9.4 / 10.0 - Dead Space (Remake)
Feb 4, 2023

Dead Space is how a remake is supposed to be. The game is full of big and small improvements that make the experience even more intense, but also even better than the original and that with graphics and sound that are completely current-gen is. When you play the game, it really feels like the Dead Space of before, but as soon as you hold both versions next to each other you only notice well how big the differences actually are. That's exactly what a Really good remake features: the preservation of good elements and improvements that don't stand out.

Many would consider remaking a classic like Resident Evil 4 impossible. However Capcom has taken up the gauntlet and managed to make the classic even better. With an expanded storyline, better movement options and fighting skills, as well as many big and small quality of life improvements, this remake is better in almost every way, except for the graphics, which could have done with a bit more polish

9.3 / 10.0 - Final Fantasy XVI
Jun 21, 2023

Final Fantasy XVI is a complete package with a refreshingly mature storyline, full of surprises that keeps raising the stakes. The switch to real-time fights is daring step, but works most of the time, as long as the graphical effects don't blur what's going on. The game can be greatily adapted to facilitate those that mostly play for the story, but also those that are looking for a real challenge. The most epic fights, those between the Eikons, are visually impressive, but a bit too hands-off.

This remaster might feel a bit superfluous as the original PS4 version was already great. However, the added features including the commentary, deleted scenes and the new roguelike game mode are welcome additions. For new players, this remastered version is definitely the right choice. For owners of the PS4 version, the extras and extra graphical fidelity might be enough to entice the relatively small upgrade fee.

9.1 / 10.0 - Scarlet Nexus
Jun 23, 2021

Scarlet Nexus turned out to be a lovely combination of quick gameplay and an intriguing story of betrayal, conflict on a large scale full of plot twists and surprises. The interactions between the team members contribute to both story and diverse gameplay. The side-missions however don't add anything and could've been removed completely.

‎Not that the races and activities served in the café are boring, but at some point you just want to race those hyper-luxury cars. Those who can bite through this will be presented with a beautiful racer with a huge amount of content in available cars, tracks and locations that are a pleasure to drive.‎

The rats are coming, again! Requiem is bigger, bolder and more beautiful than it's predecessor. The story is both huge and intimate, which is an accomplishment in its own. Requiem builds on what Innocence set out to do, and does everything better.

8.5 / 10.0 - Wasteland 3
Oct 17, 2020

Wasteland 3 is an excellent RPG by keeping the spirit of the original, while also borrowing from Xcom. While the load times get in the way sometimes, there is no denying that you need to play this game if you love a great story with an edge.

8.5 / 10.0 - Tales of Arise
Sep 8, 2021

Tales of Arise delivers a fresh start with new heroes and a world that feels all too familiar. The story of an oppressed people living in a land divided into five parts, that need to be liberated isn't quite original, but Arise does offer a streamlined experience that can be highly tailored. Those that want to, can delve into the lore, while others can happily skip that entirely. The same applies to combat, which can be tailored to the player's desire, from (semi)automatic to manual and challenging.

8.5 / 10.0 - Tell Me Why
Aug 28, 2020

This first episode of the new Dontnod trilogy story is a bit of a slow starter but sets a beautiful scene of little-town Alaska where twins Tyler and Alyson grew up. The game brings everything we expect from a Dontnod game: exploration, tough decisions, and puzzles combined with the supernatural and more than one complex and difficult relationship.

While Ni No Kuni II is already three years old, this Switch still feels new and refreshing. This is partly due to the timeless, cheerful story and the colourful drawing style. The port to the Switch can safely be called successful, with short loading times and excellent performance. The game itself is unabatedly charming and offers varied gameplay and including all the included DLC a nice total package that you can lose many hours in. Ni No Kuni II hasn't lost any of its charm and is now nice and easy to play. Recommended!

8.5 / 10.0 - Persona 5 Royal
Mar 31, 2020

For newcomers, Persona 5 Royal is the most complete, most polished game. If you have a strict budget, then the consideration is whether the additional cost of this Royal edition is really worth it. That's really only the case if you expect to invest more than 100 hours in this game. Then, of course, the additional cost is also immediately relative.‎

8.5 / 10.0 - Riders Republic

8.5 / 10.0 - Moss: Book II
Mar 4, 2023

Moss Book2 is longer, more versatile and graphically better than it's predecessor. Quill (and companions) are adorable as ever, but the even bigger stakes and more interesting puzzles make this follow-up even more interesting. The release together with PS VR2 is welcome and makes this one of the better starter-games of the launch line-up.

8.5 / 10.0 - Dead Island 2
Apr 18, 2023

When a game is delayed for a long time, it usually doesn't bode well. But Dambuster Studios has delivered a strong zombie-slayer in Dead Island 2, with a lot of content, loads of weapons and anatomically correct zombies. It does have some technical issues, but that doesn't stand in the way of fun.

8.5 / 10.0 - Desperados III
Jun 12, 2020

Desperados 3 brings a compelling Wild West story telling the origins of John Cooper and his gang. Each mission is brimming with life and atmosphere and offers a real challenge. With up to six characters, each with their own abilities, there are many different styles of play possible. The game is certainly challenging, but offers a lot of replayability and value for money.

The games are diverse and the package offers both well-known games and surprises. The design and accessibility are fine as well. With this package it is no longer necessary to drag the whole game box with you on Holiday. Instead, bring your Switch.

8.5 / 10.0 - Synapse
Jul 16, 2023

Synapse is the new standard for VR FPS. thanks to teh clever use of force feedback and eye tracking, you feel like you're inside the action. The combination of eye tracking and telekinesis is simply delightful and this is the closest we've felt to being a true force wielder. the clever use of your offhand for navigation, telekinesis and climbing/hiding is brilliant and works like a charm. If we have to complain a bit, we would love some more variety to the weapons used.

8.5 / 10.0 - Baldur's Gate 3
Oct 2, 2023

Baldur's Gate 3 is an impressive feat, making a DnD game accessible to the masses, while keeping the core, mechanics and variety of the rulebook intact. The freedom of choice is enormous, as are the consequences. The translation to consoles isn't entirely perfect and some minor grievances and bugs have transitioned or are even introduced, but all in all, this is the best Dungeons & Dragons game in existence.

With a welcome new location, two beloved heroes and a tight storyline that combines main and sidequests like never before, Infinite Wealth might be less crazy than before, but much more compelling and coherent. The combat has been upped with jobs and bonds. As a downside, the added resort island management feels like a mis-fire, but is fortunately mostly optional.
