Ultimately, Monopoly Madness is a novel twist on the Monopoly formula, which can be fun to play in short bursts. But it doesn’t quite scratch the itch of playing the classic board game.

A refreshing twist on a classic familiar to all, Monopoly Madness does enough on its own to both surprise and frustrate as you seek to be the wealthiest of them all.

On the bright side, the core concept of Monopoly Madness is shockingly good, to the point where I can recommend it at the right price. I really dig how fast-paced it is. It’s a worthy party game through and through — with a twist I haven’t quite seen before — and from that lens, I’ve been having a blast. A little more budget could have gone a long way, so I’ll be curious to see if this is a one-and-done project or if Ubisoft will explore a follow-up.

Everyone is familiar with the basic principle of Monopoly, having as many streets as possible in your possession. It's no different in Monopoly Madness. The only difference is that the way you do that consists of a lot of sucking, blowing and pushing another button every now and then. It's not a traditional Monopoly game and in this case it's a shame. Monopoly Madness is mostly boring and monotonous and can't keep you entertained for more than five to ten minutes.

Overall Monopoly Madness can be a fun game when playing with friends; however, playing the game solo can be an infuriating task based on how the AI plays. Rather than feeling fair and balanced, it seems like the AI has a vendetta against humans. Is Ubisoft secretly programming the upcoming terminators? Mr. Monooly’s voice lines will make you want to stop playing the game. The game would be better off without him or with more dialog lines. As a whole, the game is fun but not meant for all ages. Even those that love Monopoly will grow tired of this game after two hours. The game is fine to play for a short amount of time but it is a good idea to take breaks.
