Resident Evil Village Reviews
I’ve been a fan of Resident Evil since I played the original RE2 when it was released in 1998. However, I’m not a purist. The increased emphasis on action isn’t Resident Evil Village’s issue. The problem is that it’s taken many elements and smooshed them together with little regard as to how they fit. If Capcom took a little more care with the game’s tone and its place in the series, it could have been a classic. As it is, RE Village is simply a good game with excellent production value.
Its attachment to the past can hold it back from greatness, especially in regards to its dedication to bombastic set-pieces and a hesitation to explore its own ideas. Village is drenched in excellence throughout, but the occasional fumble stops it from reaching the heights of both its predecessor and the seminal masterpiece it is so desperate to imitate. There’s also not nearly enough big lady - she needs her own game.
Resident Evil Village VR is a thrilling way to experience an already great game from a brand new perspective.
Resident Evil Village doesn't have the most engrossing or satisfying story in Resident Evil history, and its more action-oriented approach is likely to disappoint fans that enjoyed RE7's pure horror. However, Resident Evil Village is packed with replay value, rarely has a dull moment, and should leave Resident Evil fans excited for the franchise's future.
Resident Evil Village is a genuinely engrossing and increasingly combat-heavy continuation of the Ethan Winters story.
Resident Evil Village is a risky game and a new evolution of the concept of the saga that Capcom started with Resident Evil VII. Despite its flaws, Village is a great Resident Evil experience that will make us look scared and live typical situations of the saga.

Resident Evil Village is a very fulfilling package of action, puzzle and horror and the best possible continuation of this beloved series. It is on one hand a true classic Resident Evil experience and on other hand it has enough of new ideas to feel like a step forward.

By itself, Resident Evil Village is a fantastic addition to the survival-horror genre and focuses more on empowering the player rather than cheap horror elements. As part of the series, Village lacks in the story department and seems like it tries to cast too wide of a net to appeal to a greater audience rather than catering to the hardcore fans. Diehard ResE fans might be disappointed at the lack of lore in Village, but casual fans won’t feel like they need to have played every prior entry in order to have a good time. Ultimately, I’d recommend Resident Evil Village to anyone that loved Resident Evil 4 or who felt like Resident Evil 7 was too horror-focused.
Many of the previous entries in the game tend to just go from one location to another, such as Resident Evil 2 going from the police station, straight into the sewer, and then the lab. This did help Village to stand out and feel fresh and made the world just feel more vibrant and important rather than just set dressing.
After stepping away for a day, after beating Village, it has become one of my favorite Resident Evil titles and I hope whoever reads this picks up a copy and enjoys it.
In short, if you like Resident Evil 7 and the atmosphere it offers, the elements of horror, I can say that you will enjoy a similar experience from Resident Evil Village. Resident Evil Village has already become one of the most successful games of the year, despite some shortcomings.

Despite its flaws, Resident Evil 8: Village offers a fabulous horror experience that fans will enjoy.
All-in-all, Resident Evil Village is a fantastic shooter that’s overflowing with grim and grisly visuals that add a flourish of horror to a wonderful repertoire of action. While the move towards a supernatural theme meets with mixed results, it’s impossible to argue with how enjoyable gameplay is, or the effort taken to merge the distant and recent pasts of the franchise into a new monster for the new age.
Resident Evil Village is a deliciously gruesome game. Ethan Winters gets it again and once more has to go through hell to save his family. This time no crazy family, but a bigger setting that gives you more freedom. Although the game is somewhat linear initially, the level of horror continues to rise but this time combined with more puzzles and exploring. The enemies are terrifying and next to that survival is truly back with the RE4-inventory system.

Overall Resident Evil Village is a fantastic entry into the realm of Resident Evil. It continues the storyline, it causes more questions than it answers, it allows for future entries to pick up from both the pre and post credits, and it was fun. Do I wish that Ethan Winters had more personality like our once again returning Chris Redfield? Yes. Was it enough to take me away from the gorgeous mountain views and the terrifying creepy haunted mansion on a hill? No, it sadly wasn’t and I really never want to see that house again!
Resident Evil Village is just about the right length, bringing together the best parts this franchise has to offer into one cohesive, neat little package.
An audacious and ambitious game that ranks among the best of the series, even if it's a touch inharmonious.
When it comes to an all-time high for the franchise, Resident Evil Village pushes the boundaries, it attempts to build on well-established tropes the series is known for, and it does it rather well. Well enough that the series could continue on this way, using the first-person perspective to its advantage and continue delivering the jumps and scares the series is known for.
Resident Evil Village is one of the most impressive games in the series, but it's also a harbinger of better games with what it's brought to the series.
