I don't see why anyone shouldn't pick this title up; it's phenomenal, enthralling, and - possibly most important - fun.

With a captivating story and a tense survival experience, this should be more than satisfying, especially if you’re a fan of other third-person horror titles, such as The Evil Within and Silent Hill that feature similar towns and rural areas.

When compared to the original Alan Wake, though, the Switch port is absolutely comparable. There's similar gameplay and visual treatment that we'd seen back in 2010, which isn't a bad thing, though you may not want to revisit it too often. Porting an Xbox 360 game to the Nintendo Switch isn't necessarily a big feat, but at the end of the day, at least we now have another fine way to play this fantastic game.

It's hard to recommend Alan Wake Remastered when it means suffering through such a terrible port. Unless you're a Switch-only gamer, you'd be well-advised to ignore this altogether, and playing the game on any of the many other systems this is available on. And if your only option is the Switch? Maybe skip this one and just trust everyone who says it's a game well worth playing.

It’s hard to recommend this de-mastered port of Alan Wake on the Nintendo Switch due to how inconsistent the frame rates are and how downgraded and blurry the graphics are. Considering this title is readily available and cheaper on so many different platforms, you are far better off enjoying this classic third-person horror shooter on a PC, PlayStation, or Xbox. If the Switch is your only option or you value portability, then I guess this version is somewhat viable, but just keep your expectations in line. At least it’s not a Cloud port, right?

Alan Wake Remastered is a game that deserves to be enjoyed, there is no doubt about that, but the Nintendo Switch version is only recommended if there is really no option to play it on another platform. We expected much more from this conversion, especially seeing the level of other versions for the platform, but it seems that Remedy was on to something else and what has come out has come out. A great game in a poor version.

By no means is this good, or even mediocre, but I’ve seen much worse on the system. It’s just yet another unnecessary port that not only doesn’t perform well on such limited hardware, but also doesn’t fit in at all as a game available on a portable system. There’s just no reason for you to bother with it.

There's absolutely no doubt that Alan Wake Remastered looks pretty terrible in places. There have been some severe drawbacks to make this game run competently on the Switch: the swaying of the trees, while hardly a defining feature on paper, actually played a huge part in shaping Alan Wake's visual identity and atmosphere, and now they're static. The game plays exactly as you remember with consistent frame rates throughout and intuitive controls, but if you've played Alan Wake Remastered on a different platform, then you need only apply if you're a hardcore fan of Remedy's creation. Newcomers, however, should definitely consider checking this out if the Switch version is your only viable option, and if you can accept the considerable visual compromises.

Alan Wake is a game that’s easy to get caught up in, featuring an atmosphere that’s rich and enticing, writing that is equally campy, charming, and exciting, and characters who are interesting and memorable, even in cases where they may be a little too directly related to their sources of inspiration. It truly is a thrilling experience, and while the game certainly still shows its age at times, it’s absolutely delightful to play through and this is easily the definitive way to do so.

Alan Wake remastered is something I have always wanted to exist as the original was highly under looked when it came out. It was tied to one console and frankly Remedy was not quite the household name it is today. It is one of their best games and worth checking out whether you played the original or not. It still carries plenty of jank and questionable design mechanics from that era, but the story and characters excel it past most of its own issues. This is one experience that is worth revisiting or experiencing for the first time.

If there is an older version on the PC, download it and play it. If you're looking for a good story that won't take months like current AAA games, don't miss it.

If you are a true Sony fan who never played on any other device than PlayStation and you are wondering how things are on the other side, then Alan Wake Remastered is one of your best shots, even though it has its fare share of flaws.

If you have preconceived opinions of Alan Wake, this remaster is unlikely to change your stance. As someone who holds the original game in high regard, I was absolutely delighted to get an enhanced version of it. The gameplay feels dated, but the narrative does a great job of carrying the Twin Peaks style atmosphere. If you missed this cult classic at the time, or have fond memories, the £24.99 tag is well worth the price of admission.

Alan Wake Remastered is basically the same game that came out in 2010 with its pros and cons remaining intact. If you're a fan or want more context as to what Control's AWE DLC was all about, it might be worthwhile. Otherwise, it's best saved for an on-sale pickup.

Alan Wake Remastered is a truly special experience. It has some dated gameplay mechanics, but the core idea of the game combined with the stellar atmosphere and story-telling make it a must-play. I wish I had played it sooner, but at least I got to play it in the sharpest and best way possible.

Good pen and unique style - Alan Wake confirms that despite the passage of years, he still has this "something". It is worth visiting it in the renovated Bright Falls.

If you have not played Alan Wake before, the remastered version gives you the opportunity to experience one of the best and most influential video games in the world of story and narrative. However, if you have experienced this game before, the remastered version, except for the sixty frame rate on ninth-generation consoles, is not much different from the past and does not even include Alan Wake's American Nightmare. If you are a fan of the game, providing it at a discount can be a good option.
