3.5 / 5.0 - Mortal Kombat 11

The ever-flowing nature of time meant we'd eventually return to an Armageddon level event.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory may not be a true sequel to the 2016 original, but it's a better version of a familiar experience.

3.5 / 5.0 - Agents of Mayhem
Aug 15, 2017

We're living in a post-Saints Row world where Volition wants to bring players something new, but familiar to the table, and for the most part, Agents of Mayhem fills that void. It retains Saints Row's sense of humor and mayhem all while adding in team-oriented gameplay. It's the agents and their individual stories that steal the show thanks to snappy writing, bizarre scenarios, and perfect comedic timing. The story itself is a highlight thanks to the insane villains, although it takes a few chapters before things pick up. It's disappointing that the remaining activities are so repetitive and lack the imagination of what Volition is known for, and with a myriad of technical issues, it feels like Agents of Mayhem was shoved out the door earlier than it should have. Still, despite a few hiccups, there are still hours of fun to be had with Agents of Mayhem. It may not be the best open-world game out there, but like its predecessors, it stands out in a sea of AAA titles that take themselves far too seriously.

3.5 / 5.0 - Destiny 2

Destiny 2 feels more of an expansion than it does a sequel.

While the world is vast, it feels barren with an uneven difficulty. Digimon World: Next Order is a fantastic RPG for those who like to get down into the nitty-gritty of different stats and how they can affect your Digimon. For everyone else, it might have one too many frustrations.

In the end, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is a solid remaster that enhances the original game with beautiful new visuals and a little bit of extra multiplayer content, but Raven Software may have stuck to the original a little too much. A few tweaks would have gone a long way to fixing some balancing issues, but for those looking for a blast from the past, this works just fine

Establishing a solid foundation for which to build a successful franchise on, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth does for Digimon what Pokémon Red/Blue did for Pokémon. It isn't perfect; its story and script could use some fine-tuning, and the world needs to be more interesting, but overall, this is a solid first step.

3.5 / 5.0 - LEGO Dimensions
Oct 3, 2015

LEGO Dimensions feels like it wants to be the ultimate LEGO game, but never quite gets there. The mashing of different universes comes together quite beautifully in the humorous story.

3.5 / 5.0 - LEGO The Hobbit
Apr 13, 2014

LEGO The Hobbit is a fun little game that serves its purpose well.  It's a good game for kids to play and fans of Peter Jackson's film trilogy will get a kick out of it.  It would have been nice if Traveller's Tales strived to innovate its LEGO formula and included content from The Hobbit: There and Back Again.  It's a fun game, yes, but never escapes the shadow of better LEGO games.

3.5 / 5.0 - LittleBigPlanet 3
Nov 20, 2014

LittleBigPlanet 3 is an endearing and charming game that will work its way into your heart thanks to its presentation and new characters. The end-game possibilities are endless thanks to the co-op, level creator and millions of community driven stages imported from past titles, but it's held back due to Sumo Digital's unwillingness to fully flesh out their ideas.

4 / 5.0 - Helldivers II
Feb 19, 2024

Launching a live service game in today’s environment is a risky proposition. Not only are the market leaders incredibly entrenched, but launching a brand new one without a satisfying gameplay loop, content variety and character could doom a game right out of the gate. Helldivers II bucks the trends with highly satisfying gameplay, a good variety of planets to explore and objectives to complete, unique hooks and hilarious improvised moments. Gunplay is punchy, smart and requires some thought to be effective, though it can also just be chaotic fun. Unique hooks like the Galactic War where you’re just another cog in the war effort rather than the “Chosen One” adds more stakes to every match. It’s also fun to hop into a match with friends and unleash all forms of chaos. It’s not perfect with Helldivers II unable to escape every Live Service pitfall. Progression feels unnecessarily padded with multiple currencies to juggle, the fun factor doesn’t extend to playing solo and technical issues plague the post-launch week. Still, Helldivers II delivers where it matters and leaves us excited to see what Arrowhead can bring to the game next rather than leaving us pondering if the game can be saved. Helldivers II is one galactic conflict players can happily dive into.

The Last of Us Part I’s real problem is that The Last of Us Remastered exists and doesn’t provide a substantial reason to choose it over Remastered given its pricing and missing content. The Last of Us remains a timeless classic, but The Last of Us Part I isn’t quite the must-have definitive version of the title.
