New Pokémon Snap is a beautiful gift for Pokémon fans. Especially for lovers of the first Snap, who yearned for a continuation for more than 20 years. It is exciting to go back to the Pokémon world with a camera in hand and discover everything new. Perhaps the specific genre of photo simulator is not for everyone, given that it calls for a certain high level of patience. However, if you are looking to relax a little in the midst of the world's confusion, taking a deep breath with your heart, eyes and ears wide open, surely New Pokémon Snap is the ideal game.

New Pokémon Snap is not perfect, but it is far and away the sequel to the 1999 classic we have all been waiting for. While I wish some pacing issues and nitpicks with what is no longer in the game have influenced my enjoyment, overall, I cannot wait to spend countless more hours perfecting my photography skills and engrossing myself in this absolutely stunning world.

New Pokemon Snap is there for fans who wish for a casual Pokemon experience with the only challenge being to take creative pictures of Pokemon. It recaptures much of what the previous entry offered with plenty of new systems and features to add depth, but it sadly doesn’t deliver on the sense of ownership over the pictures that I once felt. It’s all so fleeting in this digital age. Still, there are plenty of beautiful environments and Pokemon to take shots of. I wouldn’t mind waiting another 20 years for a sequel or having this be the last entry altogether.

New Pokémon Snap is great. Some of its new gameplay features, such as the four-star photo system, are unnecessarily convoluted and its story couldn’t have been more forgettable. However, this is exactly what we’ve been asking for the past twenty-two years: a bigger, prettier sequel to the 1999 classic, with more areas to explore and more Pokémon to interact with.

New Pokémon Snap is a splendid sequel bringing the series in the right direction and which will fill the hearts of Pokémon fans with joy. For this second chapter, Bandai Namco offers plenty of content and the improved visuals will charm long time fans. Graphically speaking, this is the best looking Pokémon game on the market and it gives us lots of hope for the futur.

New Pokémon Snap shows how a good sequel should be made: You don't change the gameplay of the original, but use it as a basis to build on it with optimizations. Self-alternating routes, more boss stages, and four different motifs for each of the over 200 Pokémon show that the principle of the photo safari can still work excellently two decades later and have significantly more replay value. The only downer remains the uninspired plotline in the camp, which tends to bore rather than make the game more interesting.

Although it repeats itself from time to time and price is a little bit high, it's a must-have game for Pokemon fans.

It’s a calming, relatively tranquil game with a huge addictiveness at its core and a desire among players to come back and try to snap an ever-better picture perfect moment.

New Pokémon Snap is a wholesome reinvention of the original, bringing the best bits forward into the sequel. We’ve battled Pokémon but being able to leisurely snap photos and these creatures in their habitat is as fun as capturing them all.

Fans demanded a sequel for years, and New Pokémon Snap highlights why: at its core, this is the perfect concept for a Pokémon spinoff.

"New Pokemon Snap" has a variety of interactions that cannot be felt in other Pokemon games focused on capture and battle. However, if you focus on collecting, the various systems will annoy you.

New Pokémon Snap is the successful reincarnation of the original Pokémon spin-off from 1999, which not only looks wonderful, but also depicts an authentic Pokémon world. While New Pokémon Snap will fully satisfy the collecting mania of any Pokémaniac, those of you who have trouble getting excited about the franchise anyway will probably have rather little joy with the title. Nintendo doesn't take any big risks with the sequel and delivers exactly what fans have come to expect: an unexciting rail shooter with great backdrops and thoroughly staged Pokemon acting. You can certainly criticize the game for that, but Pokémon enthusiasts will probably still get their money's worth.

If you’re somebody that is looking for more substance there is a lot to be desired, and you likely will not find it worth the price tag. That being said however, I still recommend Pokemon Snap. It’s a delightful experience that embodies what the original game intended to create and amps it up to 11. Picking it up on sale would be best, but if you cannot wait that long and really want a laid back experience, it’s a worthy purchase. Also, if you placed your bets on Pyukumuku for Pyukumuku V Wailmer, I feel sorry for you.

I really wish New Pokémon Snap was a bit more and that I could roam those worlds freely. That graphics were better. However, it's one of the most innovative experiences that I've played so far this year.

New Pokémon Snap is a visually stunning game that suffers from a lack of innovation. There are a couple of welcome additions in the gameplay. However, it forgoes key elements that made the original so successful.

In 1999, Pokémon Snap was released for the Nintendo 64. One of the first console-based games as a spin off for the Pokémon series, and featuring Pokémon rendered for the first time in real-time 3D, it remains a fond memory for many. It was something unique and much different from the mechanics in the main line titles, with first-person rail shooter gameplay.
