Whether or you’ll like 6Souls or not depends on your temperament and, possibly, your dexterity. If repeatedly failing a level and starting from the beginning frustrates rather than delights, perhaps give this one a miss and save the cost of replacing your TV after you’ve embedded your controller in it. Personally, this might just be me; my fingers constantly confused the jump, wall grab, and dash buttons. I’d jump, wall grab and fall to an untimely death instead of jumping and dashing. I also found myself dashing in the wrong direction quite often, which, after you’ve successfully chained several together, is galling. That said, I did enjoy 6Souls. It’s good, honest, and challenging platforming fun. Finding the one true way through a level leads to some enjoyably head-scratching moments and pulling off a flawless sequence of jumps, dashes, and wall grabs to reach the end. If you like challenging platformers, then give 6Souls a whirl. It’s undoubtedly worthy of Thumb Culture Gold Award.

6Souls is a challenging platformer with great graphics, music, and gameplay. It can border on frustrating, but if you're a glutton for punishment, have a high level of patience, and/or love a challenge, this one might be worth checking out.

6Souls doesn’t do anything to standout in the crowded retro platformer genre but it can provide a couple hours of fun. You’ll get to explore a castle with a man and his dog while seeking the truth of a missing family and earn some easy trophies along the way. If you’re a fan of titles from Ratalaika Games then you’ll enjoy this one just fine.

A short but fun platforming experience. Explore a castle; fight goblins; even play as a dog that collects bacon! There are a few flaws in certain areas, but as a whole this is a fine game.

6Souls isn’t the most original of titles but there’s enough fun platforming, tricky bosses, and well considered animation and sound to keep you happy for the whole of its duration. Had the level design been a little more varied, with some of the older mechanics brought back a little later in the game, and there been less reliance on the Soul Boost, it would have gone to another level still.

It’s rare that I don’t have a bad word to say about a game but 6Souls is an example of a video game done right. It didn’t overreach and promise the world, it focused on delivering what it could and making the most out of the game’s core concept. While it isn’t a game of the year contender or even a game that MUST be played this would make for an excellent addition to anyone’s gaming library.
