If you have the connection to support this “cloud play” game, it offers intense and compelling squad-based shooting

Alien Fireteam Elite is enjoyable but not recommended for people looking for a single-player experience.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite - Pathogen does make improvements upon previous levels and delivers a familiar yet enjoyable Aliens experience, albeit maybe a bit too familiar. Whilst not without untapped potential, this is certain to be a worthwhile investment if you found yourself wanting more from Aliens: Fireteam Elite.

Pathogen is the new Aliens: Firetem Elite expansion, it boasts a completely new campaign but fails to address the errors that were present in the base game.

If you and your friends are still really into Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Pathogen is a no-brainer purchase. Like the Chapter 2 content, Pathogen adds lots of toys, cosmetics, and a new mode. For casual players only dipping into Fireteam Elite on occasion, the ratio of cost to content might not work in their favor. With the right group — that is, human friends or cooperators — Pathogen is just as rewarding as the base game, and extends the fun just a little longer.

Pathogen brings a brisk new quest among new species of intruders, but it's without any major surprises, just cosmetic additions. The campaign holds up, but it does not surpass the quality of the missions from the original game.

In the run-up to the release of Aliens: Fireteam Elite, fellow Rapid Reviewer Ciaran McGinn shared a few of his thoughts on the perfect Alien(s) game. My own love affair with the Alien(s) franchise began in my childhood. I wouldn’t like to hazard a guess at how old I was when I watched Aliens (the film that began it all for me) – too young most likely.

Overall I found Aliens Fireteam Elite to be a pleasurable experience with only a few hiccups. The graphics are on point, the audio keeps very well planned to keep with the theme and feel over the series.

Despite issues with repetition, Aliens: Fireteam Elite delivers where it counts; in its core gameplay. When you’re in the moment, obliterating hundreds of enemies using iconic weapons, against the backdrop of stunning locations that tap into the amazing cinematography the Alien franchise is known for, any shortcomings almost seem irrelevant. And, with the promise of free playable content to come across the next year, the rock-solid foundation which Cold Iron Studios has built could turn into something truly special.

The game provides a great mix-up of Xenomorph and Working Joe types but leaves you feeling overwhelmed at times making strategy and setup crucial depending on the difficulty. I do wish there was more healing aside from holding 1 health pack since your team setup may not consist of any support class. It does seem like levels are stuffed with endless ammo but little to no recovery. Other than those few issues the game is a fantastic entry to the Alien Franchise and fans or coop shooters or Alien alone will love the game.

‎Aliens: Fireteam Elite is the co-op game that every fan of the franchise will want to play. The setting and the confrontation against the Aliens make it a very enjoyable experience for fans of the work of Ridley Scott.‎

As strong as the source material is, Alien games just statistically don’t manage to deliver. It wasn’t until the second chapter when I was fighting off androids that I started to have a little bit of fun. But to be frank, that was the most disappointing part of all. I was looking forward to enjoying an Aliens game, but the only time I really enjoyed myself was when the game looked the least like Aliens.

If you're a fan of the Movies, especially the best one of all, Aliens, then this game is a triumph in letting you live out your jovial colonial marine fantasy and bug hunt with two pals. The game is genuinely engaging if too short for its own good, but then again perhaps you could say that it doesn't outstay its welcome in being a short and sweet romp through the 12 Xenomorph filled environments. It's an absolute blast!

Aliens Fireteam Elite is a very good release that scrupulously respects the codes laid down by the eponymous saga (despite the presence of some novelties, but always in the tone) and this is perhaps in the end its biggest flaw.

While Left 4 Dead is a clear influence, Fireteam Elite really hasn't grasped the notion that players need some room to breathe and collect their thoughts. Nowhere is safe, and the constant onslaught quickly becomes tiring. While missions only last about 20 minutes, they're unwaveringly stressful, and there's so much to take in that the motion tracker – annoyingly located on the far right of the screen – is practically redundant. If it's just you and the Working Joes on a squad then Aliens: Fireteam Elite can feel like hard work; it's very much at its best when played with friends, basking in the nostalgia of this resilient series.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite does something we already suspected, is a game that does more for the financial success of the IP than the IP for the game itself.

Very basic and formulaic co-op shooter which is too similar to what it tries to copy. Not the worst Aliens game, but not the best either.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a solid multiplayer shooter that has a good range of ways to play. I would have liked it to have more missions, but it does have a good amount of replayability, especially if playing online with friends—and there have already been promises of more content on the way.

What Aliens: Fireteam Elite needs is a generous dose of content, and arguably a bigger production.
