Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream is part of the Mysterious Trilogy and it's not difficult to see why it's the best game in the series thanks to the improvements that help shape it into a more modern experience while keeping the spirit of the formula intact. A wide and varied world to explore and with very addictive ways to do so, an engaging and dynamic combat system, and an overall refined experience that makes this a memorable game and a very welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

Too much fan service to finish, at least for this guy.

While the overall package is lots of fun, it's not without a few issues. The lack of a truly driving story is by far Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream's weakest point. Furthermore, progression is in general just slow throughout, with endless backtracking. The simplified alchemy system is a mixed bag. It does little to stray from the formula and will be picked up by players exactly for that. It would be nice to see Gust take some risks and really step out with some new ideas rather than re-hashes of the same thing over and over.

'Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream' is the latest work of Atelier series which is famous for unique alchemy system in gameplay. It took and improved old systems and styles for reviving the series, but inconvenient details of classic games came together. This game is recommended for those who want to savour slow life and relaxing atmospheres.

Atelier Sophie 2 continues to build on the Atelier franchise’s solid foundation and the result is another excellent game in the series. Granted the game can admittedly be grindy and repetitive at times. With its likable cast, addicting gameplay loop, touching narrative and feel-good charm, however, Atelier Sophie 2 is another welcome addition to the franchise, whether you’re a newcomer or a veteran who waited seven years for this surprise sequel.

Atelier Sophie 2 adds a lot of new features that help engage the players of the previous Sophie title. Combat feels fresh with the support party member mechanics. One problem is the alchemy system needing prior knowledge of previous games to succeed.

ATELIER SOPHIE 2 is a hidden gem that didn't get enough attention during the crazy first quarter of this year, and it's not a game that pleases everybody, but it offers so much when you dig deep into it.

When I started this game, I was not expecting to find the best Atelier game of its generation, but the development team at Gust has proven with Sophie 2 that they can learn from experience, leveling up in knowledge and skill just as the alchemists do to provide a more polished product.

Getting sucked in on a new game isn’t saying much since anyone who knows me, knows I’ll get wrapped up in even a mediocre open world game. However, Atelier Sophie 2 is not that, far from it. Atelier Sophie 2 is a very well made and fun game, and has no shortage of best girls either.

Atelier old timers can once again feel at home, even if some important aspects are still lacking.

Overall, I have to say I absolutely love how they’ve evolved, and continue to evolve, the Atelier series. Atelier Sophie was probably my favourite post PS2 Atelier title, and Atelier Sophie 2 doesn’t disappointed. With a more refined combat and alchemy system, and interesting weather feature, and improved graphics and character animations, Atelier Sophie 2 : the Alchemist and the Mysterious Dream is a must play in the Atelier series.

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream presents an immediately engaging gameplay hook. The story is interesting and can get new players caught up fairly quickly, though the character designs can leave a lot to be desired. Battles and alchemy are a ton of fun, but the game does have trouble explaining all of its systems effectively.

Atelier Sophie 2 manages to synthesise old and new in a way befitting improvements to the franchise while leaving it comfortably with the rest of the Mysterious games. It shares some minor similarities with Sophie's first game but is generally quite different. It doesn't quite reach the heights of Atelier Ryza 2, but will still definitely keep most Atelier fans quite happy.

I greatly appreciated Atelier Sophie 2 and it serves well as the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Atelier series. Like prior titles, Sophie 2 is a fun slice-of-life game where the stakes aren’t astronomically high, but the story is fun and the characters are lovable. It was great seeing Sophie and Plachta on yet another adventure, one that I would recommend to newcomers to the series and veterans alike.

Atelier Sophie 2 provided a great story, diverse characters and multiple additional ways to make items, and despite the repetition of some tasks and activities, I enjoyed playing it a lot.

While Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream does nothing totally different as a sequel, the streamlined crafting and simplified combat system allow players to be more invested in the story without becoming bogged down in complex game mechanics. For long-time fans, however, those mechanics are still available.

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream is a very by-the-numbers Atelier title, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's fun to play, has a strong cast, and is nicely polished. It doesn't try anything new or special, and it feels very much like a "safe" game. If you like Atelier titles, Atelier Sophie 2 is going to be a solid, if unexceptional, entry in your collection. It's an improvement on the original Sophie through and through, but it doesn't live up to other recent titles.

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream is a masterpiece by Gust and the best game in the franchise so far. All elements work to perfection to deliver a rewarding experience. There's an amazing cast of characters, great story and the best combat, alchemy and exploration systems ever seen in the series.

Atelier Sophie's second-part game provided a smooth and simplified experience with a focus on material manufacturing without making any attempts to make any significant move in the series.
