'll find more of that pleasure in Kitikami. If, on the other hand, the technical, graphical and performance problems that plague the entire ninth generation frustrate you and disturb your fun, perhaps this is not such an appealing return. How recommendable this expansion is depends on whether you hate to love or love to hate the entire ninth generation of Pokémon.

6 / 10.0 - EA Sports FC 24
Oct 5, 2023

Not going to lie to you: EA Sports FC 24 has been somewhat disappointing so far. The changes aren't that big compared to last year, but there are modes that work worse, new features that irritate more than they entertain, years-old errors that still haven't been resolved and a new ugly and confusing user interface. Not everything is bad, since, if we discount the foul system, the gameplay continues to be fun and the best on the market. So, if EA Sports simulators have captivated you before, this one will too. If not, or if they are tired of the formula, then they will probably do as I did and not wait for the final whistle to leave the stadium.

6 / 10.0 - Eternal Hope
Jul 8, 2022

Eternal Hope is a game with many qualities, but whose flaws leave it far short of its inspirations. While the narrative is very engaging and the visual direction is vibrant, the mechanical simplicity doesn't translate into completely satisfying gameplay due to notable problems and very unchallenging puzzles. It's a title that will give fans of platform and puzzle games a few moments of pleasure, but whose inspirations from the highly acclaimed Limbo leave us with the feeling of enormous unrealized potential.

It is impossible not to classify this offer as disappointing. There is merit in the work of making these classics more visually appealing and mechanically more modern, but the flaws are too many and incomprehensible. The three games are technically extremely defective, with huge crashes and numerous bugs plaguing the overall experience. Still, playing Vice City and San Andreas remains incredibly fun and enjoyable. So there is value here, but these games deserved much more love and affection from everyone involved.

F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch is a generally interesting and appealing metroidvania, but with too many problems and frustrating design options. This title features varied gameplay and high-quality platforming sequences, but the inconsistent and frustrating combat detracts too much from the enjoyment of the experience. The obvious lack of refinement results in immense wasted potential, making this title recommendable only to the most avid fans of the genre.

6.5 / 10.0 - Kao the Kangaroo
Jun 8, 2022

Kao the Kangaroo is a surprisingly successful game, and a quality reboot for a series that, so far, has had little impact. The platforming sections are always fun, and the search for collectibles can keep you entertained for hours. It's just not a recommendable experience for any fan of 3D platform games for having an uninspired combat system and an almost inexcusable amount of bugs and problems. With a little more love and affection, this could very well be the rebirth from the ashes of this mascot, whose next entry we will look forward to with anticipation and interest.

6.5 / 10.0 - Nexomon
Oct 9, 2021

Nexomon presents itself as an interesting alternative to the Pokémon series, although clearly of inferior quality. The monster capture and battle mechanics will be familiar and almost as fun as the most popular games, with this title featuring some refreshing ideas and a very captivating narrative. The lack of polish in various aspects of the experience clearly impacts in the final overall experience. Still, if it's a Pokémon clone you're looking for, there are very few offers as solid as this one.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: The Indigo Disk is the best Pokémon game expansion to date. The story is good, the characters' narrative arcs are excellent, the battles are (finally) challenging, and the Pokémon we (re)encounter are exciting. Just like the base game, it owes one decision or another and numerous (and serious) technical problems its status as a mandatory and timeless experience. But if you are fans of Pokémon, and have already proven that you can enjoy the joy of this generation, despite everything that is irritating and frustrating here, then it is worth taking this ultimate dive into the world of Paldea.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl do the bare minimum to justify their current release. No doubt they add some new features and quality of life elements missing from the originals, but some of these are poorly implemented and many of the problems in the base games remain untouched. Without a doubt it's a good game and another good adventure in this ever fascinating universe, but we expected more from the remake of one of the most popular generations of Pokémon.

Whether you’re a fan of the classics or new player, and whether you love strategy game or you’re total newbies, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a quality pack. Deep and accessible in equal measures, the gameplay expertly balances simplicity and challenge, making it so that players with all sorts of tastes can get many, many hours of fun from these remakes’ campaigns. There are quite a few frustrating aspects and levels that have us raising eyebrows, but that doesn’t stop this from being a quality title that will please any Nintendo fan.

Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical is a triumphant ode to an unique and difficult idea. The story is very good, the quantity, variety of choices and consequences is truly impressive, and the work put in here to make everything make logical and narrative sense is sublime. The songs are divine, the performances of all the actors are perfect, without exception, and it just doesn't have a permanent place on Olympus due to several technical problems that prove that the game was created by mortals. Still, and because it always left us with music in our hearts, it is a work quite worthy of entering the Pantheon.

Layers of Fear is an enticing package for any horror game fan. With several very interesting narratives about the disturbing and neurotic aspects of different artists' lives, visual and sound directions so well achieved, there are not many games that manage to instil a sense of tension as well as this remake. It's just a shame some aspects of the gameplay continue to leave something to be desired. But don't be fooled: Layers of Fear is one of the best horror series on the market.

8 / 10.0 - FIFA 23
Oct 13, 2022

FIFA 23 is one of those entries in this series that, in fact, improves several aspects and meets some criticisms or requests from fans. The career mode is more customizable than ever and introduces some important additions, and the expansion of women's football modes is a great step forward for the game. What's more, the fact that we now have a really fun set-piece system and that the new animations make every game moment more realistic and exciting, deserve all the praise. I just can't say that this title enters the top of the best simulators for the insistence of errors and unresolved problems, and for the fact that its most popular mode continues to be incredibly unbalanced and uncontrolled. But if you are fans of the king's sport, you have one of the most solid offerings of recent years here, which is presented as a great goal at the end of the curtain.

Klonoa: Phantasy Reverie Series is a beautifully accomplished remaster of two long-forgotten classics. With dozens of fun levels, memorable bosses and lively characters, this is an experience that any platforming fan will get hours of fun from – as long as they don't expect the compelling gameplay to be accompanied by good stories. Whether they're newcomers or long-time fans, this Klonoa return is a dream come true, and we hope this reborn mascot has more to give in the future.

8 / 10.0 - Card Shark
Jun 23, 2022

Card Shark is a game like no other, brilliantly blending compelling narrative and gameplay based on captivating, fun-to-learn minigames and small puzzles. It is also a title that is always a pleasure to behold and listen to, although it is regrettable to be so plagued by technical problems and bugs that disrupt the experience. If these problems were not so pressing, we could be facing a game that is highly recommendable to almost everyone, but it is still a title with many tricks up its sleeve that will please many players.

8 / 10.0 - Ghostwire: Tokyo
Apr 14, 2022

Ghostwire: Tokyo is a good send-off to PlayStation from Bethesda. Whether we're fighting demons or exploring this impeccable recreation of the city of Tokyo, this is a fun-filled experience. Too bad the same can't be said about the narrative, which presents itself without any structure and poorly managed, which notably tarnishes the overall experience. Still, it's a recommendable worthy adventure and a nice farewell for the publisher now owned by the Japanese giant's rivals.

8 / 10.0 - CARRION
Nov 27, 2021

By turning the roles of heroes and villains upside down, Carrion delivers a unique and fun experience. Literally incarnating a monster and causing chaos and destruction is cathartic, and adding a surprisingly appealing narrative to it all makes for a pretty complete experience. It falls a little short in one aspect or another, namely when it comes to incentives and rewards for the careful exploration of the world, but Carrion never ceases to be an extremely recommendable game.
