Final Fantasy 7 Remake might be an early contender for Game of the Year 2020 thanks to a wonderful retelling of an iconic game. While it's only the first part in a larger story, there is no denying that the reworked combat system, deep RPG mechanics and iconic characters feel right at home in 2020. The graphics and mucis themselves are art and with new elements in the story there is plenty of love to go around even when your not going after Shinra.

It Takes Two is an amazing game that keeps players on their toes with its impeccable pacing in both story and gameplay. This 3D platformer mixes genres every step of the way in a magical ride through different locals. God of War is even better than it was in 2018 thanks to the power of the PC. With an uncapped framerate, native 4K and Ultra-Wide Screen support the game looks amazing and plays even better. If you're new to the series, this is the place to start.

Despite a few technical hiccups, Guardians of the Galaxy is one of 2021's best games thanks to a fantastic story with amazing gameplay to boot. These Guardians really stand out from the movies even though they might similar. In many ways, Eidos has created Uncharted in space but with deeply satisfying combat mechanics that keep you entertained throughout.

Demon's Souls is an amazing game to show off that the PS5 is a graphical powerhouse. The mechanics from the original are intact, just like the grim and mysterious atmosphere. This might be the best launch game on the PlayStation 5.

Spider-Man Miles Morales improves on the original in many ways thanks to the new hardware, amazing story, and characters. Being a bit shorter actually improves the pace, while the music gives Miles' adventure a unique style and personality.

TT Games has outdone itself by reinventing the LEGO formula to create the most complete Star Wars game in history. The mechanics have been reworked to suit both young and old players, while keeping that great LEGO humor throughout. As Ben Kenobi would say: "This is the Star Wars game people are looking for!"

With Pokemon Shield Game Freak has delivered one of their best games in years thanks to a fantastic addition with the Wild Area. Everyone can find something they will enjoy even though the National Dex isn't here and the online infrastructure isn't great. The music, new designs and animation alone give you enough reason to play on the first mainline entries to ever grace the TV.

9 / 10.0 - Unravel Two
Jun 27, 2018

Unravel 2 is amazing thanks to clever puzzles and fantastic coop. It's beautiful and has some great gameplay, but playing alone lessens the experience. The music is the unsung hero, because it's majestic throughout the entire playthrough.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sports an excellent return for Cal Kestis and his adventures to escape the grasp of the Empire. Thanks to a ton of new additions in both gameplay and customization, you've never felt closer to being a Jedi than in this game even though the performance could've been better.

While it's a shame the game is just a port of the Switch version from last year, there is no denying this is one of the best JRPG's in recent memory. The game is excellent in almost every way. If you can't get the Switch version, this is the way to go.

8.8 / 10.0 - Astro's Playroom
Nov 6, 2020

Although Astro's Playroom does feature a few gimmicks it's undeniable that this game is an amazing showcase for the PS5's DualSense. All while being a great 3D-platformer Astro's Playroom shows not only a love for PlayStation's history and shines brightest when utilizing the fantastic haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 is a love letter to the original games thanks to the easy to pick-up, hard to master gameplay. With a great deal of customization to boot and multiple multiplayer options, there is a ton of time to be spent here for a great price. Graphics could've been better at times, but that almost doesn't even matter because you'll be way more focused on the phenomenal soundtrack.

8.8 / 10.0 - Battlefield V
Nov 20, 2018

With a new mode and a new mechanic Battlefield V goes back to World War II. It looks better than ever in the diverse maps, but it's a shame the modes in multiplayer feel kind of similar. The War Stories are excellent though, just as the focus on squads.
