Players can perform elaborate tricks and moves, all in an atmosphere that doesn't go heavy on pressure or stress, and they are relatively easy to pull off thanks to simple and accessible controls. And yet, The Ramp could have been more than that, it could have more tricks to perform, more arenas to discover, perhaps a bigger or longer challenge, but other than something for players looking specifically for a simple, unassuming experience, there's not much more The Ramp has to offer.

This is actually a really difficult one to review, as going in the stated purpose of The Ramp is to make more of a skateboarding "toy" than a game, and for someone who is geared to evaluate games that's a bit tough to wrap your head around when it comes to trying to score it...

The Ramp is a simulation skateboarding game that focuses on the flow of skateboarding instead of achievements. Having seen the trailer, I was excited to see how this game played especially given the budget price point. Did this game nail the landing? Find out in this Rapid Review.

The Ramp was made for a specific purpose and it serves that purpose. I just wish I had more fun doing it. However, if you're into skateboarding and don't care about all the extra stuff, you might want to check this one out. Otherwise, wait for the next Tony Hawk Remaster.

Nevertheless, for its relatively low price, The Ramp does control reasonably well, and although the range of tricks on offer is undoubtedly quite limited, there's plenty of fun to be had here if you're not bothered about gaining scores or doing tasks like collecting S-K-A-T-E tokens. If you're after something a bit meatier, then you'll be better off going for something like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2, or OlliOlli World, but The Ramp does have a certain minimal charm which we enjoyed.

The Ramp is a simplistic skateboarding game with no goals or challenges to meet, all you do is have fun skating on the four courses and performing cool tricks. The game doesn't have a huge time requirement, you just have fun skating around.

I’m not going to blast The Ramp too much for how limited it is in its offerings because the developer is pretty straightforward about exactly that. It’s essentially a chill experience without goals or milestones to achieve. You skate to your heart’s content, enjoy the soundtrack, land tricks, crash and burn, and restart to your heart’s content. I enjoyed it for what it is. It’s not something I can imagine anyone putting hours of playtime into. Still, at the very least, if you want to kill some time, stick some tricks, and occasionally absolutely annihilate your poor little skater on some bad landings, The Ramp could be worth a spin at its low price of $6.

The Ramp is pretty bare bones, but it does feature a very solid gameplay loop and laid-back nature. To be honest, its biggest problem isn’t even its lack of content, but the fact it’s only available on a PC, and not the Switch. Maybe when the Steam Deck is finally out, we’ll be able to enjoy these bite-sized indies via a brand new perspective, as The Ramp is actually worth your time, if you can put up with playing it on a computer for the time being.

I didn't expect anything from it and... I am not disappointed. This is how we could summarize The Ramp, a game that wanted to capture the feeling of relaxation created by the practice of skateboarding under a chill music.

Overall, The Ramp is exactly what it says it is. It's designed from the ground up to entertain its players with a simple gameplay loop that can be enjoyed for a couple minutes or a couple hours. That simplicity not only makes it easy to pop in and out of, but its mechanics are incredibly addicting, and setting personal challenges becomes most of the fun. Given its low price and the hours of fun it provides, The Ramp is absolutely worth picking up and dropping into whenever one gets the urge to shred.

The Ramp is a minimal skateboarding experience that acts as more of a tool than a video game. At face value, it is an enjoyable experience that's perfect for a quick skate, but those looking for a bit more depth might be better off looking elsewhere.

The Ramp is a polished skateboarding experience, with tight controls, deep gameplay, and some chill tunes. It’s easy to get into, but hard to master, and best played in short bursts. A true digital toy, that you can play with, and get better at while having an absolute blast.

I’ve already lost hours to The Ramp, and I think a lot of players will find this chill toy of a game is just what they’re looking for.

The Ramp is a minimalistic, bite-sized skateboarding title from Hyperparadise. With stripped-down controls and nothing to unlock, it captures the core essence of skating. Dropping into the game is as easy and satisfying as dropping into a real half-pipe, and you’ll keep coming back for more.

Overall, The Ramp felt like a much more simplistic (very simplistic) version of OlliOlli. There is no story, but for the $6 price tag, it’s probably worth getting if you’re a skateboard fan or just looking for a new challenge. The Ramp pays homage to the art of vert-skateboarding by not being too difficult to learn. Sure, it is much closer to a toy than a game, and there’s plenty of room for new additions in the future. But what this single developer was able to accomplish is well worth the price of admission, and it should become a nice arcade alternative for skateboarders everywhere.
