Lack of content compared to most of the big fighting games and kind of outdated visuals aside, the arcade design of Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions coupled with nostalgic training montages make this a must have for Rocky fans.

Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions is not exactly a very good fighting game, but it does have a bit of charm. It can be quite appealing to a very specific niche: those who are really into the Rocky and Creed movies, and those within this demographic who don’t own a PSVR, since Creed: Rise to Glory is superior in every single way. If anything, I can safely say this is the best non-VR Rocky game ever made. Only because the franchise’s history in gaming is as bad as Rocky’s face after getting beaten up by Apollo in the first movie…

Big Rumble Boxing is a fun and accessible arcade boxing game that brings everything that made Creed: Rise to Glory VR a hit back in 2018 to the masses. Just beware of the price tag and lack of online multiplayer.

Big Rumble Boxing is a love letter to Rocky and Creed that should make for great party gaming fodder. There isn’t much for solo boxers but for punching on with friends there is a lot of fun to be had.

Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions is one for the movie fans, but it’s also a fun arcade boxing game for anyone who happens to be looking for one. The core boxing action is entertaining, with a wide cast of characters to try out. While the game falls short in its presentation and gameplay modes, there is still enough here to provide a satisfying boxing challenge as you unlock new content and relive your favorite moments from the movies.

Despite its earnest attempts to deliver Rocky and Creed fans a fun and arcade-like fighting experience, Big Rumble Boxing sadly cannot stand up to the heavyweights or even middleweights of the fighting game genre. Suffering from repetitive mechanics, a shallow content offering and an art style that has great character models but lifeless fight presentation, Creed Champions falters under the softest of hooks.

Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions is a clearly focused game for fans of the Rocky movies. It fulfills as a boxing arcade -simple and concise- but where it shows its value is in the high level of fan service, reaching its zenith in a powerful soundtrack extracted directly from the franchise films and in the opportunity to play iconic boxing matches like Rocky Balboa vs. Apollo Creed.

Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions is a safe bet on the Rocky franchise, providing a balance between arcade game and difficulty that makes you have entertaining and challenging matches. With a simple control at first, but difficult to master and very enjoyable if you are a fan of the Italian colt saga, since you will be able to recall all the combats seen in the movies.

A game that, with its pluses and minuses, manages to be something meaningful for any fan of the Rocky and Creed sagas.

You have to be clear about what you want when you enter to play Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions. Nor is it a sports game with high levels of realism, much less is it the next Street Fighter. The bottom line is that it will not become one of the best games of its kind. But who cares. As the quintessential boxing franchise game, it's the best experience fans can get into.

Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions is a full-on arcade boxing game; the opposite of the boxing simulator Knockout Kings, which later became the critically acclaimed Fight Night series. You can select Arcade mode, where akin to fighting games, you select a character and fight your way to the boss while experiencing a paper-thin story. Or you can also jump in Versus mode against an A.I. or a buddy.

While doing this Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions review I do look back on fondness for the game. While it does have its flaws. It’s a nice refreshing change to go back to a boxing game. You don’t have to be a fan of the Rocky franchise to play it although that certainly does help. It can appeal to any gamer with its easy-to-pick-up and play attitude. So that’s why I’m going to give Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions the Thumb Culture Silver Award.

If you’re just a fan of the films and want a casual fighting game to remind you how cool Mr. T looked as a boxer, then the forgettable boxing bouts might be worth some of the nostalgia-fueled laughs.

Boxing is one of the least served sports in video games – even Handball has an annual franchise – so any competent adaptation will get some attention. Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions isn’t a champion of the genre, but its lean, focused design makes it a strong contender.

Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions is a pleasant surprise for fans of arcade-style boxing games. It might not overflow with modes, and the lack of online play hurts, but the Arcade mode offers some well done, if ridiculous stories. The mechanics are simple to understand but deep, allowing for some technically smart fights to occur. In the end, the game won't go down as a classic, but it provides a fun experience and would be a good addition to your local versus game lineup.

Some will undoubtedly be disappointed that Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions doesn’t have more modes – the lack of online multiplayer is especially egregious. Still, those looking for a fun boxing game that doesn’t take itself too seriously will find enjoyment here. While it’s obviously aimed at fans of the Rocky film franchise, even those who have never watched a single Rocky or Creed film will get a kick out of the action. Just like boxing itself, there’s nothing clever about Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions, but it puts on a good show.

I think it's important to keep in mind that Big Rumble Boxing is an arcade game. With that mindset, you are going to have a really fun time, especially if you spar with a friend. Who doesn't want to play out Rocky versus Apollo Creed again? Or even Rocky versus Adonis? The Arcade mode does feel a little thin, and there are certain things that could have been done to flesh the game out from feeling like it's missing something (more voice acting would have added some much-needed meat to this mode), but aside from this, it's a great pick-up-and-play boxing game.

Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions took advantage of an extremely strong brand and unfortunately this is the biggest advantage of the game. The gameplay itself quickly becomes repetitive, and due to the lack of possibility of online clashes, even music does not sustain the fun for longer hours.

Creed Champions fails to capture the rawness of Michael B. Jordan’s against-all-odds energy in the Creed films. While the game has its pitfalls, I do believe the framework of Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions is certainly something to build upon.
