If you're looking for a game that combines golf and RPGs then you will have an okay time with this title. For people looking for more in-depth golf or RPG game, I don't believe this title is for you.

All these average systems lack any standout hook for the game to hang its hat on and set itself apart from the indie pixel-game scene.

RPGolf Legends leans too much into its influences to be really entertaining in itself. As a fan of Sports RPGs, RPGolf Legends demonstrates there is some wiggle room to experiment with the formula. I’d be doing a disservice to not congratulate the developers on the boss fights that succeed at demonstrating how RPG mechanics and golf mechanics can integrate well to make some unique and special gameplay moments. However, it must be said that outside of those boss fights, the game is largely satisfactory, but not exciting. It’s not the worst game I have played in recent memory, and it’s not a bad game to kill time on. Yet, for the ambition on display, I find it hard to get particularly enthusiastic about RPGolf Legends.

Nobody said about RPGolf Legends that it was easy to combine RPG and golf in the same title. The truth is that the golf part looks very fun but its combat is very tedious, becoming very cumbersome from the first moment and leaving a rather bittersweet taste in the title.

RPGolf Legends can be good fun, but it's also heavily flawed at present. With more focus on golf and dungeon puzzles and less on awful combat, this game would be an easy recommendation. But the fusion is bizarrely out of whack, and the game needs more polish.

If you yearn for the days of, say, Camelot’s Mario Golf on the Game Boy Color, then the fusion of sports and statistics may hold your attention here. But it’s best enjoyed in short bursts, as the tedium sets in quick, and will take a slice at your interest.

RPGolf Legends is a fun golfing game, but during my time with it, I wished it was just that. I do not think the genre mash-up is bad, mind, but the execution could have been better. I did feel that, had the combat been turn-based, I might have engaged with it more.

RPGolf Legends is fun idea with some solid mechanics, but is lacking in aesthetic and exciting gameplay.

RPGolf Legends attempts to combine elements from a range of genres to create a sumptuous sporting adventure. Unfortunately, these exist in solitude rather than merge to form a cohesive experience. Although it doesn’t hit the heights of Golf Story, it does have a lot of charm and is a fun stop-gap while waiting for Sidebar Games’ sophomore release.

With the general Switch line-up when it comes to both RPGs and Sports titles being thinner than would be preferred, my eyes lit up at the prospect of RPGold Legends managing to knock out two under-represented birds with one stone...

Going into RPGolf Legends, I had no idea what to expect. The mix of RPG gameplay smashed together with the least adrenaline-filled sport ever conceived was a concept that intrigued and surprised me. I expected a golf game akin to the Tiger Woods or Wii golf games with a subtle levelling system. What I got was a strange RPG game more like the top down 16-bit adventures of old, such as classic Final Fantasy or Zelda adventures revolving around a golf obsessed world.

RPGolf Legends provides a solid golf-filled adventure set in a lighthearted game world that's a joy to explore. Although its combat could use some major tweaks, you'll still have a fun time unlocking holes and completing quests as you save the sport of golf.

We have here a mixture that curiously works where it really needs it. It's an RPG adventure with charisma and a fun golf game. The use of mechanics and peculiarities of each genre complement each other in a way that makes RPGolf Legends an authentic “action RPGolf”.

RPGolf Legends is a fun game that combines traditional European sport, which sometimes seems unusual to Brazilians, with role-playing progression and real-time battles. With multiple qualities, it forms a title capable of bringing us closer to the elegance of golf, an activity that, contrary to its stereotypes, is far from being slow or boring - even more so when it is practiced in a wide, attractive and charming open world.

KEMCO has partnered to create something special, and I have walked away from this with a brand new lens through which to view their creations. It’s fun, it’s challenging, and it’s engaging. Although, if they want to patch in a toggle for timer elements (they have toggles for both combat and golf difficulty), I think it’d make everything just that much cleaner. RPGolf Legends is, hands down, my favorite title that KEMCO has ever published, and this is a clean drive into a beautiful birdie for players everywhere.

The boss battles that deftly mix combat and golf are tons of fun. But then you might hit a wall where you just need to grind, whether it's by pounding down enemies or golfing on loop, and the whole experience suffers. Still, I'm heartened that we live in a world where we have multiple options for retro-ish golf RPGs and they're both pretty good.

An admirably odd and confident golf mini-game/ARPG hybrid, brought down by a tedious structure.

Golf and RPG mechanics go together like a putter and the green. But is RPGolf Legends a hole-in-one?

RPGolf Legends for me ended up being a kinda push-pull. When the game focused on golf gameplay and exploration I was really in love with the experience. But the combat in the game really soured it for me. The game does get better the more time you invest into it, once you upgrade your clubs and unlock new classes. It just requires a lot of persistence to get to that point. With that in mind, I still recommend this game since it does put its own spin on the sports RPG formula. It’s just a formula that could have been a hole in one with a few tweaks to the gameplay.
