8.5 / 10.0 - Ghost Song
Oct 31, 2022

My personal experience with Ghost Song was something greater than the sum of the parts and the numerical balance. It's a great metroidvania in the exploration, in the atmosphere and in the surprise of the human warmth behind each encounter, making it a poetic and memorable title within one of my favorite genres. I will certainly play it again in the future.

7 / 10.0 - Astronite
Nov 30, 2022

Astronite has several small flaws that don't spoil it, but rather detract from the experience of what the game could offer. It's not a good gateway to the genre, but it might please enough for those who are already used to it and want one more retro adventure to explore in a weekend. In the end, this is the kind of game with some good hits and tolerable flaws, showing potential for improvement in a future sequel or new title from the developer.

9.5 / 10.0 - Togges
Dec 6, 2022

Togges surprised me by bringing a whole new way of approaching an old genre, without sticking to nostalgia emulation. The novelty is allied to the wide design of levels, the exploration full of secrets to discover and the charisma of the package as a whole. I still intend to complete this inventive and fun 3D “stackformer” that has become one of my favorites.

Kukoos: Lost Pets is a mixed experience. It's a pleasant, fun and dynamic game when its imprecise movement and bugs aren't annoying [the players]. Nothing makes it unplayable but the occurrences hinder the enjoyment of what the game has to offer and may demand patience. It's a shame because Petit Fabrik's title is a well-made game that doesn't reinvent the formula but justifies its existence as a 3D platformer that can be enjoyed alone or with others, especially children.

7.5 / 10.0 - Wavetale
Dec 13, 2022

Wavetale has the adequate duration for what it is: a fluid and agile adventure with an involved story and unexpectedly elaborate for the time it has. The combat fulfills a purely marginal purpose and the technical limitations do not follow the fluidity pattern, but are harmless enough to be highlighted in the context of a game of outstanding humanity and beauty.

9 / 10.0 - GRIME
Dec 17, 2022

Grime: Colors of Rot is a great game and ranks above average for metroidvanias in combat and world richness. Even so, it should be noted that the high difficulty may not please everyone. The atmosphere, morbid and without great excesses, sets the mythological tone of accompanying a force that moves through a strange world to fulfill its existence. Only its curiosity is as great as its sense of destruction and both will be satiated by exploring and absorbing everything the title has to offer.

70 / 100 - OmegaBot
Jan 18, 2023

OmegaBot has no big problems and no big highlights. A few more features would be welcome. However, with a good pace and challenging bosses, it fulfills its purpose of being a simple and pleasant adventure for those who like 2D platformers.

Yuppie Psycho is an excellent work that does a great job as a survival horror that manages in one fell swoop to be a terrifying and amusing fable of the neuroses of the corporate world. There are many mysteries to seek and secrets to reveal both in the microcosm of the Sintracorp building and in the plot woven with abuse, blood, friendship and absurd humor.

Enjoyable, undemanding gameplay combines with absurdly humorous storytelling and excellent voice acting to make SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake a fun and charismatic campaign that will be enjoyed by kids, fans of the characters, and anyone who enjoys straightfoward 3D platformers. It can also be a great way to share the experience with the little ones, whether it's passing the controller to them or just having the kids watch you play.

Contemplative and profound, SEASON: A letter to the future is a work of art that invites you to discover and record an era that will soon vanish in transition to an unknown world. Traversing the open world with your camera and notebook should appeal to those who want a beautiful, immersive experience of aesthetic creation and philosophical storytelling.

Although it slips on some technical issues and the repetition makes it seem longer than necessary, the balance of Dead Space is quite attractive: immersive atmosphere, sinister story, detailed graphics, intense action and many scares raise the quality of the experience for anyone who wants to revisit the game or experience it for the first time.

7 / 10.0 - Clive 'N' Wrench
Feb 27, 2023

The duo's adventure in Clive 'N' Wrench should please both the generation that loved the golden age of 3D platform games and their children who enjoy a good mascot game.

8.5 / 10.0 - Planet Cube: Edge
Mar 7, 2023

Planet Edge: Cube is precise and inventive, a masterclass in level design done right in 2D platform. It's also challenging, perhaps too much for an audience that isn't interested in the satisfaction of overcoming obstacles after a successive kill count. The retro pixel art look with minimalist colors is very charming, has good animations and avoids distractions during the action. My hands hurt during the most demanding stretches and I found several bugs, all of them subject to correction, but none of that prevented me from finishing the journey with great pleasure.

9 / 10.0 - Papetura
Mar 16, 2023

Papetura is one of the most beautiful video games I've ever had the privilege of seeing. It's unique and passionate, but it's somewhat melancholic when I think of it as a reminder of something that was good while it lasted, which wasn't much. Made for one-shot play, the point-and-click gameplay isn't meant to be challenging, though it still does require a little thought at each step, enough to feel like you're achieving a goal. Enter this world knowing two things: it is endlessly fascinating and purposely brief.

9 / 10.0 - Tchia
Mar 20, 2023

Tchia is a full-fledged game that achieves (almost) all of its objectives with flying colors. In the archipelago, there is a lot to do and find, but it is also a place to just enjoy, walk around and explore. And what a stunning place! Make sure you immerse yourself in the world and in the shoes of the many animals you can incorporate, then rest up playing the ukulele and observe the details of cultures that seem far from ours, but that can still reach the world.

8 / 10.0 - Vernal Edge
Mar 25, 2023

Vernal Edge delivers polished boss battles but ends up lacking in enemy variety. It's enhanced by offering a semi-open world unlike the usual metroidvanias but should have smaller areas and a better map system. Weighing the pros and cons of the game, I conclude there are more good things than bad, enough to recommend it to any fan of the genre who has the patience to brave a world with no directions.

85 / 100 - Citizen Sleeper
Mar 30, 2023

Half literature, half RPG, Citizen Sleeper successfully unites its many facets to create inventive and thoughtful science fiction. Deep human issues are addressed in several sweet and melancholy subplots that weave together to form a life that is up to you to manage however you can. The paths do not lead to opposite roads, but it is up to whoever holds the controller to decide which trails to follow and which stories will have their attention and their dice rolls to build their uncertain daily life. Keep in mind that reading English well is essential for everything Citizen Sleeper has to offer.

Apr 3, 2023

Curse of the Sea Rats is never actually bad. Even with the lack of graphic and mechanical refinement, we can still find fun and adventure in its shores. There are a few interesting things in how it creates a diversified world but nothing impressive and the exploration isn't always rewarding.

Forgotten at the bottom of the chest, Cannon Dancer Osman is a historical piece rescued for new platforms for the first time. The visuals will please pixel art connoisseurs and the intense gameplay is as simple and fun as an arcade title should be. The many quality-of-life improvement options are welcome and even allow you to set up slightly different ways of playing, but this help can end up making enjoyment even shorter than it actually is. In the end, it is a game suitable for the nostalgic, the curious and those who propose to play repeatedly a very brief campaign, improving their technique with each quick attempt to reach the end.

8 / 10.0 - Nuclear Blaze
Apr 26, 2023

Short but well-paced, Nuclear Blaze focuses on the urgency of the fire to create an intense experience. The game benefits from the great use of effects to enrich the simple pixel art and add to an atmosphere of mystery that, even if it's not deep or surprising, gives fuel to keep the flame burning bright for as long as it lasts. The heat gets intense in Hold My Glass mode and it can be frustrating, but the difficulty adjustments make the game accessible to any audience, even very young children, who can also enjoy the Kids Mode, designed especially for them.
