With so many games aiming for the gamer dollar it is nice to see one that could have been an easy cash-in spend so much time paying attention to the finer details. Games aimed at younger players don’t need to forget the fundamentals of what makes people fall in love with gaming. Think back to titles like Mario Bros. and how they were accessible, yet finely tuned and how it hooked an entire generation on the hobby. Kids are smarter than some developers give them credit for and I am thrilled to say that Marsupilama: Hoobadventure is one of the best attempts at the genre I have seen this year. Definitely recommend checking it out on whatever platform you own.

A very well rounded and complete platform game. Artistically attractive, an enviable musical quality, very well worked controls and very addictive levels. Maybe it's easy, but Marsupilami: Hoobadventure has many strong points and it doesn't lack in any section.

While there’s some disparity between Marsupilami – Hoobadventure‘s target audience and its difficulty spikes, there’s no denying that there’s an excellent 2D platformer here, suitable for all ages. For fans of Crash Bandicoot and Rayman, you’ll find a lot to love in this charming and surprisingly beautiful adventure – even if you aren’t familiar with its long-tailed protagonist.

If there was one thing I wasn’t expecting from Marsupilami: Hoobadventure, it was for it to become of one of my favorite platformers of the year. It’s not just competent, it’s actually surprisingly well-crafted. Well designed levels, great controls, pretty graphics, and a cute sense of humor results in an adorable title that, while far from reinventing the wheel, will easily please Rayman and Donkey Kong Country enthusiasts.

Marsupilami: Hoobadventure is fun, upbeat, captivating and an excellent title for people looking for a simple experience that doesn't demand hardcore reflexes. However, it wouldn't have been too much trouble to have cutscenes and characters with more personality when it comes to such a rich universe. Performance issues and repetitiveness are some of its issues, but they're minor and rare, not impacting too much the quality of the adventure.

Marsupilami: Hoobadventure is one of those games that has no right to be as good as it is. Even after over 30 years of playing 2D platformers, it really took me back to why I love the genre with its intuitive and rewarding gameplay and cheerful presentation.

Marsupilami: Hoobadventure feels like a child-oriented Donkey Kong Country-like. Way more accessible and easier than the original formula, it will give to the youngest players a glimpse of what is to come, with its many secrets and evolutive yet conformist level design.

‎Perhaps a little more ambition is missing in the whole. And is that although it has very good things and a great aesthetic, it is not comparable to its references or other titles of outstanding manufacture, such as the Ori saga. Marsupilami Hoobadventure stays in a kind of manual conformity. As if the budget did not give for more. And it's really a shame, because with a push putting a couple of more worlds, cinematic or an animated story with the real-time graphics engine and little else, surely we could also talk about one of the best 2.5D platforms of its style.‎

While for a little while the introduction of 3D platforming was seen as the path to gaming irrelevance for its 2D side-scrolling brethren, traditional platformers aren't only still around, they're still kicking ass and taking names...

A truly surprisingly high-quality platformer with top-tier controls and level design. It's only let down by its extreme brevity and its bloated price tag.

Marsupilami: Hoobadventure offers us an original platform title that draws from other greats of the genre. Despite its markedly childish character, its gameplay is engaging and immerses us in 25 levels full of challenges and collectibles. On the other hand, the difficulty is unevenly measured and suffers from a certain repetitiveness of scenarios and enemies.
