Chorus is an absolutely excellent experience. Its story never felt dull. I loved watching Nara and Forsa mend their broken relationship and breathe in the excellently built zones and its deep lore. Despite not playing many games like it, the gameplay was accessible and enjoyable. The game is visually stunning with a soundtrack that meshes excellently with the setting of the game. If it were not for the one imbalanced boss, and the minor bugs I experienced, this would have been a perfect experience. Still, these are minor quibbles. Chorus is a game that should be on everyone’s radar heading into Game of the Year discussions. As only in Chorus will you be surprised and amazed by what the developers crafted.

There’s a solid space shooter buried beneath Chorus’ many bumps and bruises. Unfortunately, however, I’m not sure many players will be willing to dig beyond its myriad technical issues and more frustrating moments to find it. And honestly, that’s a real shame. Because with a bit more polish and refinement, Fishlabs’ latest offering could have been a space opera to remember with its unique story and exciting blend of sci-fi action and creepy occult mysticism. If you’re willing to overlook its problems, Chorus offers about a dozen hours of dogfighting action to keep you busy. But you’re going to need plenty of patience if you hope to break the Circle.

When The Circle comes calling again, encroaching on Nara’s meager existence, she also needs Forsa to stand a chance of fighting the cult, and even the ship has a deep recognition that it’s the product of reprehensible crimes. Their bonding over shared pain should be ridiculous, but in practice, it’s absolutely enthralling. All this runs parallel to the Lovecraftian cosmic horrors at the game’s heart, but even as unnerving as that material gets, it’s all the more effective thanks to the very human and understandable reasons they’ve been allowed to exist. There are dozens of space shooters that will take up more of your time, and very few of them are dedicated to making this much of an impact as an engrossing, thoughtful adventure.

Chorus is a half-successful product. The guys at Deep Silver Fishlabs have actually shaped a galvanizing combat system and supported by gameplay mechanics that are well suited to the genre of space combat shooters, but the exploratory component almost completely devoid of indications and the poor readability of the action penalize the playful system. If on the one hand we are satisfied with the work done on the narrative front, there is still a long way that the Hamburg studio will have to travel to transform Chorus into the promised product. The redemption of Nara, in short, can not yet be said to be completely achieved.

Chorus relies a lot on the show and he does it well. With its mystical atmosphere, it offers us a space opera with majestic sets, epic soundtrack and very dynamic space battles. We can, of course, regret the maps too empty outside the missions and a certain repetitiveness of the proposals made in the appendix of the main story, as well as a limited diversity of armament and anecdotal decisions, but the extreme maneuverability of the ship and the feeling of power that we have to pilot it, using the powers at our disposal, is clearly enjoyable.

Chorus may not be as interesting and addictive as Wing Commander or Star Wars Squadrons, but it has great potential. If you get through a boring start, Nara will take you on an intense adventure.

Chorus game turns the gamer into Nara, the pilot of the Forsyken spacecraft, to fight small and large enemy spaceships to protect the free people. The charm of flying in a large galaxy filled with eye-catching landscapes is so remarkable that if you love space battles and high-speed maneuvers at zero gravity, you shouldn't miss the opportunity to experience this work by Deep Silver.

Chorus is a fun, fast-paced and beautifully designed space opera/science-fiction game that can keep you entertained for hours upon hours. The problem is that there are few activities to do in the game's big world besides the core gameplay and the plot isn't as engaging as expected for this kind of setting.

There are not that many space combat games out there, so Chorus could be a good pick if you like an action packed and ready-to-go game that doesn't require you to study astrophysics like Elite o Star Citizen. The drawback is that, mechanics wise, Chorus is fairly repetitive, and not that mechanically deep. It could still be a good choice if you're aching to shoot space lasers, but in a couple of hours you might realize you're becoming more of a space tourist than an ace pilot.

Chorus brings back what has been forgotten: arcadic, story-driven space shooters that tie us to the console in an action-packed way.

Despite a handful of missteps, Chorus is a bold entry in the space combat genre and introduces mechanics other games would do well to imitate. Polished and fun, Chorus manages to offer a lot without ever overreaching and tells a compelling story while doing so.

I had a good amount of fun with Chorus. I walked in looking for a take on the space combat genre that could finally get me invested. There was definitely a good amount of love and care put into this title. The team at Fishlabs has put together something flawed but ultimately really exciting. For years, games based on flying around in space and shooting other space ships just did not appeal. Chorus has changed that and I hope that it does well so the developers will capitalize and make it’s next chapter even better.

Chorus does an admirable job of trying to carve out its own identity in a genre that deserves the attention, but it just doesn't stick the landing. If you're a fan of arcade spaceship shooters and narrative adventures there's probably enough here to chew over, but there's just not much that Chorus has to offer that hasn't already been done better elsewhere. Despite being set in a gorgeous pocket of space and offering up some interesting ideas it sadly misses the mark in just about every way.

Chorus is a good mix for those who enjoy the science fiction genre, as well as a great choice for those who love action games with a lot of combat, agility and challenge. Easily one of the best of the year for those looking for action in the space pilot genre.

Chorus is one of the biggest surprises of the year. With a great story, excellent world-building, tight movement, thrilling combat, and rewarding progression, this is one of the most enjoyable space shooters I've played in quite some time.

While Chorus lacks a more deft approach in telling its story, its gameplay more than makes up for it. The game provides a nice sandbox experience to explore a beautifully realised cosmos, with different-looking systems to explore to add some nice variety.

Chorus is an exceptional space shooter, especially when it comes to the gameplay. It has such tight controls it’s ridiculous. Once you add in the superhuman powers and an incredible universe to explore, then there is even more fun to be had here. The one problem however, is the narrative. Even though it’s a lot of fun to play, there just isn’t enough story content to drive you on, leaving the player feeling empty well before the credits roll.

At its best moments, Chorus is an intense space fighter that takes you to some gorgeous locations. However, the weak plot and technical issues hold it back from its full potential.
