Fract OSC's puzzles are often too few and far between the open-world wandering, and the music integration does little to stir the soul.

If you do like games that challenge you to work out the rules for yourself, to find the edges of the world by falling over them, then Fract is a unique and often remarkable experience, best savoured in the dark at full volume. Go on, get lost.

Fract is lonely, but it's also the best seat in the house

Fract OSC's chorus soars, but its verse languishes.

Seeing the world fill up with sound and color is an amazing sight and it's something that should be experienced by all regardless of your level of music skill.

If you're in ownership of functioning eyes and ears, then you owe it to yourself to play this game.

The game ultimately falls between the stools, being neither quite mischievously obscure art game nor ingenious pure puzzler. But what it has is marvel – momentary, perhaps, in comparison to the game's overall length, but rare enough in itself. Surely that fleeting experience alone is worth a look and a listen.

While Fract OSC is probably squarely in the 'not for everyone' category, those interested in a unique, music-centric experience with a healthy dose of exploration and obscure puzzles should definitely check out what this one has to offer.

It's hard to wholeheartedly recommend Fract OSC, because while technically it does everything well, something in it doesn't quite gel in the way one would hope.  It's a beautiful game with a unique art style, a nicely intricate world to explore, and some good puzzles to solve, but somehow it also ends up being a bit aimless and sterile.

At its best, Fract is a wonderful celebration of a videogame's capacity to ignite your senses. At its worst, it can be a downright chore.

[I]t's not just about exploring a lost civilization but also about giving back in some way to ensure that ours is not left to the same fate.

FRACT offers a glimpse into what that reality could look like, but presents a new source of magic at the same time. Instead of bobbing your head out in the audience, now you're behind the decks, steering the ship wherever you want it to go, even when you don't know where you'll end up. FRACT proves that it's through your own creative input that you can continue to surprise yourself beyond those initial magical moments. It's true that FRACT isn't the most mind-bending puzzle game out there or the most powerful music production software on the market; its triumph is in forging a middle path.

The marvel of Fract OSC struck me to the point of immobility.
