Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion is a masterful remaster of a little more than adequate game. Not a bad game, in fact it is still a decent action RPG that will keep you entertained for about 20-30 hours of play. However, in terms of substance and narrative responsibility it leaves much to be desired.

7.3 / 10.0 - Monark
Feb 17, 2022

In our intent to devote the right attention even to the less noble projects, we would have really liked to give Monark a higher grade, especially to reward the ideas and efforts of a certainly talented team that is looking for its space in the market. However, there are still limits to overcome for a real leap in quality, and we are not just talking about budget.

7.5 / 10.0 - Persona 5 Tactica
Nov 14, 2023

Persona 5 Tactica is a good spin-off that from a formal point of view effectively traces the mood of Persona 5, with its typically Japanese lighthearted style, a story focused on self-determination, as well as an excellent soundtrack full of engaging songs enhanced by Lyn Inaizumi's voice.

7.5 / 10.0 - Forspoken
Jan 23, 2023

Square Enix and Luminous Production's attempt to create a new IP by combining various unusual elements and different cultural approaches is certainly appreciable, but there are several slightings that make Forspoken only half a successful title.

Square Enix and Team Ninja's latest experiment is a diamond in the rough that you have to sort through depending on which aspects you consider most important in a video game. The anachronistic technical aspect, the confusing visual style, and above all the terrible level of writing will risk alienating players looking for a "classic" Final Fantasy. If you can disengage from expectations and not place too much importance on the story, you might even find its overt tamarazzine hilarious. Within these rough edges, however, pulses a solid action RPG with a technical and layered battle system that, despite its flaws, pleasantly dragged us through hours of challenging and damn fun combat, especially against bosses. If you've never played a soulslike before, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin might be the best way to take your first step into a genre of games with a higher than average level of challenge, but even if you've grown up on bread and Estus you'd do well not to take it lightly. More than ever, we recommend trying out the online demo before deciding whether or not to buy it.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is a chance to rediscover, or play for the umpteenth time, one of the best JRPGs from the golden age of PlayStation. Majestic in its art direction and music, and with one of the most elaborate and intriguing stories ever seen, there are very few criticisms that can be made of the original game, and in general the biggest "flaw" that can be attributed to it is that it wasn't the disruptive masterpiece that its predecessor was. In fact, the inclusion of Chrono Trigger (even at a higher price) would have made the compilation a must-have, too bad. The refinements that Square Enix has made for this remaster may not be optimal for an ideal visual performance, but they are accompanied by a series of substantial additions that, against a budget price of € 19.99, make the package definitely worth buying and recommended for any lover of the genre.

Live A Live for Nintendo Switch is a structurally faithful and visually satisfying remake of one of the rarest gems of the 16-bit era JRPG landscape.

8.5 / 10.0 - Persona 3 Reload
Jan 30, 2024

Persona 3 Reload is a good remake of one of the most popular chapters in the series, which has been on the back burner for too long. Beneath the life sim's blanket of repetitive daily activities, bantering with companions and chatting with NPCs, only seemingly frivolous, lies a story with deep themes that will leave you with something to ponder as you watch the credits.

With 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim developers Vanillaware have achieved their most ambitious work yet. A combination of different genres that surprisingly manages to walk hand in hand, supporting a great narrative experience that should be enjoyed by any fan of time-travelling stories, paranormal elements and introspective dramas with a typically Japanese style. The portability on Nintendo Switch is also a perfect match for the pace of the game's missions and single narrative sessions. If you've already enjoyed it on PS4, this version offers nothing new. If not, this is the perfect opportunity to pick up this precious gem.
