The game features strong narratives, interesting characters, and a great mix of voice acting and soundtracks. Each story told or scene felt unique and can drum up a variety of emotions. At times, we would just stop to listen to the music rather than progressing through the game. Lost in Random is a fun game to play through but falls short of becoming a must-have. Players can easily get 12 hours of gameplay out of Lost in Random so it is easily worth its $29.99 retail price for fans of dark fairy tales. For those who are not, then waiting for it to go on sale or join EA Play is a wise choice.

Lost in Random is a magical experience in several areas. The story, presentation, and world are a joy to experience from start to finish, with a few minor exceptions. On the other hand, the combat is initially refreshing but is hindered by the length of encounters and a lack of depth in its mechanics, so later encounters feel like a frustrating chore. It's a fun action-adventure in short bursts, and Lost in Random deserves much more attention than it has received.

Lost in Random performs expertly on its gameplay and graphics, but falls very short when it comes to its little effort in the dialogue aspect. It's also a shame to see how little polish the ending received.

Given a chance, Lost in Random is one of the delightful surprises this year, providing a fresh take on an action-adventure combat system by combining it with a deck-building mechanic. It fits with the thematic arc of the story while adding a decent collectible mechanic in the game that efficiently streamlines its main gameplay loop. This results in a tight 12-hour adventure that gives you enough story, gameplay, and extras for a complete experience that respects your time and money.

Lost in Random wears its visual influences on its sleeve and is more than worth a look for those who are fans of that kind of aesthetic alone. The story grabs you immediately and maintains a steady drip-feeding of excitement throughout its playtime and the game is just overall a refined and lovingly crafted adventure that will appeal to even those who are generally turned off by "card battle" games, as the content and gameplay here goes much deeper than that.

Lost in Random is a pleasant action-adventure with a clever use of numbers, great visual design, and a unique combat system that allows players to roll with the punches.

With an art style that mimics that of all the Tim Burton classics; Lost in Random is taking a bold step. From the characters, the music and the world that Zoink Games have created I was immediately reminded of films such as The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery and for the most part it’s done incredibly well here.

If there's an idea no one's done before, it's probably because it's just a bad idea. But Zoink has managed to hit on something original that actually works with Lost in Random. Its audiovisual world-building is tremendous, ably lifting a servicable quest structure and story, and inventive combat plays to its strengths and is taken carefully up to the limits of its potential. However, the layers of interaction during battles make a promise of strategic complexity that isn't kept, and encounters last too long without the depth to sustain interest. Nevertheless, everything is packaged beautifully and Lost in Random doesn't outstay its welcome, either, leaving you craving one last roll of the dice.

Lost in Random is about real life, which the narrator described as "lavish but impartial, ghastly but beautiful."

Lost in Random is another example of genuine uniqueness coming from the “EA Originals” program which brought us It Takes Two earlier this year. It excels in creating a nightmarish setting filled with charming characters and dry humor to indulge in its wonderous writing. From a gripping narrative and lovable protagonist to the friends found in the twisted streets. With engaging enemy encounters, intricate combat, and interesting but disappointing bosses. Zoink Games excellently delivers a fun experience that will leave you wanting to dive back in after the credits roll. It will be hard to not want to get lost in Random again.

‎Lost in Random is a unique blend of card game and action/adventure game. The development of the universe and the plot has a hard time getting started, but once you have met Par and his unexpected companions, you begin to fall in love with his story in that strange Burtonian world. And we can not forget the humor that shines constantly, and the visual and sound section that does not disappoint. Its main problem is that the AI is not very challenging, and more variety is missing from the cards.‎

Lost in Random isn't a terribly long game. Even if you do keep the battles long by maintaining normal difficulty you can knock it off in around a dozen hours or so of gameplay time. By that stage, you probably won't find the combat as charming as you did when you first started, but you'll still want to see it to its conclusion, because the narrative and humour are so particularly strong.

Lost in Random certainly finds itself admist a treasure trove of creative indies. But despite some pacing issues and some issues around its combat and navigation, I really got sucked into this fascinating, creepy world and its enchanting story and mostly found myself enjoying what the game itself has to offer amidst its side quests and unique activities. Definitely worth a peek!

Each time you make some good progress, the game throws in a combat scenario that just takes all the wind out of your sails. It made me actively want to play the game in slower chunks, just not to get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of these combat segments. Lost in Random definitely can hold its own against other titles and feels like a premium experience, but on it's way there the balance between randomness and thought out design may have gotten a bit lost.

Even with its faults, there's simply no denying just how special of a game Lost in Random is. From its awe-inspiring world to its ingenious gameplay, there's a lot to love in this incredible and memorable albeit often-frustrating adventure.

With its gameplay, mixing action, dying, deck building and card game, we could, at first glance, fear the worst, but this one turns out to be set to small onions and be particularly effective with a grip quickly becoming natural. A success.

Lost in Random offers a vivid world and unique bunch of characters, but some of the cities sadly feels pretty samey with not enough personality and variety.

This is a game that came close to greatness for me, but in the end the combat held it back. I still quite enjoyed my time with it thanks to the story, and I am very interested to see what developer Zoink is working on next. As it is not a full-priced title I think it’s worth taking a chance on if what you’ve seen here sounds interesting to you.
