DiRT 5 Reviews
DiRT 5 is a good game. Not the best of the series, but far from the worst. It is excessively beautiful and a whole lot of fun. It will please the fan of racing games, but mostly the ones that just like to play from time to time. Those looking for realism will probably pass on that one.

As great as Dirt 5's presentation may be, the gameplay is lacking. It looks and sounds incredible at times, but there isn't too much engaging content here to challenge players to do more and perform better as the driver. That changes if you're primarily racing against friends online or offline, but as a single-player experience, it feels flat once you peek under the flashy hood. It's fun for a few races at a time, and it's easy to jump in, but it's even easier to drop once you've had your fill.
Dirt 5 is an excellent racing game and is awesome fun to play with various race modes to suit all types of racers. Fans of the Colin McRae/Dirt series will sit in the drivers seat with ease, but there’s enough variety in game modes and track locations that it feels like a fresh iteration. On the Xbox Series X, the graphics are insane, however I did notice a drop in overall look and performance when I played on my original Xbox One.
Overall, Dirt 5 is a fun play. The easy to learn controls, fun arcade-like racing style, and craziness that playgrounds deliver makes this game a must-have for anyone who wants to play a racing-style game without the seriousness that comes along with sim-style racing like Dirt Rally 2.0 or some of the other Dirt titles
Codemasters truly are the experts of their craft. DIRT 5 is a step in a different direction that will be met with some fans not enjoying the rather arcade-style gameplay, but it is absolute joy for those do like this type of fast-fluid party action. There is enough variation in track diversity thanks to the dynamic weather and track terrain conditions to help keep DIRT 5 fresh.
Overall, the experience of playing Dirt 5 delivers on what racing fans might expect. The price point for the game is right where it should be at $59.99 even though it is a next-gen title. I recommend playing the game on the PlayStation 5 so you can experience the potential of the DualSense with haptic feedback and the HD rumble. I found myself enjoying Dirt 5 for short bursts of play before wishing I could go back to other blockbuster titles that satiated my hunger for story content and progression. I look forward to seeing how Codemasters improves upon this experience with their next installment in the Dirt franchise.
Dirt 5 is purely an arcade racer that knows exactly what it is aiming for. It does not let you wait long. It puts you directly behind the wheel, facing rain, snow, mud, ice, difficult turns, jumps and many more driving obstacles. It is neither the richest racing game out there in terms of content, nor the most realistic. Surely, however, it can offer eyepopping spectacle and plenty of fun.

DIRT 5's off-road racing with over 60 vehicles in 10 real world settings can be a ton of fun as you go for the gold while slipping and sliding in the rain, snow, ice, and mud. Plus, building your own stunt arenas is great for those who prefer careful maneuvers.
Dirt 5’s sublime racing experience is held back by a lackluster online feature set.
Dirt 5 revives what made the original series so successful. Fun right away without wasting time on adjustments and improvements of all kinds. He thus honors his illustrious arcade ancestors with a very nice rendering. It is thus easier to forgive missing functions that have now become classic in racing games.

Dirt 5 is a departure from earlier entries in the series, as it goes full arcade racer. That’s to its credit though, as the actual racing is satisfying and exciting. This means that the vehicles and their customization options feel a bit shallow, which could disappoint some fans. Thanks to an incredible Playgrounds mode and some pretty next-gen visuals, Dirt 5 is a solid offering from Developer Codemasters.
Dirt 5 is one of the most enjoyable arcade racing games out there, with colorful visuals to boot. The handling of the vehicles could do with a bit more polish, but the core concept is solid and offers plenty of adrenaline filled races.

The improvements to the handling, performance, visuals, and sound make DIRT 5 on PS5 the ultimate version of the game. If you're still on the fence about getting it, you're missing out.
It may not be as deep or sophisticated as many other modern racers, but Dirt 5 is nonetheless an entertaining outlet for engine revving on Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5.
Dirt 5 is a mixed bag; it’s a graphically exquisite experience with a flawed progression system and a lack of in-game rewards. However, it does excel in core gameplay and is enormously fun with a gentle learning curve and a great variety of race modes. If you are in the market for a fun and great-looking rally racing game that does away with all the “simulator” gubbins, Dirt 5 is well worth a look—foibles and all.
All in all, Dirt 5 sets the gold standard for a next-gen arcade racing experience. It’s good when played solo, but the experience is even better when played with a friend.
Whilst the game does feel a little by the book, I have to admit that the experience was well worth it on the PS5.
If you've just got yourself a PS5, don't sleep on DIRT 5. It brings bombastic, arcadey racing to the console's launch lineup, giving you something totally different to play alongside the heavy hitters. Although the haptic feedback implementation is basic and one or two visual bugs remain, the core experience is seriously fun, and well worth checking out if you like driving sideways.
Although Dirt 5 is made with a quality dough, it doesn't have that secret sauce to make it special.

DIRT 5 is the 14th game in the legendary Colin McRae Rally series of games, and 8th under the Dirt brand. Codemasters have pushed these games in so many directions over its 22 year span. I was right there on day one 1998, playing the original on my PlayStation. It created this overwhelming rush of excitement rallying cars through the mud and winding country roads of Scotland. So much has changed since then, but one thing that’s remained constant. The rush; red lining the revs in a Ford Fiesta, feeling your wheels slip across the loose terrain, torrential rain downpours and sprays of mud across the screen. That’s all still here, but the experience is amplified to an incredible level of realism.
