Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Definitive Edition Reviews
Pathfinder: Kingmaker is a phenomenal game with hundreds of hours of deep CRPG and kingdom management gameplay, but at the time of review it's hampered by bugs that impact how you can enjoy the game, and with reports of progression halting issues and save file corruption. Our advice would be to wait for the bugs to be patched, but ready yourself for a serious commitment to this vast CRPG.
The PC version, ironically, remains the true definitive edition, but console owners hankering after a new RPG to lose a few hundred hours in could do worse than Pathfinder: Kingmaker.
The controls are smoother on the PC, but the new version offers everything you could want from a Pathfinder video game.
Satisfying and frustrating at the same time, Pathfinder Kingmaker does everything right when it comes to its character creator, story, and combat. However, it falters in its Kingdom management and the constant game crashes that start to feel more like a gameplay feature than an actual issue.
Pathfinder Kingmaker is an incredible game full of content, capable of entertaining for a countless number of hours, especially considering the Definitive Edition includes all expansions. The porting, unfortunately, suffers from very poor optimization, and managing combat on a pad might prove a bit of a hurdle.

Controls and obnoxious voice acting aside, Pathfinder delivers exactly what it promises and does so very well.
If you were looking forward to dive deep into Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Definitive Edition on consoles, you probably should change your plans. At least for the time being, while the devs are trying to fix their game. Meanwhile, if you still crave that classic role-playing experience, just get yourself Pillars of Eternity or Divinity: Original Sin.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker Definitive Edition, as a console port, works impressively well. Despite some cumbersome menus, it makes the transition from mouse and keyboard to controller without losing its complexity. Combined with the substantial amount of added content, Pathfinder: Kingmaker Definitive Edition is quite an easy recommend for any fan of Baldur’s Gate, Pillars of Eternity or similar RPGs. It won’t hold your hand, even on Easy, but if you’re looking for an adventure to become immersed in, Pathfinder: Kingmaker Definitive Edition could be the game you’ve been looking for.
If you're looking for an engaging tabletop RPG experience on the PlayStation 4, then Pathfinder: Kingmaker Definitive Edition is indeed that game with intuitive turn-based mechanics in a classic archetype setting. Definitely great value for money
Thanks to the new turn based combat and the added DLCs, the console version of Pathfinder Kingmaker is on par with the PC one, and comes recommended for all RPG fans.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker – Definitive Edition is a deep isometric CRPG that any D&D fan will most likely enjoy.
Pathfinder: Kingmaker Definitive Edition is a good game marred by technical problems on the PlayStation 4. As it stands, it is difficult to recommend to anyone in its current state.
When it's all boiled down, Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Definitive Edition is a text-heavy, buggy experience on the PlayStation 4. While the level of depth into the original tabletop game is laudable, it ultimately makes for a less game-y experience, opting for faithfulness to the original material rather than focusing on the experience for the console player. Even when factoring in the art, music, and somewhat streamlined gameplay choices, Kingmaker isn't able to break away from its tabletop roots. Instead of scaling up or down based on a player's ability, the game acting as a GM thrusts the onus of knowledge of the game and its rules on the oft-unknowing player from the get-go, alienating many in the process. While the title strips down its core concepts for the video game realm, it simply isn't enough. Seasoned tabletop players and those who are willing to invest the time and effort into learning the systems could sink their teeth into this one if they're willing to look past its buggy warts, but Kingmaker doesn't offer enough different or intriguing content to win over someone who isn't already invested in this system and world.
Pathfinder: Kingmaker will challenge players, whether adventurers or rulers, to reclaim the explored lands and establish their own kingdom in the wilderness. Enjoy a classic RPG experience inspired by games like Baldur's Gate, Fallout 1 and 2, and Arcanum.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker Definitive Edition is a superior version of an already stellar game.
Pathfinder: Kingmaker are a raw role experience for players who expect a more direct approach to the classic epic fantasy. The combat system can be so frustrating and boring that ruin the entire gameplay. In other hand, the world and the history are interesting and magical, even when the poor FPS and the bugs of the game continuously pops in front of our eyes. Pathfinder: Kingmaker give us a glimpse of something that can be great, but that it isn’t just right now.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker – Definitive Edition is a classic fantasy RPG of truly epic scope hobbled only by niggling technical issues on this console release. As much fun as I was having romping across the land slaying monsters, righting wrongs, and making pleasant conversation with the well-written characters, I couldn’t help but feel I wasn’t enjoying the experience on the ideal platform or on a stable build. Still, if you’re a stalwart devotee of swords and sorcery, and these trying times have left you without access to a decent gaming PC, then Pathfinder: Kingmaker is well worth a choice plot in the barony of your PS4 games library.
Including all the extra DLC, Pathfinder: Kingmaker – Definitive Edition has plenty of D&D-style content for you to enjoy. That enjoyment is lessened by technical issues and some clunky UI, but the freedom to choose your own adventure, rule and expand a kingdom, and journey through the world with a party of unique companions can help you overlook these problems.
While some issues concerning UI and controls occurred from porting this game to consoles, Pathfinder: Kingmaker brings a true pen & paper feels onto the screen. This is easily one of the best console RPGs currently available, as it manages to surprise players with a challenging and long journey into the world of Dungeons & Dragons that’s full of meaningful choices and interesting characters.

Even if it's a very solid RPG with hundreds of hours on it, the current console version makes hard to enjoy such content.
