It's a little disappointing that one of the most compelling and thought-provoking dungeon crawlers will be inevitably dismissed and derided because it's fleshy and fan servicey. The Mary Skelter series is one of Idea Factory's greatest achievements, being both mechanically deep and thematically rich, and Mary Skelter Finale is the complete realisation of the intent of the series. I'd never encourage Australians to break the law to access censored games, of course, but just remember those Nintendo Switch consoles are region free...

Engaging characters and dramatic plot twists teamed with a stellar soundtrack make Mary Skelter Finale one of the best dungeon crawling RPGs on Nintendo Switch. Replayability will happen if the true ending is not reached as all will want the beloved characters to get their final happy ending, and also for the pure joy of being with such a unique lovable cast. Issues such as enemy visuals in battle and at times frustratingly difficult puzzles do not detract much from the overall enjoyment of the final title in the Mary Skelter trilogy whose traumatic start and heart-warming conclusion leaves a memorable imprint on gamers' hearts.

"As a final statement, I have to say I’m incredibly pleased with the progress that has been made on the Skelter gameplay since I first picked the first title up on Vita and binged it for 3 days straight. Many a function have been refined, the combat feels smooth, if not a bit unfair at times, the tower exploration is fun, and the characters are all unique and interesting. There’s a reason the Mary Skelter series has cemented its place as my favorite dungeon crawler, and you really don’t want to miss it." – Richard "So overall, between all of the elements new and old, the dungeon crawling between various parties and having to think in more than just what’s in front of you alongside the amazing massive amounts of dialog to tell the story, Mary Skelter Finale closes the book on this amazingly and macabre fairytale series." – Pierre-Yves

Even though this took a lot longer than I expected, I really had a great time with Mary Skelter Finale. This is everything I could’ve asked for in a story conclusion, with a great ending and tons of extra content. The dungeon crawling is a ton of fun, even if the maps are huge and puzzle-filled at times, and the combat has enough depth to keep you coming back for hours on end. If you’re a fan of the series, at $49.99 the asking price is a no brainer. You will love this. In fact, fans of the franchise that haven’t snagged up one of Idea Factory International’s fantastic Limited Editions, should highly consider it. At roughly $105 it isn’t cheap, but it is packed with goodies like a hardback novel set, soundtrack for the entire franchise, a poster and more. If you have never played Mary Skelter and want to see what it’s all about, this entry includes all of the story bits from the previous games, so there is no reason you couldn’t jump in right here and have a great time as well.

If you enjoyed the previous entries then you'll absolutely love Mary Skelter Finale. It's so jam-packed with content, cleverly designed scenarios, and incredible characters that you'll find it hard to put down even after hours of bloody good dungeon crawling.

Mary Skelter Finale is a beautiful conclusion to a daring series of dungeon RPGs. Avoiding some of its predecessor's mistakes and opting for a more serious atmosphere like the one in the first game, the title offers an experience that any fan of the genre should check out.

Mary Skelter Finale is a worthy conclusion to this turbulent saga of struggles against seemingly impossible to overcome odds. The cast is spread apart and segmented but undoubtedly bound together by the simultaneously cruel yet compassionate whims of fate. The gameplay is arguably at its height in this entry. The returning systems are satisfyingly addicting with the inclusion of the Zapping mechanic and standout character interactions. Even when accounting for the poorly paced main narrative and over-indulgent dungeon design, this is absolutely a finale worth experiencing in all of its unabashed, climatic glory.

Mary Skelter Finale is an incredibly dense game. Dozens of unique gameplay mechanics, intriguing characters, and gigantic dungeons make up just a small portion of this gigantic dungeon crawler.

Mary Skelter Finale closes the curtain for Idea Factory's DRPG franchise in a satisfying way. It does so before the audience could get tired, but while it still could explore its story and refine a few exploration and combat mechanics.

Mary Skelter Finale stands out not only as the big ending for the trilogy, but also an excellent overall package that lets you start there without missing a scrap of storyline. This stuff is a niche within a niche to say the least, but gorehounds, anime dorks and dungeon devotees can eat pretty well here.

Mary Skelter Finale’s incredibly slow pacing hinders some interesting story elements but solid combat and likable main characters makes this first person dungeon crawler a solid conclusion.

There’s still a good handful of things to like; I think the characters are all unique and cute with their design and personalities. If you want to play Mary Skelter Finale, play the previous games first to know if you may be interested in a dungeon crawling JRPG.

This is the final installation of the Mary Skelter series. While it’s unfortunate that there hasn’t been much of a retouch since the previous title, the new storyline makes up for it all. If you’re a true fan who’ve been following since its beginning, this is your chance to check out the true ending of the epic tale. This new story continues from the ending of the last title, so if you haven’t experienced the earlier days of the story, make sure to check out the ‘Before Story’ segment to fill you up on its past.

Mary Skelter as a series is good at surprising players. In many ways, Mary Skelter Finale is something of a grand finale that takes time to review what worked for the series.

Although the main mechanics remain the same, there's a new addition to the gameplay that distinguishes this final chapter from its predecessors - here players will incarnate different groups of characters and help each other in the exploration process. This adds a new layer of variety to the game, but also slows down its pacing. While not everyone will embrace this dimension, Mary Skelter Finale is a worthy ending to the trilogy, and one that can be enjoyed by veterans and newcomers.

Overall, Mary Skelter Finale is in a rough place. It's far from accessible to newcomers, the opening can be fairly intimidating and there is a lot of stuff thrown at you at once. This makes it hard to recommend to newcomers and have the potential to fail with returning fans. Those who enjoy dungeon crawlers and put in the time are greeted with a rather interesting experience that concludes the series nicely.

The third entry to this dungeon crawler series is not much more than average, offering a disappointing overextended Finale to the Mary Skelter franchise.

It is still a game I return to, and stubbornly try to work through. Perhaps I simply lack patience, or the game isn’t abusing me to the degree that Prinny did to make me stubborn. Whatever the case, I can say it is not quite my cup of tea. Don’t let that dissuade you however. If you too love dungeon crawling RPGs and have the spare dosh, check the title out. Between Finale and the recently repacked release that includes the prior two games you can have all three titles on a single platform.

Mary Skelter Finale is, if we reduce it to her small universe, a good closing for the saga. Now, like JRPG itself, it is a proposal that repeats problems and lacks a great lack of ambition. I save it because it will be interesting to your target audience, but it falls far short of what an admirable JRPG should offer.

Though newcomers can jump in here, Mary Skelter Finale is one for fans of the series and dense dungeon-crawlers in general. It will definitely satisfy some, but those passing by with simply a casual interest will find it a slog.
