MXGP 2021 still falls short of expectations. There is not much new content, and the game comes out in the end of the year, after the championship is done. Worse, the game's missing two tracks from this year's championship and when you enter the career, you take the slot of Jeffrey Herlings (MXGP 2021 champion) who is then absent from the game. Sad, specially as the riding feeling isn't bad.

The game offers a hefty set of options for both online and offline players, and the online portion is as solid as ever. If you are like me and most of your time will be spent on the track in career mode or online racing against friends, then adding MXGP 2021 to your rotation is simply a must. The game still has a few legacy issues, but the positives far outweigh the negatives when it comes to MXGP 2021.

MXGP 2021 is a realistic racing sim that will likely appeal to veteran players who are already familiar with the series. However, the game's steep learning curve and lack of innovative game modes make it difficult for newcomers to enjoy.

MXGP 2021 is more of the same from Milestone’s marquee motocross experience.

In spite of the technical limitations of the previous generation version, MXGP 2021 does manage to be a successful entry in the series that will likely keep motocross fans happy. It’s not as in depth as some other official racing sims on the market, but there's enough variation to keep players engaged while its race-to-race gameplay is still enjoyable.

MXGP 2021 is the game you expect it is. A fun, solid and compelling simcade about Motocross World Championship, which just does everything better than the last year edition, without making any meaningful qualitative leap, but with a lot of little tweaks.

For the 2021 season Milestone has worked mainly up to the point of improving an already quite satisfactory base, postponing the technical revolution for future chapters. It will not be the most explosive episode of the series, but MXGP 2021 remains definitely appreciable for its increasingly simulation-oriented soul. There are some flaws, such as an AI that is certainly not extraordinary and a graphic sector that can be improved, and there are very few substantial innovations: for veterans and motocross enthusiasts it is still an appointment undoubtedly recommended.

A new solid entry in the MXGP series that unfortunately starts to show its age with few noticeable improvements or features.

MXGP 21 is a simulation achievement, but this may not be good enough except for the most dedicated motocross fans.

All that being said, there’s no denying that this is the best MXGP release yet. While they’re not particularly sizeable, improvements have been made, and it’s nice to have some new tracks thrown into the mix. Just be aware that if you already own MXGP 2020, MXGP 2021 isn’t going to offer a wildly different experience. It feels more like a refinement or expansion rather than a sequel. Whether that makes it worth the asking price is up to you.

An edition somewhat lacking in novelty. It serves as an upgrade and accommodates multiple solo or networked challenges.

Milestone has the reins of motorcycle racing in hand, which it manages with enviable confidence, raising the level of the motocross sub-genre like never before but at the same time not being particularly interested in pushing the franchise in a new direction.

MXGP 2021 is a fun game for MXGP fans, but it doesn't even bother to try doing something new.

MXGP 21 is a tough game to review. Riding on dirt tracks is a much harder thing to simulate than doing so on paved ones. However, one can only judge a game by how much enjoyment it creates. For myself, I was often more frustrated than elated. Though the game includes a bevy of options to make MXGP 21 accessible to everyone, it’s a niche racing genre that will appeal mainly to dedicated fans. The other big knock on this game is the changes from the 2020 version are only incremental.

The two sister games MXGP 2021 and Monster Energy Supercross 5 sadly do not have a game mode of the same caliber; It finds the most immersive gaming experience in career mode. Here, as usual, a driver should be created, stables selected and races run. Drive well and get offers from better stables, drive and get fired. Simple but decent fun.
