*Updated 4/28/2021: Constant nerfs to the power fantasy in some weird attempt to force in unneeded longevity has killed the game for me. Instead of buffing they are nerfing and it's a terrible choice. Never before has there been such a marriage of great gameplay and truly terrible dialogue. Despite the latter Outriders is a blast to play and a no-brainer on Xbox Game Pass.

Overall, while Outriders doesn’t invent any new mechanics, the story is enjoyable, and the interesting classes, gear system, and world tiers make for some very challenging but fun gameplay. There were definitely a few hiccups on release day, and there are some easy alterations that can be made to make Outriders more accessible. But I would definitely recommend picking up this title.

Outriders is one of the games which is blocked by only-online features. This game is a brilliant third-person shooter but needs to be improved in technical side.

Outriders drops the ball on something that had a lot of promise but fails to live up to it

Outriders is an absolute blast to play, with it easily standing out as my favourite game of 2021 so far. I won’t deny that it has some issues (the early server problems being the most obvious), but they’re easy to look past when the combat mechanics are so varied and fun, building your character and unlocking new loot is satisfying, and sharing the experience with friends brings with it a rewarding sense of strategy. It’s brilliant. It doesn’t re-invent the looter-shooter genre in any way and there won’t be anything on offer that you wouldn’t have seen done before, but it doesn’t matter – especially since all of the things it offers are of a high quality. Everything Outriders does is done well and it makes for a super fun experience because of it. There might be a few teething issues right now, but I’m excited to spend more hours with my friends taking down the baddies that are roaming across our new home of Enoch…

In a world where live-service games are becoming all the rage, Outriders feels like a much-needed breath of fresh air. Even more interesting is the fact it arrives in the form of a looter-shooter, not too dissimilar from other games of its genre. But where the likes of Destiny and The Division pride themselves on being an ongoing gig, Outriders sets itself apart as a fairly linear third-person looter shooter with everything available at launch. So for the most part, what you see is what you get, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Outriders has set out to be something different in a genre that is becoming increasingly popular, but does it succeed? Absolutely.

People Can Fly aren’t re-inventing the wheel here, and it may be rough around the edges, but this is some of the most thrilling third-person combat I've played in years.

In spite of the weak story and awful launch state, Outriders still manages to be a compelling and rewarding looter shooter.

Outriders is an action shooter game with RPG mechanics. A frenetic and aggressive game in which we will be a mutant throughout a civil war, developing our powers, while we arrive the narrative conclusion. The multiplayer stands out over the solo game, feeling especially fun and well-implemented at the RPG level, despite the Matchmacking problems. A beautiful title at graphic level, which will not leave us indifferent with its incredible settings and special effects.

While the launch was rough due to the numerous issues; they were addressed and the final result once patched is a deeply enjoyable action game that provides plenty of fun and challenges. Some may say waves of wildlife and enemies may become repetitive but the vast array of them as well as the varied locales, weapons, and powers had me hooked from start to finish.

Outriders is a very well thought-out shooter, with a gameplay capable of satisfying both solo and in co-op, and good looting and progression mechanics. Too bad for the many connection problems that plagued it so far, making it pretty much impossibile to play with friends. Once these problems have been addressed, just consider this review score increased by 1.

Outriders overstays its welcome with gameplay that goes from being really fun, to overly generic and boring without introducing many changes to its formula

Outriders is a fresh, entertaining and fun game in its playability, but with a visual design and a plot that does not surprise or attract attention, full of clichés and elements that we have already seen before in many games. The combat system is quite deep and allows to develop the characters in a very particular way. Unfortunately its many glitches and performance issues take their toll on the title.

Outriders is a game that seems to bring together the advantages of many of the root shooter games that have existed. Therefore, it shows a high level of completeness even though it is a new game, but it does not feel new despite it being a new IP. Fortunately, interesting stories and sophisticated narratives somewhat offset this lack.

Outriders may not excel at anything in particular but it does enough right to keep things interesting. The gunplay is good, the core loop of finding new gear is fun and exploring Enoch with friends (or solo) is a blast.

Outriders is a fun, engaging yet flawed game. The devs stuck to their guns and emphasized on their strengths and being true to the name of their studio – it aimed for the sky when producing its own loot-and-shoot action title, yet ultimately brought back down to reality by server issues.

It’s a complete game straight out of the box; Outriders doesn’t feel like another one of those live service games - you know the type - where you’re encouraged to go online and do dailies, weeklies, and pretty much not miss out on limited-time rewards. It’s very refreshing, as I didn’t feel the need to question what’s next for Outriders; while I can walk away from the experience happy I’ve accomplished all I set out to do, I can easily see myself revisiting this game again in the future with another character to repeat the process all over again.

While it may deter the contrarian with a palette for complaining about the odd grinding session, Outriders’ prolific statement plays an important role, impacting the ongoing conversation within its subjugated and controversial genre. If anything, the title delivers us a complete package that will easily be adored by fans, and may categorically assert itself as one of its genre’s greatest achievements. An essential this generation.
