The creators of Remothered: Broken Porcelain, try to tell a story but with no success. It is difficult to understand the sequence of events but also how they relate to each other.

The Remothered series has had quite a troubled and complex history. What started as a 2-D homage to the Clock Tower games was soon scrapped and re-imagined into a more cinematic survival-horror experience. The first title in this new series; Remothered: Tormented Fathers, was a sleeper hit amongst horror fans. Praised for its storytelling and scary atmosphere, it was pretty certain that a sequel would be on the cards.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain is a broken mess of a nightmare in regards to its convoluted story and broken experience.

If only the team behind Remothered: Broken Porcelain spent more time working on crucial plot points, character motivation and gameplay mechanics, then we could have a rather good game on our hands. As of now Broken Porcelain is just full of game breaking bugs, some of which the devs are desperately trying to get rid of. If you're planning to buy Remothered: Broken Porcelain anyway, at least wait some time before the game will be fixed.

Dark hotel is good place for horror story, but this time it doesn't work.

Overall, there just isn't much to say about Remothered: Broken Porcelain. Almost every aspect of the game disappoints, so you tend not to focus on any one thing while playing. The story was incredibly confusing, but everything else was pretty bad, too, so I didn't even care. It feels incomplete and not paid attention to.

There’s an interesting concept for a horror game here with an insane story burdened by many issues. It’s a shame since the story is interesting, but not interesting enough to put up with so many flaws. Perhaps the true villain in Remothered: Broken Porcelain are the lengthy loading screens (on Xbox One at least) that will surely haunt the dreams of those that experience them.

Fortunately, the characters we will run into, be they friends or foes, once again have a very successful presence and development (special mention to that fearsome masked man). If we add to all of them a more than remarkable soundtrack, a more than correct dubbing of voices in English (don't worry, the texts are in Spanish) and a story that fully engages the player and that expands, with great success, the narration of Tormented Fathers, we find an unavoidable appointment for those who enjoyed this installment and for lovers of survival horror.

While I know there are fans of the series, and from what I can gather, Tormented Fathers was actually a decent time, Broken Porcelain feels off to me. Perhaps it needed a few more months of development time to work out the bugs and maybe have a better optimized stealth mechanic, but I don’t think we’ll ever know. There is some complexity to the story and some decent atmosphere, but it takes a lot to actually get into it. If you’re invested in the series, this is a maybe, but if you’re looking for a horror stealth game, there are others to just play much better.

I genuinely wanted to love Broken Porcelain, but sadly the game's many, many issues hold it back from being a proper playable experience, let alone the quality game it could have been.

Even though it would still be very short, if the technical aspects would have been fixed, the artistic part and atmosphere would have compensated for the length by offering an intense and memorable experience. Unfortunately in its actual form, even the most basic gameplay mechanics from Remothered: Broken Porcelain are broken, and as such, no one should waste time with it.

With Remothered: Broken Porcelain we can see what the developers wanted to do, but sadly we will see how badly they have done it. The game is months away from development, has too many bugs, bugs, and technical problems to ignore, and the worst thing is that they do affect the gameplay a lot. We're quite disappointed after a remarkable first installment, and hope that Stormind Games will face off and fix this mess, or they'll blow their reputation.

All in all, if you enjoyed the first Remothered then this one is worth picking up, but you might want to wait for a sale.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain is what happens when a game tries to be scary, but forgets to be fun. Honestly the game is a mess. You don't know what the story is trying to tell or where the gameplay is going. The dark atmosphere and creepy music are cool, but that's about it. You won't lose anything if you skip this game.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain is a terrible mess of a game. Boring gameplay, mediocre graphics, horrific sound mixing and unnecessarily convoluted plot make Broken Porcelain one of the worst games I played this year.

In a lot of ways, Remothered: Broken Porcelain is better than the first Remothered game, even though it suffers from weaker atmosphere and lack of tension. The remaining issues either already have been or will be fixed soon, so feel free to jump into this unusual title.

Again stealth is the key in Remothered. There are some playable novelties that go unnoticed and the plot becomes even more tangled if possible. A pity that there are many glitches, fortunately you can continue playing reloading last save easily.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain offers a lot from a narrative point of view and little from a playful one. Chris Darril's video game features many ideas that are good but don't work on balance. The little playful offer, the low longevity and the price at which it is sold make it difficult to appreciate. Probably without the troubled development the game has undergone, this would be a no doubt positive review.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain needs much patching in order to be even considered playable. With unresponsive controls, frame rate issues, texture pop-ins, and etc., this game comes off far more frustrating to play than it is scary.
